Exterior: Body and paint have a few blemishes. Very minor rust in a couple places and various, small paint chips. Driver side rear door got a sweet parking lot repair 2 owners ago. It had a dent and the owner had a guy in the parking lot of wherever he was say, "I can fix that for $20." Owner said ok and what you see is what you get. Lol. The owner got what he paid for. I was going to fix the door and paint it myself but I just don't have the time to do it. It really is a fairly easy and inexpensive fix. There are two trim pieces removed but I have the trim. One is missing off the door with the primer spot and isn't installed for obvious reasons. The other is missing from the passenger side far rear window. I'm just waiting for the clips to come in the mail to install it. Volvo ordered the wrong ones. I have recently painted the bumpers and side view mirrors with bumper and trim paint so they look good. The front right turn signal just had a piece of the lens removed when a rock decided to jump up and high five it. Aside from that stuff, it really isn't a bad looking car.

Interior: Everything works as it should. Sunroof is a little slow but I don't use it. Carpet is in excellent condition and still has the original floor mats. Drivers seat is tearing at the seam which is typical on any 22 year old car with leather seats. Easy fix. Passenger seat has a small, 2" piece of leather torn. It's probably a little harder fix but should still be repairable. Rear seat is excellent. Headliner could use replacement but is presentable and is intact. Both front "oh crap" handles are missing. Dash is beautiful. Rear facing seats are complete and working. There's a couple plastic trim pieces that are cracked but nothing real noticeable.

Engine & Trans: Runs great. Long maintenance history. I have a pile of receipts for recent and past repairs. Most recently replaced are the radiator, some hoses, plugs, plug wires, cap, rotor, crank position sensor, fuel pump relay, radio noise suppression relay, starter and ignition control module. The a/c is all there and was working but the condenser has a leak and will need replaced. Again, I'd do it but don't have the time. A new one is $80 and they're easy to change. The previous owner had taken the car from Phoenix all the way to Washington state without a hitch. I have a receipt to show that he had taken it there. While it was there he had all the brakes done. Trans is a rare manual 4 speed with a push button 5th gear. It moves the rear wheels as it should. Yes, this car is rear wheel drive.

Suspension: New IPD poly bushings up front and IPD heavy duty rear springs. Otherwise it's stock afaik.

Things that don't work: A/C and tach. As I stated above the a/c needs a condenser. As for the tach, I've been troubleshooting for a couple weeks and have come up with nothing. I have a spare gauge cluster that I've swapped tachometers with and still nothing. I've checked more than that, though.

Why am I selling such a hard to find car? Well, I'm a Volkswagen guy to begin with. Second, I have 7 vehicles and playing musical cars gets irritating. I refuse to sell any of our Volkswagens and my truck is worth its weight in gold so it stays. With that said, I simply don't have the time or space for this car. So, it has to go. Technically, it doesn't have to go. But, it does. Ah hell, you get the point. I don't need to sell it as I don't need the money but it would be nice to free up the space.

Volvo teases mysterious new small crossover

Thu, 16 May 2013

The image you see above is just about all we know of the new Volvo crossover that will be revealed at 8:30 pm Central European Time on May 17 (2:30 pm Eastern Standard Time). Volvo released three very short video teasers, all with the tagline "Leave The World Behind," all of which feature a member of the now-defunct band Swedish House Mafia - Axwell sits in a boat in the first, Sebastian Ingrosso walks toward cabin in the second and Steve Angello stares at the sea in a third.
A microsite, www.leavetheworldbehind.com, accompanies the teasers and it's been said that a short film by Lune will feature the band - Swedish Mafia had a hit in 2009 with the song Leave the World Behind. As for the vehicle, theories are that it could be something between the V40 Cross Country and XC60, the new XC90 or something else entirely. We don't have long to wait, and you can watch both teasers below.

China's Geely buying majority stake in Lotus

Wed, May 24 2017

Geely, the Hong Kong car company that owns Volvo, is acquiring control of British car company Lotus. Geely is purchasing a 51-percent stake in Lotus from struggling Malaysian car company Proton, and a 49.9 percent stake in Proton itself. Etika Automotive will gain the other 49 percent of Lotus. France's PSA Group and Japan's Suzuki had apparently also been interested in acquiring Proton. Geely says it plans to revive both Proton and Lotus. "The agreement lays the foundation for a wider framework for both Geely Holding, Proton and Lotus to explore joint synergies in areas such as research and development, manufacturing and market presence," Geely said in a news release. Those joint synergies will be highlighted by the lightweight chassis technology Lotus is known for, which could help Geely improve fuel efficiency. Geely CFO Daniel Donghui Li said the company aims to "unleash the full potential of Lotus Cars" by expanding and accelerating new products and technologies. Proton was nationally held but was privatized in 2007 to Malaysian conglomerate DRB-Hicom, which is owned by tycoon Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary. It was supposed to be the flagship for Malaysia's economic development.Though it owns two factories, Proton mainly rebadges foreign-made cars and sells them in Malaysia. What it has, what Geely presumably wants, is a distribution network in Southeast Asia to pit Chinese cars against Japanese automotive dominance in the region. Retaining a 50.1-percent stake in Proton is seen as a face-saving move. "Proton will always remain a national car and a source of pride, as Proton will still have a majority hold of 50.1 percent," Malaysian finance official Johari Abdul Ghani said. "Our very own much-loved brand now has a real chance in making a comeback, a huge one I hope." Related Video:

Autoblog's June 2019 Editors' Picks

Wed, Jul 10 2019

Each year we review, test and rate hundreds of brand-new cars, trucks and SUVs. We rate these vehicles using the Autoblog score, giving a select few our Editors’ Pick. Here are the best cars we drove in June 2019. 2019 BMW 8 Series Everyone on the Autoblog staff loves a good grand tourer, so we were excited to get behind the wheel of the revived BMW 8 Series, specifically an M850i Coupe. A good GT needs to be as fast as it is stylish and comfortable, and the new 8 Series delivers. We particularly like the 523-horsepower twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8Â’s copious power and smooth ride quality, even on MichiganÂ’s pockmarked post-winter roads. We dig the interior design, too, though not everyone was in love with the exterior. ItÂ’s not the best-handling car in its class, and doesnÂ’t hide its sizable proportions very well, but itÂ’s still worth a look if youÂ’re looking for a big, fast cruiser.  2019 Ford Expedition Crossovers may be the hottest vehicles on the market, but thereÂ’s still a sizable demand for traditional body-on-frame SUVs like the Ford Expedition. These behemoths offer plenty of space in addition to truck-like capability. We like the Expedition's smooth ride, powerful twin-turbo V6 and sharp exterior design, though the interior can feel a bit cheap, especially on some of the more expensive trims. Adding options quickly puts it into Lincoln Navigator territory, and itÂ’s hard to recommend the Ford over the Lincoln when the latter packs the same capability into a far nicer package. Still, the Expedition is as good or better than the competition in most respects, and thatÂ’s why itÂ’s one of our picks. 2019 Toyota 86 Few cars at any price point are as much fun as the Toyota 86 (and its twin, the Subaru BRZ). We like the 86Â’s balanced chassis and sharp steering, and while itÂ’s not as nimble as its close rival the Mazda MX-5 Miata, the ToyotaÂ’s back seat and trunk make it a more usable vehicle. But while we like the 86Â’s driving position, the rest of the interior feels cheap and dated, especially the infotainment system. We complained about the anemic powertrain back in 2012, and itÂ’s only gotten worse as the years have gone by.
