For sale is this beautiful 2004, Volkswagen Touareg. The Touareg belongs to one of our technicians at Autobahn Auto. He had no intentions of selling the Touareg until he and his girl got the great news that there is a baby on it's way. Yes I'm becoming a Godfather, but it makes me feel old LOL. Anyway they need a bigger place to live and that is the sole reason for selling the Touareg. They already have one newer Volkswagen they are keeping. The person who owned this Touareg before Nathan got it owned it since it was only 8 months old with 12xxx miles. Nathan, our lead technician at Autobahn Auto replaced a lot of parts last month. Both fuel pumps and fuel sending units are brand new, The rear tailgate latch assembly and handle are brand new. He purchased an additional switch blade key, changed the all the fluids and filters. Just got a brand new Virginia State Inspection done to it as well. The Touareg has NO LEAKS of any kind, the Engine and drive train are BONE DRY!!! Needless to say she runs and drives AWESOME. The Touareg is VERY CLEAN. The paint on some of the window and climate buttons have worn paint. There is also a deep scratch in the left front fender and slight dent in the right rear door that is not even noticeable until somebody points it out to you . You can see this by viewing the sliding show of the photo bucket link I added. Just be patient and view all the photos in the sliding show. The tires are little noisy but they have 85% tread on them. Please ask if you have any questions. We will supply temporary plates should you decide to fly in and drive the Touareg home. Check my other auctions because we have many other cars for sale!!

No reserve auction, high bid wins the Touareg at the end of the auction. However, if I get a reasonable offer before the auction ends I will cancel all bids and sell the Touareg. It is also for sale on our lot. If this is something you've always wanted, don't wait for the auction as it might sell before the auction end. One car I listed last week already sold 2 days before the auction ended!!

Nathan is open for all reasonable offers in case you don't like to wait for the auction to   end!!

No warranty, sold as is where is.

Please view all the Photobucket photos as there are a lot more then the eBay photos I listed!!

Recharge Wrap-up: AutoNation CEO calls anti-Tesla laws unnecessary, Common Pence donates subway money

Thu, Nov 13 2014

Volkswagen has presented a list of near-term technologies to improve fuel economy and decrease emissions. The list includes an addition to a coasting function in its stop-start system, a 10-speed DSG transmission and a more power-dense four-cylinder TDI engine. Volkswagen aims to be the world's most sustainable automaker by 2018 through electric mobility, improved design and increased environmental performance from internal combustion vehicles. Volkswagen also announced other technologies for increased interactivity and connectivity in its vehicles. Read more at Green Car Congress. Commence Pence is a system that allows subway riders in London to donate their unused transit money to charity. People visiting the city often load up enough on their subway card (called Oyster Card) to get them through their trip and end up with unused funds leftover. Zander Whitehurst, a British designer, has created a device that can use the card's RFID to accept leftover funds, which then get diverted to charity rather than reverting back to the agency in charge of running the subway fare system. See the video below or read more at Wired. Mike Jackson, CEO of AutoNation has called Michigan's efforts to ban Tesla's direct sales in the state "unnecessary protectionism." The statement comes as a bit of a surprise, as it dissents from the majority of auto dealers who support a franchise model, as well as laws that forbid automakers selling directly to the consumer. "If Elon Musk wants to make a mistake and go with an inefficient distribution system, that's his right as an American," says Jackson, showing he feels he has little to fear from the electric automaker. Jackson has more to say on the matter, which you can read over at Green Car Reports. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. 2013 Volkswagen Golf R Cabriolet

Thu, 07 Mar 2013

The Golf VI's Last Hurrah Is Pure Niche
This was in the heart of the ultra-chic Côte d'Azur during winter. The car to be tested was the not-for-North America 2013 Volkswagen Golf R Cabriolet. Prevailing weather conditions here this time of year are bizarrely pleasant, as though a dome of Swarovski crystal has been placed over the entire region to protect it from any real winter spoiling things. And the zippy Golf R Cabriolet is a sports car designed precisely for this area's preciously narrow winding streets, as well as for the lofty budgets of its property owners.
So then why was it snowing like we were in northern Michigan? The weather front hit from the north like a swift kick to the Jordaches. The roof was open on this Candy White Golf R Cabrio and I, as is my wont, was determined through thick or thin to keep it retracted. It had been raining and sometimes sleeting like the End of Days, but I kept the lid cracked because the 261-horsepower cabrio - the most powerful convertible ever built by Volkswagen - was snipping along nicely as the bad weather blew over my head and wetted only the rear headrests.

VW decides against active-cooling system for e-Golf lithium battery

Tue, Apr 1 2014

When the 2015 VW e-Golf was introduced at the LA Auto Show last year, VW said it would come with a water-cooled battery. During the Detroit Auto Show, when the car was trotted out again, VW released a new press release that stripped out the "water-cooled" language, but this change went unnoticed. During a recent VW event in Germany, a friend from Green Car Reports realized that the battery on display did not seem to have any water-cooling mechanisms. That set us off on a bit of a sleuthing and we have now learned that VW is not going to include any active cooling in the upcoming e-Golf. In fact, the company is entirely confident that this car - because of what it's designed to do - doesn't need it. "The need for a cooling system wasn't there" - VW's Darryll Harrison VW has been working on an electrified Golf for ages now, and so changes to the plan are to be expected. But battery cooling is vitally important not just to keep the car operating properly but because when things get too hot, there can be serious public relations problems. Nissan began testing a new battery chemistry for the Leaf in 2013 after an uproar from warm-weather EV drivers in Arizona who were experiencing worse-than-expected battery performance. The Leaf has always used an air-cooled battery, which is another way to say that there is no active cooling system (more details here). Tesla CEO Elon Musk once said this approach is "primitive." So, why is VW following the same path? We asked Darryll Harrison, VW US's manager of brand public relations west, for more information, and he told AutoblogGreen that VW engineers discovered through a lot of testing of the Golf Mk6 EV prototypes, that battery performance was not impacted by temperatures when using the right battery chemistry. That chemistry, it turns out, is lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide (NMC) in cells from Panasonic. These cells had "the lowest self-warming tendency and the lowest memory effect of all cells tested," Harrison said. He added that VW engineers tested the NMC cells in places like Death Valley and Arizona and found they didn't warm very quickly either through operation, charging (including during fast charging) or through high ambient temps. "The need for a cooling system wasn't there," Harrison said.
