1992 240 Volvo on 2040-cars
San Angelo, Texas, United States

This vehicle is in a very good condition. It starts promptly in all weather, accelerates, idles and drives nicely. Car starts smoothly and accelerates excellently. All the lights work fine. All the mirrors and lenses are in good condition. AC blows cold air. Loaded with power door, locks, power steering, power windows. It has AM/FM CD with four premium Volvo speakers and they work perfectly. It is a Texas car so is no rusts on this well kept car. Exterior paint is in good condition for the age of the car but expect some dings and scratches and scrapes. Leather seats are excellent with only a tear on the driver’s seat. Carpets are great. All the gauges work except the odometer that stopped two years ago. Well maintained, recent timing belt, new AC compressor, accumulator and hose, harmonic balancer and windshield. Center arm rest for comfort while driving. Yokohama tires are recent with great treads. This is a comfortable and very reliable car. I know of absolutely nothing wrong with it mechanically. It gets great gas mileage - and cruises very comfortably without vibration or pulling or anything. The brakes do not pull and they stop the car very well. The aftermarket cruise control works perfectly. The power steering is light and effective with the 240 amazing turning radius. I am second owner. Purchased it 10 years ago. I would keep the car but we purchased a newer model and I already have another back-up Volvo in the garage. I have changed the oil every 3,000-5,000 and performed all recommended maintenance on schedule. |

Volvo Cars picks Ember Technologies chief Jim Rowan as new CEO
Tue, Jan 4 2022Jim Rowan (Reuters) Â STOCKHOLM — Volvo Car Group has appointed Jim Rowan as new chief executive to succeed longtime CEO Hakan Samuelsson in March, it said on Tuesday. Rowan, currently CEO at U.S-based Ember Technologies, is taking over just months after Volvo wrapped up its initial public offering, the biggest in Europe last year. He will face the task of steering the carmaker towards its goal to sell 50% pure electric cars by the middle of this decade and electric cars only by 2030. "Volvo Cars is going through a rapid transformation of digitalization, which is why we wanted to bring in someone with global CEO experience from outside the automotive industry," Volvo Chairperson Eric Li said in a statement. Samuelsson joined Volvo's board in 2010 and has been CEO for almost 10 years, with his contract coming to an end this year. Before joining Ember in 2021, Rowan had been CEO of Dyson. Volvo, majority owned by China's Geely Holding, said Samuelsson will stay in his role until Rowan starts in March. Samuelsson will also leave the board, while continuing as chairman of electric vehicle maker Polestar. Polestar, in which Volvo owns 49%, aims to go public through a reverse merger with special-purpose acquisition company (SPAC) Gores Guggenheim. The deal is expected to close in the first half of 2022. Â
Poor headlights cause 40 cars to miss IIHS Top Safety Pick rating
Mon, Aug 6 2018Over the past few months, we've noticed a number of cars and SUVs that have come incredibly close to earning one of the IIHS's highest accolades, the Top Safety Pick rating. They have great crash test scores and solid automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning systems. What trips them up is headlights. That got us wondering, how many vehicles are there that are coming up short because they don't have headlights that meet the organization's criteria for an "Acceptable" or "Good" rating. This is a revision made after 2017, a year in which headlights weren't factored in for this specific award. This is also why why some vehicles, such as the Ford F-150, might have had the award last year, but have lost it for this year. We reached out to someone at IIHS to find out. He responded with the following car models. Depending on how you count, a whopping 40 models crash well enough to receive the rating, but don't get it because their headlights are either "Poor" or "Marginal." We say depending on how you count because the IIHS actual counts truck body styles differently, and the Infiniti Q70 is a special case. Apparently the version of the Q70 that has good headlights doesn't have adequate forward collision prevention technology. And the one that has good forward collision tech doesn't have good enough headlights. We've provided the entire list of vehicles below in alphabetical order. Interestingly, it seems the Volkswagen Group is having the most difficulty providing good headlights with its otherwise safe cars. It had the most models on the list at 9 split between Audi and Volkswagen. GM is next in line with 7 models. It is worth noting again that though these vehicles have subpar headlights and don't quite earn Top Safety Pick awards, that doesn't mean they're unsafe. They all score well enough in crash testing and forward collision prevention that they would get the coveted award if the lights were better.
Volvo Cars delays EX90 production
Thu, May 11 2023Sweden-based Volvo Cars has delayed the start of production of its new Volvo EX90 model for more software development and testing, it said on Thursday, sending its shares down 5%. The company now expects to start production of the fully electric SUV in the first half of 2024, it said in a statement. Volvo Cars, majority owned by China's Geely, unveiled the model late last year, expecting it to hit showrooms in early 2024. Production was previously planned to begin at the end of 2023, a Volvo Cars spokesperson said. He declined to say when the company now expects the model to reach showrooms.
