Pictured is our one owner 2006 Volkswagen Passat 2.0T. This Passat sports a 6 speed automatic transmission which shifts flawlessly as well as a gas sipping 2.0 turbo charged engine which will throw you back into your seat. This car has 132K miles and has been impeccably maintained and we have all of the maintenance records since the car was purchased to prove it. This car was dealership maintained for the first 5 years and then maintained by the Magic Mechanic on Lee Road in Orlando. This car has been regularly serviced by the Magic Mechanic using Amsoil synthetic oil products both in the engine and transmission, as well as Amsoil Antifreeze service. The Air Conditioning system will freeze you out and, in addition, has been serviced with ICE 32 to enhance cooling and longivity of the a-c system. The timing belt was changed last year, and all four of the struts, as well as the front and rear brakes were changed earlier this year. The 215/60 R 16 tires are almost new, and have less than 4K miles on them. To say this car is in excellent condition is an understatement. The gray leatherette interior is virtually flawless, as is the dark blue metallic exterior. The sun roof works perfectly, as does the AM/FM satellite radio with an integral 6 disc CD changer.
If you are looking for a "new" car without the the new car price, then you have found it here. A review of the 2006 PAssat 2.0T is listed below. By the way, this car has been garage kept since we bought it. Any questions simply ask!!!
On the Road: Turbo engine is beyond impressive
To describe the 2006 Passat's 2-liter turbocharged engine as impressive is an understatement. Rated at 200 hp plus 207 lb./ft. of torque at 1800 rpm, it hits 60 mph in 6.9 seconds with the 6-speed manual, 7.4 seconds with the 6-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission. Power delivery was instantaneous in the automatic version we drove; it even had a pleasant sound unlike most 4-cylinder engines.
The fully-independent suspension (McPherson concept up front, multi-link in rear) provided safe, secure cornering but we noted that road rumble was very audible on poor surfaces. A VW engineer who joined us at dinner explained that the inevitable compromise between ride and roadholding was prejudiced towards the latter in order to maintain a German driving tradition. I wouldn't dispute his choice but some noise-sensitive North Americans may.
Visibility is excellent, the steering wheel adjusts for height and reach, instrumentation is easily read excepting some digital figures. Passats always featured responsive steering and the new model, even with an electrically-assisted system, is no exception. That, plus 4-wheel ABS disc brakes with brake assist and standard electronic stabilisation system, combined to make this mid-size sedan a truly fun car to drive.
Journey's End: Passat's at the top of Phil's list
2006 Volkswagen Passat 2.0T: Looks good, drives great, what's not to like?
With a high-tech, full-featured car like the Passat, it isn't possible to list all its attributes, which is why we give you general impressions. And what impressed me, aside from the driving dynamics, were attributes like the roomy rear seat; ease of access; deep pass-through trunk; 8 airbags; crash-active headrests; tire-pressure monitoring; center armrest with cooling storage; leatherette seating areas that feel like real leather: all things most meaningful to the average driver.
An extensive option list offers Danish-built Dynaudio sound; 10-way power driver's seats (happy now, Trevor?), parking distance warning front and rear (only with the 3.6 liter V-6 engine), rain-sensing wipers, headlights that turn with the curves, and on and on.
Getting back to those general impressions I would have to say that I truly enjoyed driving the new Passat. It looks good from the outside, continues the VW reputation for superior dashboard design and the nav system is superb.

If VW defaults on loans it may sell Bentley or Lamborghini
Mon, Dec 7 2015If something goes catastrophically wrong with Volkswagen Group's recent $21 billion loan, brands like Bentley or Lamborghini could hit the auction block. According to two insiders to Reuters, the beleaguered German automaker agrees with its creditors to sell assets if the company somehow can't pay back the debt in a year. One of these anonymous people claimed the company hasn't yet deliberated over what to sell. However, the sources were willing to speculate that the power engineering portion of Man could be among the first to go. "Volkswagen may also consider divesting luxury car brands Bentley and Lamborghini or motor bike brand Ducati, although these units don't really move the needle," an insider said to Reuters. VW Group negotiated with the banks earlier this week to get the massive loan. The cash is necessary as a buffer in case the automaker doesn't have enough money on hand to repair vehicles or settle upcoming fines. VW would reportedly issue bonds in the spring to begin paying the debt. The company's bills will start racking up quickly in the new year. German authorities mandate a recall there in early 2016, and repair campaigns in the US for the 2.0- and 3.0-liter diesel engines are inevitable. There are also hundreds of class-action lawsuits to settle. The company needs to resolve its CO2 emissions scandal in Europe, too. In response to these financial threats, VW management created a cost-cutting plan to slash the research and development budget by $1.1 billion next year.
VW to relax ambitious US sales targets?
Fri, 16 May 2014The Volkswagen brand sold 407,704 cars last year, a 6.95-percent decline compared to 2012, and it's down a further 8.36 percent through the end of April 2014 compared to this time last year. In order to to put the sales football between its Strategy 2018 goal posts, the brand would need to add 100,000 more sales every year to achieve the lofty 800,000-unit target. Coming to grips with how unreasonable that is, VW US CEO Michael Horn has said, "For now, we have to have realistic targets."
The reasons for the brand's slow-down are imprecise, but lots of folks are throwing lots of reasons around. Last November, VW Group Chairman Ferdinand Piech told Bloomberg, "We understand Europe, we understand China and we understand Brazil, [but] we only understand the US to a certain degree so far." Analysts say the brand hasn't had midsize and compact SUV offerings, especially an overdue retail version of the CrossBlue, and the ones it does have are priced too high for their segments. It "didn't introduce enough new engines, or alternative technologies or model variants" for the Passat and Jetta. It devoted so many resources to China that the US market suffered. It was being outspent two-to-one on advertising by competitors. Its J.D. Power dependability ratings aren't high enough to overcome its past. It "has never really taken the US customer seriously." And so on.
There's still no official admission of defeat concerning the target, but reading between the lines there are some VW execs that appear to accept it won't happen short of some deus ex machina. Still,
VW pulls Lamborghini and Bentley from the Paris Motor Show
Tue, Sep 20 2016It's been slightly more than a year since the news that Volkswagen had intentionally cheated on diesel emissions testing broke. Since then, the company's reputation and image have suffered and it has struggled to regain its footing and composure. The automaker is shelling out billions in fines, so cost cutting is inevitable. Today, Reuters reports that Volkswagen subsidiaries Lamborghini and Bentley won't bring their elaborate displays to the Paris Motor Show next week. Auto shows can cost automakers millions of dollars, especially for supercar and luxury car brands that constantly try to compete and one-up with each other. Much of the money and fanfare goes to catering the media, and if an automaker has nothing new to reveal it can be difficult to justify the expense. The company told Reuters that it plans to attend smaller events that focus more on potential buyers. The Volkswagen group as a whole has shifted it's focus, both when it comes to products and auto shows like Paris. Next week, the automaker will be focusing on electric vehicles and electromobility. The company plans to reveal a new EV with 373 miles of range, eclipsing both the Tesla Model 3 and Chevy Bolt. Volkswagen has plans for 30 new electric vehicles by 2025. Lamborghini and Bentley aren't the only major automakers skipping Paris. Ford, Volvo, and Aston Martin have all decided to save money and focus their efforts elsewhere. Related Video:
