Karmann Ghia Convertible on 2040-cars
Oakhurst, Oklahoma, United States
This beauty was purchased by my late wife as her dream car about 5 years ago. She has since passed on year ago. I feel it's time to let someone enjoy this car the same way she did.
I has been about 90% restored, with a couple of small issues, but is road ready with current tags. I hate to sell it but mounting bills have forced my hand. I have the owners manual and what seems to be every receipt of the restoration by the previous owner and lots of diagrams of the body assembly, wiring harness, carb & linkage, even the owners manual to the stereo. ok about the car Nice burgundy & white interior, no tears, with tan carpeting (including luggage compartment) Nice burgundy canvas top. no tears Chrome wheels & chrome "factory style" spare all with good tires. Speedometer works, fuel gauge bounces so just needs a sending unit, Clock is there but does not work Dual Weber 44's with aluminum & hex bar linkage and aluminum breather housing. New mechanical fuel pump. Most importantly a Spare Belt. lol the down side :( It has been setting for almost 2 years (I drained the fuel and refilled it) so it could use a tune up. The blinkers have stopped working. (they worked when I parked it so probably not a big deal) There are a couple of chipped paint spots and a little body work to be repaired. Overall a very nice ride just needs an air cooled lover to give a little TLC. |

Auto execs surveyed say VW, BMW most likely to grow
Thu, 17 Jan 2013A new survey of top global automotive executives indicates both Volkswagen and BMW are the most likely to grow their market share over the next five years.
Tax advisory firm KPMG LLP has released its 14th annual Global Automotive Executive Survey, which includes responses from over 200 executives. A total of 81 percent of respondents said they expect to see Volkswagen make gains, compared to 70 percent last year. BMW, meanwhile, saw 70 percent of those surveyed say they believe the company will increase its market share. That's a jump of 7 percentage points over last year. This is the first time in the history of the survey that BMW has claimed the second-place spot.
Meanwhile, Hyundai has seen its perceived market share potential slacken for the third year in a row. Around 61 percent of those surveyed predicted gains for Hyundai, down from 63 in 2012. Toyota also has a surprising year, but for just the opposite reason. While the manufacturer had slipped in ranking since 2011, it enjoyed the largest increase of any company in the 2013 survey, jumping to 68 percent from 44 percent last year.
1000-hp Mk1 VW Golf is terrifyingly cool
Tue, 04 Jun 2013There are plenty of things to love about the Mk1 Volkswgen Golf. The machine's horsepower isn't one of them. From the factory, the little hatch cranked a breathy 112 horsepower from the most robust form of its 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine. Boba motoring, however, has taken that figure and multiplied it by a factor of nearly 10. If 1,000 horsepower sounds terrifying in a machine with a wheelbase of just 94.5 inches, it should. A massive Garrett GTX4202R turbo force-feeds the little mill through a tweaked 16-valve KR head. The crew calls the beast the 16Vampir, and we think that's fitting.
Of course, we'd wager you quit reading right about the time you set your eyes on that headline. Those of you who've stuck around this long can point yourselves below to see the maniacal creation in action. You won't be disappointed.
