I initially had this truck listed as a project truck but I am re-listing because of a non payer and I totally mechanically rebuilt this truck. I did some more research and found out that this truck was parked do to a blow head gasket.I mentioned this before but what I did not know there was a rebuilt engine put in and was never put back on the road. The head gasket blew because of a clogged radiator and bad fan switch.Although I am tired of projects I decided to fix the problem.I took the head off and everything looked good. From what I can see someone did a rebuild on it because you can still see the hash marks on the cylinder walls where a bubble honer was used.Very clean inside.I do not know what extent was done to the engine but the pistons, valves, and cylinders all looked good. The head was checked and no cracks and is straight.Head was pressure tested and a valve job done.I pop tested the injectors and the spray pattern was excellent and they all popped at 130 bar as they should.Glow plugs were also checked.Injector pump totally rebuilt not just resealed.Viton seals used.New glow plug injectors and relay. So a new timing belt, water pump, radiator, fan switch, and belts were replaced.New clutch and engine and front transmission seals, master cylinder, brake booster, front and rear wheel bearings, front struts and rear shocks, alternator, front calipers pads, and rotors, rear wheel cylinders and shoes, tie rod ends were also replaced.I flushed the engine out so it is all clean inside. This engine runs excellent.Tires are excellent on Golf rims.A/C blows cold. I just charged it and it has been converted to 134.It appears to be good but time will tell since it has been sitting a while. So I am not sure of the system.Excellent pressures.Body in really nice condition for it age.It is not perfect but way above average for it age.I had this truck up on my lift and I did not see any damage on the underside showing frame repairs. It is straight. Front horns straight. This is a Texas truck so no rust except for what was mentioned earlier. Truck has been undercoated. There are two spots one by the camper top and the other by the windshield as seen in the pictures but no rust through I can see. There are a couple of dings on the roof.Strut towers are excellent. Bed is in good shape and has not been abused.Tailgate has a small dent but operates just fine.Dash has some cracks and the front glass has been replaced. Back glass is the VW factory sliding window.Hood needs to be adjusted since it looks like someone opened the hood to wide.I can be reached at 817-371-7706 between 9AM-9PM central time. The truck has the actual truck 4 speed which is excellent for a non turbo engine. It runs like a scared rabbit. Hardly any smoke out the exhaust. For those who require a 5 speed I will include it with all that is needed to convert it for an additional 150.00.A lot of work has been done to this truck. With a little body work and a dash cover you will have one nice truck.Baring any parts failure(I use OEM parts when available) this truck should last a long time.

Don't buy that crossover! Buy a cladded wagon instead!
Fri, Nov 10 2017If you're looking to buy a car soon, and you're like most Americans, there's a strong chance you're considering buying a crossover SUV. That's what people want nowadays. People like the tough, tall exterior that suggests adventure and preparedness, they like the high seating position, they like the all wheel drive many have and they like the practicality. Because of this, crossovers have rapidly supplanted typical cars such as sedans, wagons, and more as the most popular vehicles in the country. But they're compromised, too. They're often heavy, thirsty, and expensive compared with more conventional cars. The good news is, there's an alternative, a happy medium between the straight crossover and the traditional car. They're lifted wagons, and they're the best crossover SUVs around. And for those who may not know what we're talking about, we're talking about cars and wagons that have been given a suspension lift for more ground clearance and a higher ride height, and often have all wheel drive standard or optional. They also usually have chunky plastic body cladding to make them look tough and durable. Examples include the Subaru Crosstrek, Audi A4 Allroad, Buick Regal TourX, and Volkswagen Golf Alltrack, among others. Because of the suspension and body modifications, these vehicles fit the trendy crossover mold quite well. And in the case of long-running nameplates such as the Subaru Outback and Volvo Cross Country models, they even have some heritage as outdoorsy machines. They also provide the higher driving position that crossover buyers love. And in some cases, such as with the Golf Alltrack, we've learned they offer better ride quality than their road-oriented siblings. View 9 Photos So these tall wagons offer the key things crossover buyers want, but what makes them better than traditional crossovers is that they have the advantages of the cars they're based on. For instance, the aforementioned Golf Alltrack still drives mostly like a Golf, which is to say, it's nimble, feels peppy, and is easy to maneuver because of its relatively small size. We can't really say the same for the Tiguan, which feels generally more sluggish and uninteresting than the Alltrack. And we mention Volkswagen's compact crossover because it starts at nearly the same price as the Alltrack. Some of the difference in giddy-up can be explained by weight. Normal crossovers can be fairly portly, while these lifted wagons are notably lighter.

2013 Volkswagen Beetle Turbo Convertible
Wed, 10 Apr 2013Less Flower, More Power
Pardon our political incorrectness for a moment, but the Volkswagen New Beetle was, undeniably, a "chick car." There was almost nothing that the New Beetle offered to enthusiasts (of either gender), and by the end of its run, VW had even stripped all of the exciting engines from the car's lineup. Looking to resurrect some of the excitement behind the Beetle, the third generation of the iconic car ditched the cuteness when the coupe debuted for 2012, and now the 2013 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible aims to show how much fun drivers can have without a top.
Celebrating almost six and a half decades of the Beetle convertible, Volkswagen is offering a trio of distinct special editions that celebrate three of the car's most popular decades (the '50s, '60s and '70s), but as one of the unofficial cars of the 1960s, it would almost be a crime not to test this version, right? Besides, this is also the only special edition to get the turbocharged engine. While our first drive of the 2013 Beetle Convertible was in the fuel-miser TDI variation, our two-week romp in the 2013 Beetle Convertible '60s Edition came just as peak convertible weather was kicking off down in Florida.
