Up for auction today is a 1981 VW Raddy Caddy. This is a clean truck that is in perfect running order. I got this truck 6 months ago for a family member in California, they have a kid coming now so they need something bigger. I built (from the ground up) a 1.6L diesel motor for it. It has had about 6k miles on it since the rebuild. It gets about 40 MPG city and 48 hwy. The injection pump and injectors have been rebuilt to run biodiesel. It is a 81 so it is not perfect cosmetically ( It was built 10/80 so that makes it a 81). Over all for its age it looks good and drives great. The A/C I was told worked before the motor was removed. I am not a A/C guy so I can not say. The bed in this truck is in great condition. I have owned about 20 of these thing now and this ones bed is better than I have seen. I love the color of this truck because it looks good clean or dirty. Please read all the good and bad about this truck so you know what you are getting. Here is the good and bad.
Good:
1. Rebuilt motor 6k ago.
2. Rebuilt injection pump 6k ago.
3. Transmission is out of a 50k mile car.
4. New battery 6k ago.
5. New radiator on 4/17/13.
6. Alternator rebuilt 18k ago.
7. New timing belt 6k ago.
8. Front tires 80% good
9. Rear tires new 6k ago.
10. All lights and electrical work great.
11. New windshield and gasket going in this week before auction end.
12. Interior is in good condition.
13. Bed liner has been in it most of its life.
14. Bed is in great condition, no dents.
15. Shocks and shock mounts new 20k ago
16. Brakes are 80% good.
17. CD player.
18. Has A/C.
19. Has a nice head liner.
Bad.
1. A/C needs charged or something. I do not know what is wrong with it.
2. One bad rust spot on lower front part of right side door. It is about 3"x1"
3. Dash is cracked all over.
4. Paint is good but has dings and small spots of surface rust her and there.
5. Wing windows do not open.
6. Front grill has some cracks.
7. Drivers seat has a crack.
8. Tail gate is dented on out side, but very straight under the bed liner.
There might be something I missed but I try and do a honest accounting of anything I sale so the buyer knows what they are getting. This is a great truck and drives out great. I got to drive it back from Cali and I love it. Please ask questions if you have them. Truck is sold as is, no warranty. If you want the truck shipped I can drop it off in Portland or Salem Oregon. My zip is 97071. I can also pick you up at Portland airport PDX so you can drive it home if you like. If you are local and would like to see and drive the truck you can call Me at 619-253-0955 and I am Joshua. Truck is listed locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction early. Please look over all the picture this is the truck your bidding on. I will be making a video and posting it on youtube soon. Thank you for your time and happy bidding.

The UK votes for Brexit and it will impact automakers
Fri, Jun 24 2016It's the first morning after the United Kingdom voted for what's become known as Brexit – that is, to leave the European Union and its tariff-free internal market. Now begins a two-year process in which the UK will have to negotiate with the rest of the EU trading bloc, which is its largest export market, about many things. One of them may be tariffs, and that could severely impact any automaker that builds cars in the UK. This doesn't just mean companies that you think of as British, like Mini and Jaguar. Both of those automakers are owned by foreign companies, incidentally. Mini and Rolls-Royce are owned by BMW, Jaguar and Land Rover by Tata Motors of India, and Bentley by the VW Group. Many other automakers produce cars in the UK for sale within that country and also export to the EU. Tariffs could damage the profits of each of these companies, and perhaps cause them to shift manufacturing out of the UK, significantly damaging the country's resurgent manufacturing industry. Autonews Europe dug up some interesting numbers on that last point. Nissan, the country's second-largest auto producer, builds 475k or so cars in the UK but the vast majority are sent abroad. Toyota built 190k cars last year in Britain, of which 75 percent went to the EU and just 10 percent were sold in the country. Investors are skittish at the news. The value of the pound sterling has plummeted by 8 percent as of this writing, at one point yesterday reaching levels not seen since 1985. Shares at Tata Motors, which counts Jaguar and Land Rover as bright jewels in its portfolio, were off by nearly 12 percent according to Autonews Europe. So what happens next? No one's terribly sure, although the feeling seems to be that the jilted EU will impost tariffs of up to 10 percent on UK exports. It's likely that the UK will reciprocate, and thus it'll be more expensive to buy a European-made car in the UK. Both situations will likely negatively affect the country, as both production of new cars and sales to UK consumers will both fall. Evercore Automotive Research figures the combined damage will be roughly $9b in lost profits to automakers, and an as-of-yet unquantified impact on auto production jobs. Perhaps the EU's leaders in Brussels will be in a better mood in two years, and the process won't devolve into a trade war. In the immediate wake of the Brexit vote, though, the mood is grim, the EU leadership is angry, and investors are spooked.
