Tdi Diesel, Metallic Blue, Like New Black Leatherette Interior, 50+ Mpg Manual on 2040-cars
Centreville, Maryland, United States
You are bidding on a 2010 VW Jetta TDI w/ 6 speed manual transmission. I am the only owner of this car which was purchased 6/23/2010. Every service has been done by a VW Master Technician including the timing belt which I did at 130K (the timing belt is made of Kevlar and lasts a lot longer than the 100K interval VW recommends). If you are reading this you are probably familiar with the VW TDI cars and know that 163K highway miles is equivalent to about 40K city miles on a diesel. These diesels would rather run all day on the highway than sit still. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this car and will run great for many more years and easily another 200K+ highway miles as long as you change the oil with the proper oil type and change the fuel filter every 10K. I had this car Maryland inspected in June in order to buy out the lease and it passed easily once I put new tires on it. I just took a rock to the windshield and I have a brand new windshield getting installed in a few days. I bought out the lease planning on keeping it for a lot longer but I fell in love with the new VW Golf TDI last week and bought one so now I am selling my baby. The interior is almost like a brand new car. Aside from minor wear on the steering wheel and shift knob you can barely tell it was used. I spend a lot of time in this car for work and I always kept it clean and treated it well. This car has a touch screen stereo with a 6-disc CD changer, AUX input to play your music through your phone or IPOD, and satellite radio. The stereos in these cars are notorious for going bad after about 4 years and this one was just replaced about 2 months ago. The seats are black leatherette and have always been conditioned 4 times per year. The drivers seat has power recline. I have the carpeted mats as well as the VW all weather rubber mats. I also have the trunk Cargoliner with the storage blocks to keep your items in place in the truck. I will also throw in the VW roof rack I have for this car ($300 new). The exterior of the car is in good shape. The front end has a typical amount of rock chips for the mileage. The car was grazed in a parking lot on the left rear which left some very minor scrapes on the wheel well and a few dings on the rear door frame (see pic). The passenger side was also grazed in a parking lot which left a small dent on the door and minor scrapes around the wheel well (see pic). The rear bumper has some minor damage where a police officer's foot slipped off of the brake pedal behind me at a stop sign. He bumped the back at about 2 miles per hour and left a few ripples mostly on the plastic bump strip (see pic). There are a few other scratches on the car as you would expect with a used car. The car has been garaged kept since new and I wax my cars 4 times per year. There is no oxidation and the paint is still very shiny. You can bid with confidence that this car will be very reliable for a long time. It also has a great safety rating and very reasonable insurance rates. I have this car advertised locally and I reserve the right to cancel the auction early. Please contact me if you have any questions. brentrbaer@gmail.com |

The best cars we drove this year
Tue, Dec 30 2014Six hundred and fifty. That's roughly how many cars pass through the hands of Autoblog editors every year, from the vehicles we test here at home, to the cars we drive on new product launches, testing roundups, long-term cars, and so on. Of course, our individual numbers vary due to several reasons, but at the end of the day, our team's repertoire of automotive experience is indeed vast. But let's be honest, some cars certainly stand out more than others. So as the year's about to turn, and as we're readying brand-new daily cat calendars for our cubicles, our editors are all taking time to reflect on the machinery that made this year so special, with one simple, open-ended question as the guide – a question that we're asked quite frequently, from friends, family, colleagues, and more. "What's the best car you drove this year?" Lamborghini Huracan When I review the list of everything I drove in 2014, picking an absolute favorite becomes almost impossible. I mean, how does one delineate between the joy offered by cars as different as the Alfa Romeo 4C, Volkswagen Golf R, Mercedes-AMG GT S and even the humble-yet-wonderful Chevy Colorado? Okay fine, I'll just pick the Lamborghini. I drove the Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4 on a racetrack, in the mountains, and along southern coast of Spain. It felt like the king of the car jungle in all of those places, sucking the eyeballs of observers nearly out of their heads as it drove by, and almost melting my brain with its cocktail of speed and grip and intense communication. It feels a little easy to say that the one new supercar I drove this year was also my favorite, but the fact is that the Huracan is one of the finest cars I've driven during my career, let alone 2014. Judge me if you must. – Seyth Miersma Senior Editor Rolls-Royce Wraith There are a couple of ways to look at the question, "What's the best car you drove this year?" In terms of what was so good I'd go out and buy one tomorrow, that'd be my all-time sweetheart, the Volkswagen GTI. Or if I'm just talking about sheer cool-factor, maybe something like the Galpin GTR1, BMW i8, or Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG. But instead, I'm going to write about the sheer opulence of being the best of the best. The hand-crafted, holier-than-thou, shut-your-mouth-when-I'm-talking-to-you supremacy. I'm picking the Rolls-Royce Wraith. I drove the Wraith for a week in April, and was really, really impressed. This car does everything, perfectly.
Volkswagen Group, BMW Z4 top Total Value Awards by Strategic Vision
Tue, 11 Dec 2012It was just nine months ago that Strategic Vision announced its 2011 Total Value Awards, but you don't have to wait until next year for the 2012 awards. The Volkswagen Group keeps its lead as the number one brand, with seven products taking top category spots: Golf, Jetta Wagon, CC, Eos and Audi A3 Wagon, Q5 and Q7. Strategic Vision says "true innovation" - "rich and impactful, intuitive, motivational, in-depth and is able to trigger description by the user in great specificity" - is the open secret of the brands with the strongest showings. Results are culled from 77,153 owners covering more than 350 new cars bought between September of 2011 and 2012 ranked in the Total Value Index (TVI).
Other notable winners are Hyundai-Kia following VW in the brand category and having the Hyundai Elantra and Kia Sorento among category winners, the BMW Z4 taking the premium roadster category and the highest overall score of any vehicle, the Chevrolet Volt continuing to gather silverware in the Special Category, nabbing the second-highest score of all and representative of "nearly perfect innovation," and Chrysler and Dodge being most improved.

VW offers to buy back new diesels if bans introduced
Thu, Mar 29 2018By Maria Sheahan FRANKFURT, Germany — Volkswagen will buy back new diesel cars if German cities ban them, it said on Thursday, seeking to reassure potential buyers and stem a plunge in sales of diesel vehicles. Europe's biggest automaker also said it would extend incentives for buyers of new diesel cars. The moves come after a German court ruled last month that cities in the country could ban the most polluting diesel vehicles from their streets. Many German cities exceed European Union limits on atmospheric nitrogen oxide, known to cause respiratory diseases. Fears of bans have led to a plunge in demand for diesel vehicles, which are also key to carmakers' attempts to meet new EU rules on carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. While diesel cars are heavily criticized for emitting nitrogen oxide, they spew out less CO2 than gasoline equivalents. Diesel car sales plunged 19 percent in Germany last month. At its core VW brand, Volkswagen said its buyback offer applied to new diesels bought between April 1 and the end of 2018 and would kick in if the city in which the buyer lived or worked banned diesels within three years of the purchase. It said its dealerships would buy back diesel vehicles affected by bans at their current value if their owners at the same time bought a new vehicle that was not affected by cities' driving restrictions. At Czech brand Skoda, the guarantee applies to cars bought between April 1 and the end of June, but will cover bans introduced within four years of the purchase date. At premium brand Audi, the offer only covers leased vehicles. Volkswagen also said it was extending to the end of June incentives for customers trading in older diesels for new ones. Fellow German carmaker BMW said earlier this month it would offer to take back leased vehicles if diesels were banned within 100 kilometers (62 miles) of the operator's home or place of work. There has been a global backlash against diesel-engine cars since Volkswagen admitted in 2015 to cheating U.S. exhaust tests. But Germany's government is seeking to avoid widespread bans on heavily polluting diesel vehicles, which companies say could cut the resale value of up to 15 million vehicles in Europe's biggest car market. In Germany, where motorists expect to drive powerful cars on motorways with no speed limits, any restrictions will be unpopular.
