This car was owned by a very good friend of ours that recently passed away suddenly. We are selling it for his wife since she is liquidating many assets in order to pay her home off.

I will try and find out any further info you need on it but will give you the basics that I am aware of.

It is a 1974 Karmann Ghia-I believe the color may be original. It is actually in very decent condition and as far as I can see looking it over, there is very minimal rusting. The floor boards are pretty firm. It does start and run, but carborator needs to repairing to run proper. The mileage of 63,388 I believe to be accurate but have no way of knowing since owner has passed. I know there is suppose to be something about this car that is rare but again have no information on it since owner has passed.

Our friend bought this to restore as he has several other cars he had already completed. The title is in hand and all the parts appear to be present.

You are responsible for shipping or towing and the sale is final and "as is". We do have it listed locally as well and may end the auction early if a sale is made. If you win the bid or auction, deposit is non refundable since we will have local ads and buyers we will not sell to if we believe we have a buyer off Ebay.

Car is located just outside of Knoxville in Maryille Tennessee. Please ask any questions you have and I will try to answer them as best I can.

On Feb-12-13 at 11:54:19 PST, seller added the following information:

I have had messages asking these questions so will answer them on here in case anyone else was wondering. The car does not appear to ever have been in a wreck and looks all original. The motor will start and run with new battery but it cannot be driven home since we cant promise you it runs good. The tired are not inflated but rims are original and look fine.

I can make no guarantee about anything on this car since owner has passed away and his wife simply does not know much about it. It is solid, looks to be in very very decent condition. If you want to come look at the car prior to bidding, you are more than welcome to do so and bring any mechanic you would like but car will have to be towed. It does not seem like it would take to much to get it running. When he 1st purchased it, we have seen it driven on the property and down to the store so we know motor does run but that was a year or so ago and he was never able to start work on it before he passed away.

It is however, a super vintage car and from what I have read, it is well sought after in this condition. As you can see from the buy it now price, she isn't asking for an unreasonable price. She believes her husband paid close to asking price for it himself and the price is simply trying to get that back as well as advertising fees etc. If local buyer makes the purchase prior to auction ending or buy it now is not used 1st, the ad will be removed.

We thank you very much for looking.Feel free to ask any questions. We will do our best to get you the accurate answer.

Volkswagen Golf Wagon leaked ahead of official unveiling

Sat, 02 Mar 2013

Wagons ho! These three images of the upcoming Volkswagen Golf Wagon have leaked online ahead of the car's official debut, which may very well be at the Geneva Motor Show. Looking over the photos doesn't really bring any surprises - after all, this is a VW Golf with a wagon rear end grafted on, or basically what we expect next Jetta SportWagen will be.
We can only share these three images at this time, but fret not, folks. There's little doubt that all the details and images will be flowing from Volkswagen in short order. In the meantime, click on the images above to view them in high resolution.

Volkswagen CrossBlue previews a three-row future, diesel-hybrid power [w/video]

Mon, 14 Jan 2013

Volkswagen looks to be getting ready to jump into the large three-row crossover game. The automaker has officially pulled back the curtain on the CrossBlue Concept at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show.
Designers and engineers penned the machine specifically for the Canadian and US markets, and with a plug-in diesel electric hybrid drivetrain, the hulking five-door, at least in concept form, should offer substantially better efficiency than anything else on the market. The drivetrain pairs a 2.0-liter turbo diesel four-cylinder engine with two electric motors for a combined output of 305 horsepower and a ludicrous 516 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed dual-clutch gearbox handles shifting detail, while one electric motor spins the front wheels. The second motor spins the back axle independently, make the CrossBlue a through-the-road hybrid.
As a result, the crossover can pop to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds. Perhaps more impressively, the CrossBlue can whir around on all-electric propulsion for up to 14 miles at up to 75 mph. Once the diesel four kicks in, the drivetrain can yield up to 39 mpg, though Volkswagen says the hardware can hit 89 MPGe on a full charge thanks to a 9.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Volkswagen officially grants access to UAW in Tennessee

Tue, Dec 9 2014

An audit at the Volkswagen factory in Chattanooga, TN has revealed that at least 45 percent of the facility's workers support unionization, leading the German company to grant access rights to the United Auto Workers. This is a tremendous step in the UAW's long-running and at times contentious pursuit of the workforce at Chattanooga. With this latest move, "local leadership is ready to move forward with additional conversations with the company," the union said in a statement obtained by The Detroit News. "As a starting point, UAW Local 42 will take advantage of the company's offer to establish bi-weekly meetings with Volkswagen Human Resources and the Volkswagen Chattanooga Executive Committee." The News reports that UAW Secretary-Treasurer Gary Casteel, shown above speaking at the Chattanooga plant last summer, claimed these meetings "will remind Human Resources and the Chattanooga Executive Committee of the mutually agreed-upon commitments that were made by Volkswagen and the UAW last spring in Germany. Among those commitments: Volkswagen will recognize the UAW as the representative of our members. We believe Volkswagen made this commitment in good faith and we believe the company will honor this commitment." It's important to note that despite Casteel's remarks, this is not a collective-bargaining agreement, Harley Shaiken, a labor professor at University of California, Berkeley, told The News. "But it is a step in the direction of recognition, which ultimately could lead to collective bargaining. This is not the end point," Shaiken said. "We don't know what's next. We're in unchartered territory."
