Hello and Welcome. Featured here is my great running, partially restored 1982 VOLKSWAGEN RABBIT PICKUP TRUCK (CADDY) DIESEL.  This is the deluxe version(LX model) which is a little more luxuriously appointed, and has a few more creature comforts than the base model vehicle, such as better cabin insulation and sound-deadening, 5-speed manual overdrive transmission, this is a highly desirable, hard to find vehicle that I'm not happy about selling. I spent more money on this truck than I could ever imagine recovering, but my loss is your gain!! This truck is fully loaded including a modern, powerful 1.9 Liter Diesel engine, factory A/C, CD Player, Sport Suspension, and Vented Front Disc Brakes.

I bought this truck in 2008 which is when most of the work was done, since that time it has been garage kept and driven under 100miles/year only during the summer months and never in the winter.  This is an amazing little truck and is just a few steps away from a full restoration.  Since buying this vehicle in 2008 i've had two kids and can no longer keep cash tied up in a "project" as wife calls it.

The work that was done in 2008 includes the following:

****NOTE**** MOST of the parts used in this restoration are genuine VW/Audi items, many of them are OEM, NOS. So, most of you know that genuine parts do NOT come cheap. I spared no expense ! There are no generic Pep Boys/Kragen parts used with the exception of maybe a nut or bolt or something extremely minor. So, if you want something nice, this is it!

This is a solid vehicle. The body is fairly nice and straight, the doors shut nice and tight, the bed is almost flawless, the tail-gate is straight and shuts nice, the dashboard is in good shape, the carpeting, door panels are all in very decent shape considering this truck is 33 years old! The seats are in good shape.  All lights, instruments and horn work well. The AC could use a recharge but does blow cool, not cold.  The new AM/FM/CD Player makes fairly nice sounds. The new 1.9 liter Diesel Engine (Engine Code AAZ) is smooth and quiet, partly due to its hydraulic lifters which never need adjusting, and much more powerful and torquey than the old stock 1.5 Diesel engine it replaced, (68HP/100ft.lbs torque vs 48HP 60ft.lbs torque)allows this truck to cruise the Interstate comfortably at 65 MPH in 5th gear all day long without even breaking a sweat! It goes up most hills without having to down-shift and is absolutely a pleasure to drive.

****NOTE**** The engine used here is a factory Turbo-Diesel (TD) Block, and in the current configuration puts out almost identical performance figures to the old and now obsolete 1.6TD engine which a lot of folks like to stick in these vehicles,  it achieves an excellent Power-To-Weight Ratio for this particular vehicle, without the added hassles and cost of turbocharging. However, if you feel the need to, you could always bolt on a turbo to this engine as it is already capable of being turbocharged.

This Caddy steers straight, the 5-speed manual overdrive transmission w/all new linkage parts shifts crisply and smoothly, it accelerates and stops well, with the GTI Vented Rotors in front, and goes over bumps nice and quiet. It handles really well, with the help of GTI suspension bits which it has been upgraded to, including the addition of a factory GTI sway-bar in the front. Overall, this is a very nice vehicle, and, with proper maintenance and regular oil changes should last forever. These Rabbit Diesels are famous for longevity, reliability, and practicality, and at barely 150K miles on the chassis this one has a lot of life left in it.  Almost everything on this vehicle which in my opinion needed repair or replacement has been discarded and was replaced with NEW OEM parts. That includes all the items listed above and maybe a few more items which I might have over-looked. This truck represents excellent value for your money. It looks sharp and runs great, and turns heads everywhere! NOT to mention that Diesel engines get great fuel mileage, at an average between 40-45 MPG, and, if you install a Bio-Diesel or WVO kit, you could be running this fine truck for next to nothing!

Please contact us for further details. Thank You. and Happy Bidding.

I have tried to describe this vehicle to the best of my knowledge and ability, but if I have unknowingly missed anything, I sincerely apologize.

Please remember that this is NOT a brand NEW vehicle. This vehicle is still 31 years old and may still have a few imperfections, however minor. Overall, this is still a very fine example of a by-gone era in automotive engineering.

****NOTE**** FOLKS, IT’S TRUE THERE ARE PLENTY OF SUCH VEHICLES OUT THERE IN THE $200-$5000 RANGE. THIS DOES NOT, HOWEVER, HAPPEN TO BE ONE OF THEM. SO, IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR A CHEAP BEATER TO DRIVE TO WORK THEN THIS TRUCK MOST DEFINITELY IS NOT IT. SO PLEASE DO NOT INSULT OUR INTELLIGENCE BY TRYING TO LOW-BALL US. SURELY YOU KNOW HOW MUCH ALL THIS STUFF COSTS………. THIS VEHICLE DOES HAVE PLENTY GOING FOR IT, SO PLEASE TRY TO BE REASONABLE AND BID ACCORDINGLY. THE RESERVE IS SET AT A PRETTY REASONABLE AMOUNT, WAY BELOW WHAT  I HAVE ACTUALITY HAVE INVESTED INTO THIS FINE VEHICLE.

German judge 'inclined to dismiss' hedge fund lawsuit against Porsche

Fri, Feb 27 2015

Last year, around two dozen investors, including hedge funds, leveled a 1.4 billion euro ($1.95 billion at the time) lawsuit against Porsche in connection with the automaker's attempted takeover of Volkswagen in 2008. The Stuttgart Regional Court dismissed the case. Around 19 of those plaintiffs are heading back to court to appeal the ruling and still hope to get 1.2 billion euros ($1.4 billion). However, according to one German judge, the chances for success aren't any better this time around. "On balance it's our view that we consider the lawsuit, or the appeal, to be unpromising for several reasons," Gerhard Ruf, a judge in Stuttgart, said to Reuters. "We are inclined to dismiss the case." The court's ruling on the appeal will be announced on March 26. The investors' case hinges on Porsche's strategy surrounding the botched takeover. The sports car maker said that it wasn't trying to control VW, when in fact it was. These hedge funds had bet against Volkswagen stock, but the share price surged when Porsche's plan inevitably came to light. Investors have sued the sports car company multiple times since then in attempts to recoup billions of dollars. However, none of the lawsuits have been successful, whether attempted in the US or Germany. Former Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking and and CFO Holger Haerter might still stand trial for the alleged stock manipulation, though. German prosecutors have recorded calls between VW bigwigs talking dieselgate

Thu, Mar 21 2019

It's barely possible to believe how poorly Volkswagen continues to handle dieselgate. Depending on which day you catch the news, the German carmaker embodies the corporate venality of "Michael Clayton," the comic blundering of the Coen Brothers' "Burn After Reading," and the every-man-for-himself vengeance of "Reservoir Dogs." Today is Tarantino day, with news that German prosecutors have recordings of phone calls between former Audi and Porsche development boss Wolfgang Hatz, ex-Volkswagen Group executive Matthias Muller, and current Porsche executives Oliver Blume and Michael Steiner. Hatz made the calls to the trio in November 2015, two months after Volkswagen admitted its diesel-particulate sins to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Hatz was still employed at the time, and in his company car. Who recorded the calls? His wife. Hatz and his missus apparently saw the storm coming and started stacking defenses early. Hatz's wife, who can be heard encouraging Hatz during at least one call, sent the recordings to Hatz's attorney from her mobile phone. According to a Google translation of the German newspaper Handelsblatt's report, she included the note, "Here is a very long, but quite informative conversation on the current situation with useful formulations." The report in Handelsblatt said that in Germany it is generally "not allowed" to record a conversation and pass it on to a third party. We don't know how the authorities will handle this matter, since prosecutors found the recordings in e-mail attachments on Mrs. Hatz's mobile phone. Remember, when the diesel scandal broke, VW spent months saying that only a small number of low-level personnel were behind it, and all of the higher-ups had been blindsided. Ex-CEO Martin Winterkorn claimed to be "stunned that misconduct on such a scale was possible in the Volkswagen Group." Winterkorn successor Matthias Muller said, "according to current information, a few developers interfered in the engine management." Former VW USA honcho Michael Horn told a congressional committee that "a couple of software engineers" programmed the software for reasons no one could understand. In the recorded conversations, Hatz apparently called Muller to find out how VW planned to treat him.

The Volkswagen Group switches official language to English

Wed, Dec 14 2016

The Volkswagen Group can't be fairly thought of as entirely German anymore, so the news that the company is switching its official language to English to help attract managers and executives is a rational, if surprising, decision. While many VW Group companies are still staidly German in character and culture, consider the other companies that it controls: Bentley (British), Bugatti (French), Ducati and Lamborghini (Italian), Skoda (Czech), Scania trucks (Swedish), and SEAT (Spanish). Not to mention the large Volkswagen Group of America operation, which constructs cars in Chattanooga, TN. Volkswagen's explicit motivation is to improve management recruitment – making sure the company isn't losing out on candidates for important positions because they can't speak German – and that's inherently sensible in a globalized economy. Particularly considering, like it or lump it, that English is the lingua franca of said global economy. It also should make it inherently easier to communicate between its world-wide subsidiaries and coordinate operations. It's hard to say for sure if this will have any impact on the consumer, although it's easy to see the benefits if, say, VW Group hires some American product planners or engineers and they push for features and designs that more closely suit American needs. After all, the US is a hugely important market for any manufacturer, and so the switch to English almost certainly has something to do with the outsized influence of the US in the global economy. And there doesn't seem to be a downside from a purely rational perspective, although it could mean that the Group's corporate culture becomes less German. Whether that's a good or a bad thing depends on your perspective.
