2007 Volkswagen Passat 3.6 Wagon 4-door 3.6l Awd on 2040-cars
Cadillac, Michigan, United States
This most likely will be the quickest, nicest driving All-Wheel Drive wagon you will ever drive. Highway mileage is about 28 mpg and around town approximately 20 mpg. We bought it used in September of 2012 with 75,000 miles on it. This is the upgraded 4Motion with the 3.6L motor and has a variety of nice options. Sunroof, leather, ps, pw, cruise, automatic transmission with manual overide, heated power seats (driver and passenger) drivers seat has memory recall, automatic headlights, automatic dimming rearview mirror, power lumbar, rain sensing windsheild wipers, and Weathertech floor mats. l It also has a brand new spare tire. This car is virtually perfect inside and out. There are some scratches on the back bumper by the liftgate but other than those there aren't any exterior scratches or blemishes. I would estimate the tire life to be approximately 25 - 30% worn. We had an issue with the motor this fall (through no fault of us) and needed to replace the motor. We replaced it with a motor that has 75,000 miles on it and car works great after replacement. Initially I brought the car to a VW dealer and without tearing the motor down, they could not figure out why the motor lost oil pressure. This motor takes a special synthetic oil that only Castrol makes and my guess is that the previous owners may not have known this.

Europeans get first crack at new Golf Variant wagon
Mon, 04 Mar 2013Just last week, when we brought you news of a new Volkswagen Golf variant out and testing in Europe, we had no idea we were being so literal with out description. For it seems that VW has every intention of calling its new Golf wagon, making its Geneva debut, the "Golf Variant."
Odd/interesting sobriquets taken as read then, there's a lot to like about this new small wagon from VW. The Variant will shed some 232 pounds in this generation, and will come to market with two efficient TDI engines. Volkswagen isn't giving us displacement figures for either yet, but we're told the diesels will come with outputs of 110 and 150 horsepower. The 110-hp TDI BlueMotion Varient will be good for a whopping 71.3 miles per gallon on the European cycle, when mated to the six-speed manual transmission.
The German automaker has brought along an all-wheel-drive 4Motion version of the Gold Variant to bow in Geneva, as well, and a natural gas-burning TGI BlueMotion is said to be "in the pipeline."
Volkswagen NMC production guise caught in China
Tue, 29 Apr 2014Chinese car site Autohome has what are said to be the first pictures of the Volkswagen New Midsize Coupe concept in production form. VW's NMC was just introduced at the Beijing Motor Show, while background chatter indicated it would go on sale in China, Autohome says that production version will be built at the Shanghai-Volkswagen plant in Ningbo, and the retail guise could be introduced at the Guangzhou Motor Show in November and go on sale that same month.
Assuming this is the production car, its main lines have made the jump from the concept but with less fine detailing, a silver hue and with conventional VW wheels it's lost a little bit of oomph. Still, a few checkmarks on the option sheet can fix most of that, the shape remains handsome and the 2.0-liter turbo underhood keeps performance peppy and mileage frugal enough. You can head to Autohome for a couple more photos of a sedan we'd be happy to make room for over here.
VW Up Buggy may be headed to showrooms
Tue, 02 Jul 2013Volkswagen showed six conceptual takes on its Up at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, one of those being the Up Buggy. Although few will probably remember it, VW has not forgotten it, applying for a patent for the Meyers Manx revival roadster way back in March 2012 and being approved in June of this year, according to a report in Autocar. That will give the automaker a 14-year lock on the design while it decides whether to move forward with a reboot of its past.
A patent doesn't mean the Up Buggy will ever move beyond the sheet-of-paper stage, but Autocar says VW is studying the market to see if a production version is feasible. We can't see North America ever getting it, but even so, we wouldn't complain if they made it - especially if they put an exposed engine in back that was set off by 18-inch-long twin tailpipes jutting straight up into the air. However, for a company that aims to be the world's number-one automaker by 2018, a niche vehicle for its mass-market brand would be a surprising use of resources.
