No Reserve! 1981 Volkswagen Rabbit Pickup Base Standard Cab Pickup 2-door 1.6l on 2040-cars
Salt Lake City, Utah, United States
I've had this one for about a year, it's been a great driver. since it's been warm I've been driving it every day again. Located in Salt Lake City, UT
needs: -little bit leaky out of the oil pan, I figure whatever though, it's a MKI that's the only real problem at this point. good stuff: new front outer CV boots when I bought it. new thermostatic fan switch. everything else is fine as far as I can tell. it looks good, it's dirty inside but h4s are cool, I have a front bumper for it, thumbs up all around except that drippy pan listed above. comes with a spiffy front valence, a strut tower support bar (full race truck!!), sits on racelands and drop plates, I think I have another set of drop plates that bring it up a little too. tires are fine. starts every time I try as long as the cold start is pulled and sometimes I have to give it a little throttle on the first start, then it's fine all day. it's been a really handy truck and a great commuter and work truck for fixing up my house. I bought a tacoma though so now I don't need it for anything. no rust on the strut towers at all, only rust is in the bed, with only one small rust hole on the right rear fender. this also comes with an extra engine for it that needs rebuilding but it also comes with a turbo kit with a banged up downpipe and the oil lines all done on it. looks like it'll need a hone, rings, and head work. i was going to drive it while building that engine for it this spring but I'm going back to school and moving out of town in a few months so I need to get rid of my projects. also comes with a vac. pump rebuild kit and a new thermostat, these parts were acting up in the cold of winter when I drove it a couple times, but I switched the vac pump with a good used one, and the thermostat seems to be working fine now. when in doubt, ask before you bid. I did my best to describe the truck here. if you bid, you are committed to buying the truck. i will help load the truck to the best of my abilities but I will not arrange shipping for you. $500 deposit due via paypal within 24 hours of auction close, balance due in cash or bank check only within 7 days, car must be gone within 7 days of auction close. |

Volkswagen unveils sportier Passat Performance Concept ahead of Detroit debut
Fri, 11 Jan 2013Ahead of its official unveiling at next week's Detroit Auto Show, Volkswagen has released some preliminary details and images of its Passat Performance Concept - a car that, as its name suggests, adds a little more spice to the automaker's midsize sedan formula. VW makes no mention of any production intent for this road-ready-looking sedan, simply stating that the Performance Concept is a way to "explore this practical four-door's sportier side."
It certainly doesn't look too sporty, the only visual upgrades being larger 19-inch wheels, dual exhaust, bi-xenon headlamps with VW's Advanced Front Lighting system, LED taillmaps and carbon-look mirror caps. Inside, there are carbon interior accents and two-tone leather upholstery. But no matter, the real upgrades for this mightier Passat are found below the sheetmetal.
Powering the Performance Concept is a 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, churning out 250 horsepower and sending its grunt to the ground via a six-speed automatic transmission. For reference, that's 80 more horsepower than the Passat's base 2.5-liter inline-five, but 20 horsepower less than the potent 3.6-liter VR6. As for other performance upgrades, Volkswagen has fitted the car with a lowered sport suspension and revamped electronic steering, which should indeed add a bit more dynamic feedback to the already nice-driving sedan.
Volkswagen says goodbye to Eos, Routan in 2015 updates
Wed, 23 Jul 2014Usually automakers announce changes to their lineup individually on a vehicle-by-vehicle basis, but sometimes it all comes at once - especially when the changes are ones we either expected or might not otherwise notice. That's the path Volkswagen has gone with changes to its US lineup for 2015.
The biggest change is what we already knew: that the new Golf arrives for the 2015 model year, bringing with it the new GTI, Golf R, e-Golf and Golf SportWagen (to replace the previous Jetta wagon). But there are some new details as well.
For starters, Volkswagen has finally confirmed that both the Eos and the Routan - both long rumored to be on their way out - will be exiting this year. The Eos hardtop convertible, pictured above, will linger for one last year, its Sport trim replaced by a new Final Edition with 18-inch wheels, two-tone leather interior and enhanced equipment.
VW stock plummets as Euro markets open
Mon, Sep 21 2015The fallout from Volkswagen's installation of an emissions "defeat device" on nearly 500,000 diesel-fueled models in the US is already hitting the automaker hard on the German stock exchange. At one point, the share price plummeted 23 percent to erase the equivalent of $17.6 billion in value. Things eventually bounced back slightly to a still severe 19.23 percent loss, according to Bloomberg as of this writing. The scandal couldn't come at a worse time for chairman Martin Winterkorn. The VW supervisory board takes up the issue of renewing his contract on September 25, Bloomberg reports. If things get bad enough, the door could be open for a new boss to step in. Dealers in the US might start feeling the pain from this, as well. Affected 2015 VWs that are still at showrooms are now under a stop sale. Until the issue is straightened out, the Environmental Protection Agency isn't certifying the company's 2016 diesel models with the 2.0 TDI, either. The diesel emissions problem was first discovered by research from West Virginia University and the International Council on Clean Transportation. In some cases, the engines can produce 40 times more nitrogen oxides than allowed. The automaker could be on the hook for $18 billion in fines for the breach, but the actual figure is expected to be lower. In response, Winterkorn has issued a public apology and ordered an independent investigation into what happened. The EPA and California Air Resources Board have also been looking into the situation. This could become an international problem, though. According to The Detroit News, European authorities might begin similar inquires to check the automaker's diesel emissions there.
