I'm selling this vehicle for a friend. I have been told this car would be a great vehicle to sell on Ebay.
I came from Europe and we always had diesels because of their reliability and fuel economy. /the fuel is very expensive overseas!/ Unfortunately it is very hard to find small diesel pick up trucks in the USA. Well here is one for sale! The truck served Him well but He recently purchased a tdi jetta, so this one needs to find a new home. About the car; - The previous owner was a 75 year old gentleman. He owned the truck for 20 years! The truck runs and drives great but if you are looking for a race horse this is not for you! The engine cranks easy. No smoke,no strange noises. The glow plugs work fine. The clutch feels good. The fuel injection pump was rebuilt at 165K miles! New battery with warranty. The past 10 years the following works have been done to the truck; -Timing belt and belt tension pulley 125 K - Right side engine mount -Camshaft oil seal -Crankshaft oil seal - Valve cover gasket kit -intermediate shaft oil seal with o-ring -driver side inner CV boot -clutch redone -rear brake shoes and wheel cylinder -Front rotors and brake pads -R & R parking brake cables -fuel filter - oil + oil filter 5 W40 Rotella synthetic -Set of tires -wipers -exhaust The 5 spd transmission shifts fine. The tires are almost new, they're about 85% ! The heater works fine. No AC, though, it didn't come with one. The body is solid. Small rust spots behind the seats. Drives straight, the brakes feel good. The lights, wipers work great. The horn does not work. No radio. The interior is clean but the seats need some seat covers. We drive it almost every day and it gets around 45-50 MPG !! The vehicle located in Fairhope, AL. Good luck and happy bidding! (More pics coming soon!) |

Porsche board members facing another ˆ1.8B lawsuit over VW takeover bid
Mon, 03 Feb 2014Back in 2008, Porsche got the bright idea that it could take over Volkswagen in the midst of the worst economic slump since the Great Depression. Ignoring that this was a catastrophic move for the Stuttgart sports car manufacturer that that eventually resulted in it nearly going bankrupt and eventually being taken over by the same company it sought to control, the aftermath has left Porsche Chairman Wolfgang Porsche and board member Ferdinand Piëch in the crosshairs of seven hedge funds that lost out during the takeover and are now seeking €1.8 billion - $2.43 billion US - in damages from the two execs, according to the BBC.
See, investors bet on Volkswagen's share price going down, partially because Porsche said it wasn't going to attempt a takeover. But Porsche was attempting to take over VW, having bought up nearly 75-percent of VW's publicly traded shares. When word broke that Porsche owned nearly three-quarters of VW (which indicated an imminent takeover attempt), rather than go down like the hedge funds bet it would, VW's share price skyrocketed to over 1,000 euros per share, according to Reuters.
Naturally, when you bet that a company's share price is going to drop and it in turn (temporarily) becomes the world's most valuable company, you lose a lot of money, unless you're able to buy up shares before prices jump too much. This led to a squeeze on the stock, which the hedge funds accuse Porsche and Piëch (who are both members of the Porsche family and supervisory board) of organizing.
VW announces recall of 26,000 2014 models with 1.8T engines
Tue, 22 Apr 2014Volkswagen has followed up on a stop-sale order from earlier this month, announcing a voluntarily recall of 26,400 vehicles that are powered by the brand's 1.8-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The new mill replaced the despised 2.5-liter five-cylinder in the Jetta, Passat, Beetle and Beetle Convertible last year. Weirdly, though, of the 26,452 units covered in the recall, only 1,655 are customer vehicles.
According to VW, the affected models were built between February 1 and April 6 of this year, and feature bad O-ring seals in the transmission oil cooler. Apparently, the faulty O-rings could cause a fluid leak, as they won't seal between the oil cooler and transmission. VW is blaming a material change from a supplier for the problem.
There have been no fires, injuries, accidents or fatalities relating to this issue, which VW will be fixing free of charge. Customers will need to report to dealers to have the O-rings replaced.
VW still set on Phaeton redux despite cost-cutting drive and losing $32k per car
Wed, Jan 28 2015While critically well regarded, the Volkswagen Phaeton has proven to be a vehicle largely unloved by luxury buyers around the world. Despite this, it refuses to die. While VW's luxury sedan hasn't been sold in the US since 2006 due to low sales here, it has soldiered on in Europe with occasional updates. As the model's long lifespan has been winding down, VW has decided to keep pushing the Phaeton into a new generation, despite in-house alternatives like the Audi A8 and Bentley Continental Flying Spur. The move might not make much business sense, but Volkswagen executives are determined to make the Phaeton work. According to market analysts speaking to Reuters, developing the next-gen luxury sedan on the MLB platform could cost as much as 650 million euros ($737 million), despite relying on the same underpinnings in the A8. It's not like the Phaeton is leading the luxury sedan sales ranks, either. Reuters notes VW produced just 5,812 of them in 2013 (the most current year with data), and from 2002 to 2012, the automaker reportedly lost 28,000 euros ($32,000) on each example sold. Conversely, Mercedes-Benz sold 103,737 units of its new S-Class in 2014, an astonishing 82.2 percent jump over the previous year. The decision to keep the Phaeton going doesn't seem to square with the VW brand's cost-cutting strategy. Boss Martin Winterkorn announced last year a plan to save 5 billion euros ($5.7 billion) annually in the coming years. That plan reportedly also includes killing off less profitable models. Apparently, VW can't just rip off the band-aid and get rid of the Phaeton. Even some VW bosses seem somewhat perplexed at the sedan's business case. When Reuters asked the company's US boss Michael Horn about selling the Phaeton here, he said. "That's a dangerous question. It's an image bearer with no relevance for volume." The next-gen Phaeton is scheduled to go on sale in Europe in 2017 or 2018, according to Reuters, which is about a year later than previous rumors. A US launch will reportedly follow in 2018 or 2019 with the plug-in hybrid and potentially even diesel versions on offer. A starting price around $70,000 is estimated.
