2004 Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI.  This is probably one of the lowest mileage V10 Touaregs out there.  I was specifically looking for a Black/Teak last summer from the south super nice with real low miles.  This was in Miami and I had it shipped up to Michigan from the original owner.  I have the need to get back into a truck so I have purchased a 2500HD Diesel and am ready to sell the Touareg.  I have had a few of them and absolutely love the V10.  If you have any interest please call and I can discuss it with you and we can put a deal together.  517-918-3653 Brandon

It is as loaded up as you can get.  It has some rare options as well.  Black exterior and Teak interior.  Navigation, Air suspension, electronic ride control, heated front AND REAR seats, 4 zone climate control, HEATED STEERING WHEEL, Onstar, locking differentials, etc. etc.

It is all original paint and has never been damaged.  Paint looks great and is polished up and shines like new.  Interior and exterior are clean and nice.  It has the factory 19" wheels which have been done black and a new set of Bridgestone Blizzak snow tires.  Only thing I can critique about it is the rear climate control must have gotten some cleaner or something on it and that Volkswagen soft touch black on the buttons is sticky and wore off some.  A couple of front buttons are a bit like that but I am very picky and hate that so I replaced the front climate controll and headlight switch and the navigation unit looks new and perfect.  Only ones in front showing anything are the little heated seat dials.  Also the plastic latched in the top of the rear seats to put them down are cracked or broke must be from the Florida heat.  I put new black Volkswagen embroidered floor mats in it.  New Weathertech rear cargo liner.

I'll list the aftermarket or mods....

-Dyno-Comp ECU tune.  419 HP 750 ft./lbs. of torque with tune.  It is awesome and runs amazing.  I did a lot of research on buying a tune and spoke with several people.  This tune was by far the most expesive but was the one I trusted the most to be reliable and perfect.  Below is from their website.  Tune was $1295

Just because the price of diesel is going to sky rocket this summer doesn’t mean there is no light at the end of the tunnel for your VW TDI. With the help of Dyno-Comp you can not only pick up power but you will also see a significant increase in fuel economy. This V10 Touareg picked up over 85 ft lbs of torque at the wheels with nothing more then our own in house software! If you have been considering doing a software package to your car the biggest benefits that you will notice are increased power, increased fuel economy, better towing capabilities, top speed limiter removed, and a quicker throttle response. Here is an idea of the power you can expect from this software upgrade…

Bone Stock: 2006 VW Touareg V10 TDI

REAL WORLD this is what a 2006 VW Touareg V10 TDI puts down for power..

  • 260 (Wheel HP) x 1.35 = 351 at the flywheel.
  • 470 (Wheel TQ) x 1.35 = 635 at the flywheel.

These numbers were taken from a stock car and may vary.

  • HP is now at 310 (at the wheels) which equates out to about 419 HP at the flywheel.
  • TQ is now at 555 (at the wheels) which is approx 750 TQ at the flywheel.

At the end of the day what does all this mean…

  • +68 HP increase at the flywheel.
  • +115 TQ increase at the flywheel.

-Exhaust system.  Custom Mandrel bent and TIG welded secondary CAT delete pipes and full rear section with muffler delete and tips.

-Tinted headlights, taillights and marker lights.  Done with film and removeable.  Blacked out trim and emblems.  Also removeable.  Tinted front windows.

-K & N filters in stock airboxes.

-OEM integration Ipod/aux audio input.

I also have a set of Sport-Comp forged aluminum black powdercoated 22" wheels in perfect condition with new Yokohama tires.  Wheels are over $1000 each and tires about $300 each.  Over 5K new.  They can be purchased for a VERY FAIR additional cost if your interested.

VW going turbo-only in 3 to 4 years

Wed, 18 Sep 2013

This really was a matter of when, rather than if. Volkswagen will apparently be the first manufacturer to phase out naturally aspirated engines in favor of turbocharging its full slate. VW is kind of responsible for ushering in this push towards small-displacement, turbocharged engines that's taken the industry by storm. When it dropped its direct-injection, 2.0-liter turbo in the 2005 GTI it demonstrated that strapping an iron long to an engine can enhance the powertrain as a whole. VW made fuel economy gains, while also giving a linear, non-laggy turbo experience that it has replicated, model-after-model, to this day.
Speaking with The Detroit News, Volkswagen's executive Vice President of Group Quality, Marc Trahan, told the paper that, "We only have one normally aspirated gas engine, and when we go to the next generation vehicle that it's in, it will be replaced. So three, four years maximum."
Really, it's hard to get teary-eyed about either of these engines going away. VW has access to smaller powerplants that could easily match the performance of the 2.5 five-cylinder and the 3.6 V6, while gobbling up less fuel and providing a better driving experience. What we are sad about is that a similar statement about the extinction of NA engines came from the Vice President of Powertrain Engineering at Ford, Joe Bakaj. We'd certainly get teary-eyed over a world without Ford's excellent 5.0-liter V8.

Audi buys Ballard fuel cell patents for $80 million

Wed, Feb 11 2015

While some auto companies (e.g., Toyota and Hyundai) are giving away some hydrogen fuel cell patents, others are paying a pretty penny to gain access to the H2 tech. Audi announced today that it has purchased a suite of fuel-cell patent from Ballard Power Systems. The deal between Volkswagen Group and the Canadian fuel cell pioneer is worth over $80 million US. Unsurprisingly, the value of Ballard's stock shot up about a dollar (to $2.61 as of this writing) on the announcement. VW and Ballard will also extend their development agreement, originally scheduled to end in 2017, to March 2019, and possibly another two years after that. Thus far, the deal – which revolves around the "design and manufacture of next-generation fuel cell stacks" for VW's H2 demonstration program – and Ballard says it is a leader in "critical areas of fuel cell product design – including the membrane electrode assembly (MEA), plate and stack components – along with certain testing and integration work." At the LA Auto Show last fall, VW showed off a Golf SportWagen and a Passat with a hydrogen hybrid HyMotion powertrain as well as a Audi A7 Sportback H-Tron Quattro. Audi buys fuel-cell patents from Ballard Power Systems Development agreement with Ballard extended until 2019 Audi's Head of Development Prof. Hackenberg: "The entire VW Group will use these patents." Ingolstadt/Burnaby, February 11, 2015 – AUDI AG has acquired a package of patents relating to fuel-cell technology from Ballard Power Systems Inc. In addition, the Volkswagen Group has extended its cooperation with the Canadian clean energy company until 2019. The purchase of these patents will provide new impetus for the development of fuel-cell drive systems at Audi, VW and the Volkswagen Group. As explained by Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Member of the Board of Management for Technical Development at AUDI AG and responsible for the steering of the development departments of all brands in the VW Group: "Audi is acquiring these strategically important patents for the entire group and will make them available to all the brands. In this way, we are securing crucial expertise that will provide new impetus for the further development of this technology." Ballard Power Systems Inc. is based in Burnaby, Canada, and is one of the world's leading companies in the technology of proton exchange membrane fuel cells.
