Selling my super rare Volvo 850R. This is a really fast turbo-engine sedan that will definitely get you where you need to go quickly. The car is in fantastic shape. It has a clean carfax and is accident free. Owned by responsible owners in a smoke free environment.

You will not be disappointed with this car! Very very clean and super fun to drive. I would be happy to show the car to anyone who wants to come see it. Just contact me and we can work something out. Also feel free to ask any questions!

A Brief History:
I bought this car a while ago from a very reputable, local Volvo mechanic. As you can see from the maintenance section below, he took extremely good care of the car and replaced a lot of essential parts like the timing belt, heater core, tires, shocks etc. (all very recently too, so you wont need to do any of that) Check maintenance records below for more details. I used the car as a commuter for a while, but i am no longer in need of a second car so i have decided to sell it.

Exterior:
The body is perfect with hardly in dings or scratches. Included on this model is the sport package. It has the special R front bumper with a lip, the R rear spoiler and side skirts. The wheels are 7x17 7-spoke heavy duty volan alloy wheels. All are straight but they all have a little road rash (some more than others). Tires are all very nice with at least 85% tread left with only 16,000 miles on them. Also comes with a full size spare in the trunk.

Interior:
The interior is in wonderful shape as well. As you can see from the pictures, the seats are in beautiful shape. Only the driver side is a little worn, but its still pretty nice. Seats are heated. It has graphite grey leather with dark alcantara suede seat and door inserts, burled black walnut wood trim on instrument panel and floor console with Graphite carpeting/interior plastics and polished aluminum door sills. Also has light Grey leather gearknob, seat piping, hand break and steering wheel insert. Audio: 200w amplifier with 8-speaker audio system and a SC-805/815 in-dash CD player. Sun roof is also a nice addition for the summer.

Maintenance:
180,000 miles: Replaced shifter console bulbs, rear engine seal, front and rear O2 sensors
195,000 miles: A/C evac and recharge, replaced head gasket and valve guide seals, 4 cam seals
216,000 miles: Replaced A/C evaporator, heater core, pollen cabin filter
218,000 miles: Replaced, r side ball joints and control arms, Timing Belt
224,000 miles: 4 New UHP Cooper Tires, 4 New Bilstein HD Shocks
Oil, filter and break pads changed on a very regular basis.

Tasteful Modifications:
Eibach Lowering springs
Strut Brace
Samco Sport hoses
v70 rain diverters
Black IPD mesh grill with 'Volvo Slash'
Tinted windows

Needs:
In need of new trunk strut.
PMP switch. Very standard replacement. The connection is causing a the yellow arrow to go off on the dash every now and then and should probably be replaced at some point. Not a serious problem though.

Subprime financing on the rise in new car sales, leasing too

Fri, 07 Dec 2012

We all remember the financial crisis that began several years back. At its core was a splurge of subprime lending for housing loans. The housing bubble burst, triggering a collapse of the mortgage-backed securities market. Apparently, those types of loans still exist in the automotive industry, and the market share for these types of "nonprime, subprime, and deep subprime," loans has grown 13.6 percent compared to the third quarter a year ago.
According to an Automotive News report, high-risk lending expanded to 24.8 percent of total loans in Q3, up from 21.9 percent for this time last year. As this level increased, average credit scores of borrowers dropped to 755, down from 763 a year ago. In that time, the average financing amount increased $90 per vehicle, to $25,963.
At 818, Volvo maintains the highest per-owner credit score, while Mitsubishi has the lowest, at 694. The highest rate of borrowers was at Toyota, with 14 percent of the market, followed by Ford with 13.1 percent and Chevrolet at 11.1.

Volvo's plan for China: sell them on the clean air inside the car

Thu, 24 Oct 2013

Large Chinese cities aren't known for having clean air. Just this week, the Chinese city of Harbin filled with record levels of smog after starting the city's coal-fired heating system, according to CNN. But Li Shufu, the chairman of Geely, Volvo's parent company, says the automaker's astute attention to cabin comfort in areas such as air filtration is a selling point for the Swedish automaker in China, Forbes reports.
Shufu says when he is inside a Volvo, he feels like he's in Northern Europe, but when the door is opened, he feels like he's in Beijing. The chairman made the remarks at the fourth annual Global Auto Forum (GAF) in China (which also happened to be attended by Alan Mulally, CEO of Ford, which was Volvo's owner until 2010), where he emphasized Geely's hands-off approach to managing Volvo, saying, "Geely and Volvo are brothers, not father and son."
While good filtration contributes to cabin comfort, the way we see it, Shufu also is allowing Volvo to play to its most well-known strength: safety. Smog protection via air filtration might not seem like the most important safety feature for a car in the US (unless you live in Los Angeles), but when you consider that Harbin's level of fine particles was up to 30 times higher than the World Health Organization's recommended standard on Tuesday, we'd think twice about that. Fine particles, which are 2.5 micrometers in diameter or less, are considered to be the most harmful to health.

These are the cars with the best and worst depreciation after 5 years

Thu, Nov 19 2020

The average new vehicle sold in America loses nearly half of its initial value after five years of ownership. No surprise there; we all expect that shiny new car to start depreciating as soon as we drive it off the lot. But some vehicles lose value a lot faster than others. According to data provided by iSeeCars.com, trucks and truck-based sport utility vehicles generally hold their value better than other vehicle types, with the Jeep Wrangler — in both four-door Unlimited and standard two-door styles — and Toyota Tacoma sitting at the head of the pack. The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited's average five-year depreciation of 30.9% equals a loss in value of $12,168. That makes Jeep's four-door off-roader the best overall pick for buyers looking to minimize depreciation. The Toyota Tacoma's 32.4% loss in initial value means it loses just $10,496. The smaller dollar amount — the least amount of money lost after five years — indicates that Tacoma buyers pay less than Wrangler Unlimited buyers, on average, when they initially buy the vehicle. The standard two-door Jeep Wrangler is third on the list, depreciating 32.8% after five years and losing $10,824. Click here for a full list of the top 10 vehicles with the least depreciation over five years. On the other side of the depreciation coin, luxury sedans tend to plummet in value at a much faster rate than other vehicle types. The BMW 7 Series leads the losers with a 72.6% drop in value after five years, which equals an alarming $73,686. BMW's slightly smaller 5 Series is next, depreciating 70.1%, or $47,038, over the same period. Number three on the biggest losers list is the Nissan Leaf, the only electric vehicle to appear in the bottom 10. The electric hatchback matches the 5 Series with a 70.1% drop in value, but since it's a much cheaper vehicle, that percentage equals a much smaller $23,470 loss.
