This is a 2004 Volkswagen Passat TDI with the fuel sipping 2.0 TDI. This car runs and drives great even with over 200k on the clock. It gets 35+ mpg mixed driving with no issues. It has power windows, locks, and sunroof. Auto transmission with the tip-tronic option. All functions including radio, all windows, HVAC controls and sunroof operate properly. The car has just been serviced with several new parts including new timing belt, water pump and all tensioners, new engine mounts and trans mounts, new turbo intake hose, both front axles, new fuel filter, valve cover gasket, new brake pads front and rear and new tires. I just replaced the hood shock also along with a fresh synthetic oil change. The transmission has also just been serviced with a new front pump and torque converter. The body is also in good condition, there is a decent size dent in the left rear door which you can see in the pictures along with a few small dents in that door and on the left rear quarter panel. The front bumper has some chips from the highway miles but the rest of the body is in good condition. The A/C blows cold and the heat works great as well. VW recalling 2.64M vehicles worldwide over engine, light issues

Volkswagen is staging a massive, worldwide recall that's already grown from 1.68 million to 2.64 million vehicles and covers three different issues across a number of vehicles. We already reported on 61,000 Tiguans getting recalled over lighting issues - that was just in the US. Globally, however, VW will be recalling 800,000 Tiguans, according to Automotive News, with the focus on CUVs built between 2008 and 2011. The issue with the Tiguan relates to a simple fuse swap, so this is rather unremarkable, aside from the sheer number of vehicles being fixed. The real, troubling issues relate to gearboxes and pickups.
239,000 Amarok pickups (pictured right) are being recalled over fuel leaks, while 1.6 million vehicles are being recalled to swap the synthetic oil in dual-clutch transmissions with mineral oil. Now, the transmission issue is one for the global Volkswagen Group to address, not just the VW brand - vehicles from Audi, Škoda and Seat use the same seven-speed DSG and are covered under the recall, as well.
Why the switch from synthetic to mineral oil? Apparently, using the synthetic oil in a DSG and then subjecting it to stop-and-go conditions or heavy loads in a hot and humid climate can lead to electronic malfunctions, according to a Volkswagen press release. The switch, from the sounds of it, is largely a preventative measure.

2015 VW Golf R caught getting a flogging on 'Ring

The upcoming version of the Volkswagen Golf R is nearly ready for prime time, if this video of the car flying around the Nürburgring is any indication. The all-wheel-drive R seems to make quick, neat work of the corners we see here, and sounds pretty devilish in the process.
Expectations are that the new Golf R will run a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder (what else?), tuned to produce even more than the current car's 256 horsepower. (Some sources have indicated outputs as high as 286 horsepower, with 280 pound-feet of torque. It's still not clear if Volkswagen will bring the six-speed dual-clutch transmission to the US-spec Golf R in this next go-round or if we'll stick to having only... eh... the stick.
In either case - watching the video below will only whet your appetite for the new, highest performing member of the Golf family.
