VERY RARE V10 TWIN-TURBO DIESEL WITH LOW MILEAGE. Hi, we have decided to sell our 2004 V10 Diesel Volkswagen Touareg with only 85,173 miles on it. It was primarily her car and she, being a substitute school teacher, drove this back and forth to the various schools in our area with the occasional trip out of town. This car has been meticulously maintained by our local Volkswagen dealership with all maintenance done at the specified intervals. We are the second owner and purchased this vehicle with a little over 7000 miles on it.

This vehicle is one of the finest examples of German engineering and is highly sought after because of its rarity and fine reputation. It has a very powerful 315bhp twin-turbocharged diesel engine with a HUGE 553lb-ft. of torque which is better that most trucks have. This is a heavy SUV and full of all sorts of safety features. Despite its weight it gets excellent fuel mileage at 22-26 mpg Highway and 18-20mpg around town. It is a very comfortable and easy-to-drive vehicle for in town driving or open road touring. This model has the 'winter package' which has both front and back, left and right individual climate controls. It even has a pass-through from the rear luggage area through the back seat complete with bag for skis and poles for ski buffs.

It has every option available including navigation (NAVI) with discs that include all USA and Canada, premium factory sound system with the optional 6-disc cd player, keyless entry with two remotes, front and rear parking sensors, power heated memory front seats with three memory settings, heated steering wheel which is also power adjustable, heated and remote controlled outside mirrors, and it even has a cooling feature in the glove box to keep a water bottle cold. It features an adjustable/removeable luggage rack, all-weather floor mats and rear cargo tray. It also has the powered moon roof and window shades for the rear door windows.

This has the Tip-Tronic automatic transmission with a manual mode. It has adjustable height suspension for off-road use (which we never used). It also has high and low speeds in four wheel drive mode. The tires are NITTO TERRA GRAPPLER All-Terrain tires with a little over 20,000 miles on them so still have good tread life (see pictures).  It is a non-smoker vehicle and interior upholstery is in excellent condition.

The outside finish has minor imperfections from normal road use but is in overall very good to excellent condition. This has been one of the best cars we have ever owned and it is with regret that we are selling but it is time to move on. It is a bargain compared to the new ones which I believe are in the 70k+ range and with such low mileage should give someone years of enjoyment. I have included lots of pictures to show as much as possible about this vehicle. This vehicle has never been in an accident.

Which electric cars can charge at a Tesla Supercharger?

Sun, Jul 9 2023

The difference between Tesla charging and non-Tesla charging. Electrify America; Tesla Tesla's advantage has long been its charging technology and Supercharger network. Now, more and more automakers are switching to Tesla's charging tech. But there are a few things non-Tesla drivers need to know about charging at a Tesla station. A lot has hit the news cycle in recent months with regard to electric car drivers and where they can and can't plug in. The key factor in all of that? Whether automakers switched to Tesla's charging standard. More car companies are shifting to Tesla's charging tech in the hopes of boosting their customers' confidence in going electric.  Here's what it boils down to: If you currently drive a Tesla, you can keep charging at Tesla charging locations, which use the company's North American Charging Standard (NACS), which has long served it well. The chargers are thinner, more lightweight and easier to wrangle than other brands.  If you currently drive a non-Tesla EV, you have to charge at a non-Tesla charging station like that of Electrify America or EVgo — which use the Combined Charging System (CCS) — unless you stumble upon a Tesla charger already equipped with the Magic Dock adapter. For years, CCS tech dominated EVs from everyone but Tesla.  Starting next year, if you drive a non-Tesla EV (from the automakers that have announced they'll make the switch), you'll be able to charge at all Supercharger locations with an adapter. And by 2025, EVs from some automakers won't even need an adaptor.  Here's how to charge up, depending on which EV you have:  Ford 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. Tim Levin/Insider Ford was the earliest traditional automaker to team up with Tesla for its charging tech. Current Ford EV owners — those driving a Ford electric vehicle already fitted with a CCS port — will be able to use a Tesla-developed adapter to access Tesla Superchargers starting in the spring. That means that, if you own a Mustang Mach-E or Ford F-150 Lightning, you will need the adapter in order to use a Tesla station come 2024. But Ford will equip its future EVs with the NACS port starting in 2025 — eliminating the need for any adapter. Owners of new Ford EVs will be able to pull into a Supercharger station and juice up, no problem. General Motors Cadillac Lyriq. Cadillac GM will also allow its EV drivers to plug into Tesla stations.

FCA to pay buyers $1,700 to swap out of scandal-mired VWs

Tue, Oct 6 2015

FCA is trying to gain some sales from arch-rival VW in the competitive European market by offering potential buyers in Italy up to $1,700 to swap into an FCA group car. While the promotion isn't specifically targeted at TDI owners affected by the emissions scandal, it is clearly intended to turn dissatisfaction with VW's defeat device cheat into additional sales, Bloomberg reports. The 500-1,500 euro incentive (roughly $560-1,700, depending on vehicle) stacks on top of any other rebates or deals applicable, and applies if a buyer brings in any of Volkswagen Group's cars – including Audi, Skoda, and SEAT, among (many) others. As Bloomberg notes, it's normal for automakers to offer "conquest" deals – giving a buyer cash for trading in a competitor's vehicle. Those deals aren't usually limited to one company's products, however; FCA's program looks specifically to take advantage of VW's legal and public relations nightmare. FCA isn't the only automaker trying this trick in Italy. Automotive News Europe also reported that Ford is offering approximately $840 in incentives across its entire range to owners of VW vehicles seeking to trade in for a Ford. No word of yet as to whether these incentives will spread beyond Italy or to other automakers.Related Video:

BMW, Ferrari, VW cars use tungsten mined by terrorists

Thu, 08 Aug 2013

Bloomberg Markets is reporting that BMW, Volkswagen and Ferrari have been using tungsten ore sourced from Columbia's FARC rebel terrorists. The extensive story focuses on Columbia's illegal mining trade and calls into question the provenance of the rare ore that is used not only in crankshaft parts production, but is also found in the world's computing and telecommunications industry for use in screens.
The ore is mined by the FARC (Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia, or Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia - People's Army), and exported to Pennsylvania, where it is refined. The refined ore is then sent over to Austria, where a company called Plansee turns it into a finished product. Now, it's important to note that we aren't talking about the world's supply of tungsten here. In 2012, Plansee's American refinery purchased 93.2 metric tons of tungsten, valued at $1.8 million. That's peanuts, with the entire Colombian tungsten mining industry producing just one percent of the world's supplies.
That doesn't make indirectly supporting FARC any more acceptable, though. BMW, VW and Ferrari are all committed to not accepting mineral supplies from the Democratic Republic of Congo, which is also in the grips of a guerrilla insurrection funded, in part, by illegal mining. The same commitment would figure to extend to Colombian mining, but as BMW points out, it's difficult for a multi-national manufacturer to know where every item in its supply chain comes from. A company spokesperson says as much, telling Bloomberg, "These few grams out of the billions of tons of raw materials passing through the BMW supply chain are of no practical relevance."
