2006 VOLKSWAGEN PHAETON VW V8 LAST YEAR IMPORTED

Very nice luxury car best Volkswagen has ever made.  Same car as the Bentley Flying Star, same engine as the Audi 8.  This was the final year they imported them in the United States and the best year. Also the rarest year.  They imported just over 1900 Phaetons in 2004, 820 in 2005, and 235 in 2006.  Shocks now independent and still available; if you buy an 2004 if one shock goes out you must replace all four and modules and electric to the tune of $10,000.  That was changed in 2005 that expense is drastically reduced.   Beware of 2004 models for this reason.  Also this year has automatic door closing.  Beyond the factory fully loaded features this Phaeton also has parking assist, electronic trunk, Comfort/cold weather package, Technology package.

The W8 is very dependable and parts and repairs simple and inexpensive.  The mpg of the W8 is simply amazing on the highway I am getting around 24 for a car this heavy going 75mph.  Many love the sound of the W8 best.  Tested at 335 hp to go 0-60 in 6.2 seconds.  And this car has almost 5 years and a 74,000 warranty that transfers free to an individual who buys (but not a dealer).  The warranty is basic but better than no warranty.
The Warranty  is called Auto Advance Preffered (the most coverage) by American Colonial.  The local Lexus dealer where I bought the car sold it to me as part of the deal.  Very basic and limited but BETTER THAN NOTHING and free to the buyer.

Third owner last owner diamond store dealer in Oklahoma.  Clean no accident car fax and AutoCheck. Interior appears mint.  Paint appears garage kept and nice.  Batteries (it has two) one new last year second (and bigger) battery brand new .  OEM navigation.

$500 paypal deposit within 24 hours sale.  Cash or bank wire transfer within 3 days.  Can assist in shipping at buyer's cost.  Happy to pick you up at Oklahoma City airport.  NO CASHIERS CHECKS, NO MONEY ORDERS, NO CHECKS OF ANY KINDStill driven so mileage will vary.

Volkswagen adding R-Line trim to Touareg, Tiguan for 2014

Fri, 11 Jan 2013

Volkswagen introduced its aggressive R-Line appearance package on the CC and Beetle last year, but later this year, this treatment will also be applied to VW's crossovers, the Tiguan and Touareg. Both sporty-looking utility vehicles will be unveiled next week at the Detroit Auto Show.
The 2014 Tiguan R-Line comes standard with bi-xenon headlights and LED daytime running lights, and the package adds 19-inch wheels, grey fender extensions, body-color side skirts and a liftgate spoiler. Inside, the R-Line adds a flat-bottom sport steering wheel with paddle shifters, a black headliner and numerous metallic trim accents such as the stainless scuff plates, the aluminum pedals and metallic finish on the instrument and door panels. The Tiguan R-Line will be offered in front- and all-wheel drive configurations.
As for the 2014 Touareg R-Line (shown above), this model gets an ever more distinctive look with an aggressive front fascia, 20-inch wheels and dual oval-shaped exhaust outlets in addition to the painted side skirts and LED taillights. Similar metallic interior trim pieces found inside the Tiguan R-Line will also make their way into the Touareg as well as gloss black accents on the instrument panel and center stack.

VW bringing fuel cell concept to LA Auto Show

Mon, Nov 17 2014

Amid the flurry of hydrogen announcements from Toyota and Honda last night, Volkwagen has something to add: a new hydrogen fuel cell concept vehicle. This will be the first VW hydrogen fuel cell vehicle in many years – remember the Tiguan Hy-Motion back in 2008? – and it comes as a bit of a surprise. First written up by the German publication Wirtschaft Woche, VW is going to have the prototype car (not pictured) available at the ride and drive at the Los Angeles Auto Show later this week. We don't yet know what kind of vehicle will sport the hydrogen powertrain, but our money's on a Golf variant. We'll see soon enough when we get to Los Angeles. What's interesting is that there have been a number of not-so-mixed messages out of the VW executive ranks when it comes to hydrogen vehicles. VW's Japanese president, Shigeru Shoji, said in September that, hydrogen fuel cells, "may fly within Japan, but not globally." Last year, VW's electrification head Rudolf Krebs said that "hydrogen mobility only makes sense if you use green energy." Also last year, VW CEO Martin Winterkorn said it's basically impossible to build hydrogen vehicles at a "reasonable cost." Nonetheless, we're going to see a new VW H2 concept soon. Thoughts?

Import pickup truck-killing Chicken Tax to be repealed?

Tue, Jun 30 2015

After over 50 years, the so-called Chicken Tax may finally be going the way of the dodo. Two pending trade deals with countries in the Pacific Rim and Europe potentially could open the US auto market up to imported trucks, if the measures pass. Although, it still might be a while before you can own that Volkswagen Amarok or Toyota Hilux, if ever. The 25-percent import tariff that the Chicken Tax imposes on foreign trucks essentially makes the things all but impossible to sell one profitably in the US, which lends a distinct advantage to domestic pickups. Both the Trans-Pacific Partnership with 12 counties and Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership with the European Union would finally end the charge. According to Automotive News though, don't expect new pickups to flood the market, at least not immediately. These deals might roll back the tariff gradually over time, and in the case of Japan, it could be as long as 25 years before fully free trade. Furthermore, Thailand, a major truck builder in Asia, isn't currently part of the deal, and any new models here would still need to meet safety and emissions rules, as well. Automotive News gauged the very early intentions of several automakers with foreign-built trucks, and they weren't necessarily champing at the bit to start imports. Toyota thinks the Hilux sits between the Tundra and Tacoma, and Mazda doesn't think the BT-50 fits its image here. Also, VW doesn't necessarily want to bring the Amarok over from Hannover. There is previous precedent for companies at least considering bringing in pickup trucks after the Chicken Tax's demise, though. The Pacific free trade deal could be done as soon as this fall, while the EU one is likely further out, according to Automotive News. Given enough time, the more accessible ports could allow some new trucks to enter the market.
