I picked pepe' up from the original owners estate sale this summer as a project. it had been sitting for a couple of years so I have replaced a bunch of stuff. New battery, head gasket, timing belt, intake manifold gasket, FULL tune up, new fuel pump, fuel distribution pump ( including full cleaning and tuning of the fuel injection system, rebuilt the drum brakes, all new metric vacuum and vent lines, new exhaust, flushed all fluids, i have recently added (2) snow tires for the front and I am sure a bunch of other stuff that i can't remember.

I have been driving pepe' to work every day since august and he has never given me a problem and even got me 30+ MPG he drives straight handles good and even manages to keep up on the freeway ( barely).

Pepe' is still kind of a project and could use a few things but I have been driving him as is ,he is an super rare Lx 5 speed with pretty much every option available in 82.( no bug guard or moon visor) he is complete and he even still has the Porsche transistor radio that works great. A short list of what he still needs: hood latch release cable ( it works just not well) cv boots I have a set from parts place for vw's that i will include. parking brake cable ( i rebuilt the drums but have not gotten to replacing the cable it is seized up) heater control switch. the heater works great and if i pop the hood I can manually adjust it you just have to push so hard I am afraid it is going to break. drivers side wing window latch , and driver side window crank. The AC is complete but the belt had been removed when I got it and I have not tried to do anything with it. the exhaust was rotted and in a moment of high school flashback i just threw on a glass pack it works great but it is damned annoying.

Pepe' is an amazing example of a mostly original example I will deliver within 100 miles of my home or help the winning builder load it only. Cash or certified funds only.

New VW Beetle Convertible ad needs no disguise

Convertibles make you do funny things. Ask someone if they'd drive a hardtop in near freezing temperatures with all the windows down and they might not even answer, thinking the question so ridiculous. Give that same person a convertible they love and you might just have to ask them to please put the top up even when snow is on the ground.
That guy has to take precautions to enjoy his proclivities, and as this new ad for the Volkswagen Beetle Convertible shows, not everyone understands. Have a watch below, and note that there's just one woman in the minute-long spot, and she's nowhere near the car. Seriously, why didn't VW run this commercial during the Super Bowl?

With the unveiling of the GMC Hummer EV, the list of planned electric pickups is expanding. Legacy automakers like Ford and Chevy have theirs coming, as do startups like Tesla, Rivian and Bollinger, as well as some lesser known brands. Here are all the electric pickup trucks we know to be in the works, along with a few that are being discussed or mulled over. Anti-union group files lawsuit against VW and UAW

The fight for unionization at Volkswagen's Chattanooga, TN, factory isn't letting up. Yesterday, the National Labor Relations Board decided to allow anti-United Auto Workers employees at the plant the right to defend voting down the measure. Now, a group called the National Right to Work Foundation has filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of five workers against VW and the UAW for allegedly working together to organize.
The group says in a release that it wants "to block further collusion between the company and the United Auto Workers." It alleges that VW forced workers to attend "mandatory pro-union meetings" and prevented managers from opposing. In a rebuttal on its website, the UAW called the claims "baseless" and said its actions were entirely legal.
One possible problem faces the carmaker in regards to the lawsuit. According to the Detroit Free Press, a recent US Court of Appeals ruling found that neutrality agreements like the one the business had with the UAW could be illegal if the company provided "things of value" to the union. The newspaper also claims that VW held a mandatory employee meeting concerning the election, but workers were free to leave during the UAW's presentation.
