1992 Volvo 240 Sedan Low Miles Vg-exc Condition on 2040-cars
Birmingham, Alabama, United States
92 VOLVO 240 DL BASE IN VERY GOOD - EXCELLENT CONDITION, great gas mileage.
BODY CONDITION 9/10 (10 WOULD BE PERFECT SHOWROOM CONDITION) INTERIOR 9/10 This low mileage Volvo runs great. Let's start with the exterior: The paint is shiny. You can see some minor sanding swirls (clear coat upper was redone a few years ago). There are normal nicks and dings that you would expect of a 22 year old car, but none of them are significant. One minor ding on hood that is barely noticeable till you get close up. The mouldings are all good. The window scrapers (rubber) all all new. Windshield wipers are new. Interior: The interior is in good shape, seats are comfortable, no major stains. All dash switches and knobs are present, function, and not cracked. Dashboard is not cracked and is covered by a dash protector. All dash lights and shifter lights work. Cup holders are installed. Aftermarket radio is installed. iPod/iPhone control, Pandora control. I have original radio that I will send with car. New rear speakers. New RENSI moulded mats (like OEM Volvo mats, but better) Trunk is clean. Mechanics: Engine compartment is clean. The car runs well, shifts smooth. Previous owner replaced Timing belt at around 108K, rear shocks, brakes, fuel pump, various relays. R-134 Conversion of A/C which works great. The car is equipped with an aftermarket remote keyless entry which is very handy. The car is in great shape and shows well, a very pretty color, and intact. Tires are serviceable and with lots of tread left. On Oct-19-13 at 12:25:05 PDT, seller added the following information: NOTE: 10/19/2013 THE TEMP GUAGE STOPPED WORKING TODAY. I HAVE ORDERED A SENDING UNIT TO INSTALL WHICH SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM |

Volvo Concept Coupe may see limited production
Wed, 25 Sep 2013Despite the impressive production debuts from Porsche and BMW at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show - the 918 Spyder and the i8, respectively - there was one car that captured the attention of the press and the public alike, enough so that we awarded it our overall top pick of the show: the Volvo Concept Coupe. Most concepts never make it to production, but the car's reception has been so positive that Volvo's board of directors is considering to produce it in limited quantities, Auto Bild reports. Italian coachbuilder Bertone could handle the limited production run.
Styled after the classic P1800, the Volvo concept was similar to the new Porsche and BMW in that it was equipped with a high-performance hybrid drivetrain. But Volvo took a different route from there, giving the sleek coupe a turbocharged and supercharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor at the rear axle. All in, the combo is good for 400 horsepower and 490 pound-feet of torque.
If the Concept Coupe makes it to production, it may not get the trick hybrid drivetrain mentioned above, Motor Athority reports, but a milder plug-in hybrid setup or even just a conventional fuel-burning engine. In any case, it would be a treat if Volvo produced a fully functional, street-legal Concept Coupe, though at that point we're thinking it would be due for a name change.
Comparison test: 2019 Acura RDX vs. compact luxury SUV competitors
Fri, Jun 1 2018Truth be told, if we were to compare the all-new 2019 Acura RDX with those compact luxury crossover SUVs it would most likely be cross-shopped against, you'd be looking at a different list. Even Acura admits that Lexus and Infiniti are the most likely bogies, but with the 2019 RDX, Honda's luxury brand is attempting to attract those customers who think as much with their hearts as with their heads. And for the most part, those folks have been buying from German brands: the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class. So, to show how the new RDX compares to them, Acura actually provided examples of each during the recent press drive along with a Volvo XC60. All were determined to have greater emotional appeal than the last RDX, and we would certainly agree. For, as much as the previous-generation RDX made sense on paper, it was really hard to get excited about it. And when you're paying extra for a luxury vehicle, shouldn't you get a little excited? Well, as luck would have it, Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski and I were on hand in Whistler, British Columbia, for the press launch. We didn't have an abundance of time in each RDX competitor, but in conjunction with our usual comparison chart, our impressions should provide a good first taste of how the new RDX compares. Performance and fuel economy Contributing Editor James Riswick: On paper at least, the RDX is gutsier than its comparably powered European rivals. It also weighs the same or less, which logically should mean it'll be the quickest in a straight line. During my brief drives, though, I'm not sure it really stood taller than the three Germans. It at least matches them for smoothness, which is something that can't be said about the Volvo. Fuel economy is lower than them all when you consider all but the Mercedes come standard with all-wheel drive. It's also worth noting that all the competitors are available with engine upgrades, and unless Acura's forthcoming resurrection of Type S models includes the RDX, it should stay that way. Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski: Line 'em all up in a drag race, and I have a feeling the Acura would squirt away to victory. A good bit of that, though, would be due to its 10-speed automatic transmission, which offers a huge spread of ratios and fires off extremely quick shifts. In the real world, I'd guess fuel economy will be similar across the board, so I'm willing to call that category a draw.
Volvo uncovers widespread cheating by its Chinese dealers
Tue, 26 Mar 2013According to a report in Reuters, the findings of an internal investigation conducted by Geely-owned Volvo is that its Chinese dealers vastly overreported their sales numbers in 2011, then even more vastly underreported their 2012 sales figures. About "half the dealers" out of the 151 total outlets gamed the system in order to get incentives for reaching volume objectives, falsely recording about 7,000 more units sold than was actually the case. Instead of 47,140 cars sold in China in 2011, the real number should have been 39,871.
Volvo corporate books a sale once it ships a car to a dealer, so that meant there were 7,000 more cars in inventory than there should have been. To restore the balance, the dealers underreported their 2012 sales while they unloaded those extra cars since, naturally, they couldn't claim the sale again. That made it look like sales declined by 11 percent in 2012, even though they actually increased year-on-year. The adjusted sales number for 2012 totalled 45,896.
Volvo has met with its dealers and told them to stop the deceitful practice. The discrepancies weren't so great that the company plans to restate its historic numbers, but from now on, it apparently plans to occasionally check inventory to make sure the numbers match and that it has a true picture of how individual models are selling.
