1983 Volvo 240 Wagon Full Of Extra Parts No Reserve! on 2040-cars
Buckhead, Georgia, United States
This is my 1983 Volvo wagon that I have used in my business for over 10 years. I am sellin it due to health and I am no longer able to maintain my fleet of Volvo's. This car always starts, I have always depended on this car. I would drive it anywhere today. I have always maintained it properly, upgraded things to make it better to use daily. It has overload springs on rear, class III hitch. the old York ac compressor is replaced with a small new compressor. The ac works, the heat works, all lights work, the tires are about 80% good. The bad. I burned the clutch about 8 years ago, it doesn't slip, just chatters on start up. The overdrive has a mind of its own. It works good just not always, I think the solenoid is going bad, all wires and relay has been checked. The paint.. it was painted about 5 years ago, however the clear coat has come off the top,I hit a deer about 3 years ago and replaced the hood. The body is straight only minor dings, the only rust spot is under the side rear window a spot about the size on a pencil eraser. All the extra parts go with the car, leather seats, 3rd seat, door handles later headlights, and anything else I can find 240 will go with it. This is my last 240 and everything goes. I've tried to remember everything but I'm sure I've missed something. I hate to let it go but its time. Great car for parts or restoration. NO RESERVE so it is going. |

Volvo to unveil permanent high-beam headlamp technology [w/video]
Fri, 01 Mar 2013Volvo will be showing off its Active High Beam technology at the Geneva Motor Show next week. The system will allow drivers to use their high beams all the time and adds another responsibility to the cameras mounted by the rearview mirror, making them detect traffic ahead, whether it be another car or a truck or motorcycle and in the same lane or oncoming. When a vehicle is detected, a special projector in the Xenon lamps can block out only the portion of the high beam that would impair the other driver. Volvo says the system is accurate down to a 1.5-inch margin around another object.
Active High Beam will be fitted to the Volvo S60, V60 and XC60 and we have to assume they mean the non-US versions of those cars. Audi has a similar technology that it calls "matrix beam lighting," and due to the way the US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard code is written, such active control of high beams is verboten on cars sold here.
The Swedish brand also plans to present a collision-avoidance technology it's calling a "world-first." The press release below has more information and the accompanying video demonstrates the lighting tech.
Polestar looking to tune Volvo CUVs
Sun, 19 Oct 2014Volvo is getting serious about emerging from the fringes and into the mainstream of the luxury automobile market. But if it's going to challenge the Germans, it's going to need a performance line. And that's just what it's developing with Polestar.
Building on the motorsport partnership that has seen Polestar represent Volvo in the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship, World Touring Car Championship and V8 Supercars series, Polestar has been charged with developing road-going performance Volvos as well. It currently offers comprehensively tuned versions of the S60 and V60, as well as engine upgrades for other models, but the latest word has it that Polestar will turn its attention next to tuning Volvo crossovers like the XC60 and the new XC90, pictured above in top-spec R-Design trim.
Details on how Volvo would modify those models remain to be determined, but it wouldn't be much of a stretch to imagine the XC60 outfitted with similar enhancements to those offered on its sedan and wagon stablemates to mount a challenge to the Audi SQ5. As for the larger XC90, it seems Volvo is already squeezing as much out of its new 2.0-liter triple-charged inline-four as it can, but more aggressive handling, aero and brakes could stand to transform the flagship crossover in pursuit of performance utes like the Mercedes ML63 AMG and BMW X5 M, even if it couldn't quite match their impressive horsepower outputs.
