For sale is a one owner 2006 Volkswagen Jetta TDI that is very clean. It runs and drives 100%, has a clean Autocheck, is very fuel efficient and is being sold with no reserve. The 1.9L four cylinder turbo diesel purrs along without a miss, has no fluid loss and has plenty of power. No "check engine" or any warning lights. The 5 speed manual transmission shifts smoothly with plenty of clutch. The brakes, suspension and steering are in great condition. No exhaust leaks. The exterior is a glossy metallic gray. It is very clean with no major dents or dings. One would have to look hard to find any imperfections. No body rust. The lights and lenses are bright with no cracks. No windshield chips or cracks. The tires, on factory alloy wheels, have about 25% tread (see pic). The exterior is in very good condition and should be considered above average considering the miles. The interior is gray carpet and seats. The seats are Volkswagen leatherette. The front seats are heated. There are no wear areas, stains, holes or problems of any kind on the seats or carpet. They look new. There is a factory sound system with CD. The heat is hot and the AC is cold. ALL the power options such as sunroof, cruise control, side mirrors, driver seat, windows, etc. work as designed. The interior is above average clean and comfortable. This 2006 Jetta TDI runs and drives like new. There are absolutely no mechanical issues and no indication of any impending problems. We would expect many more miles and years of reliable service. The new owner will be able to drive home, with confidence, no matter where they live. Next Volkswagen Golf R to get 286 horsepower?
Tue, 12 Feb 2013The seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf hasn't launched in the United States just yet, but we're already setting our sights on the range-topping R model. According to Autocar, the next Golf R will be more powerful than the current version, producing 268 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, making it the most powerful production Golf ever.
Powering the new Golf R will be a further evolution of Volkswagen's well-liked 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four, and when mated to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission, the hotter hatch will reportedly be able to sprint to 62 miles per hour in five seconds flat. That's over half a second quicker than the current US-spec model.
Other updates for the new Golf R include the addition of VW's Haldex 5 all-wheel-drive system found in the latest iteration of 4Motion. Furthermore, thanks to the use of lightweight materials, the new R is expected to weigh in around 2,650 pounds - that's a massive 675 pounds less than the current US-spec car. The exhaust has reportedly been reworked to provide more aural delight, as well.

Thu, 11 Sep 2014Racing driver and Top Gear USA host Tanner Foust is a very busy guy. After all, he's competing in rounds of both Global Rallycross series and FIA World Rallycross Championship, not to mention his TV duties. However, we probably shouldn't feel too sorry for him, because his job puts him behind the wheel of some truly crazy machinery.
Case in point is his latest ride in Global Rallycross - the Volkswagen Beetle GRC. The German company claims that this all-wheel drive Bug makes around 540 horsepower from its 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and can shoot to 60 in under 2 seconds. Plus, if this video is any indication, this Volkswagen sounds like a machine gun when throwing revs at idle, and it can do some wonderfully easy four-wheel drifts.
Previously, Foust was driving a VW Polo for Andretti Autosport in GRC, but the team unveiled the look of the Beetle GRC at the Chicago Auto Show. Now, Foust is finally getting to show off his new office to the public, and like VW's tagline for the new car claims, it's way hotter than Herbie.
UAW tactics called into question at VW's TN plant
Thu, 26 Sep 2013The United Auto Workers is in hot water with some of the very workers it is trying to unionize at Volkswagen's Chattanooga assembly plant. According to The Tennessean, eight Volkswagen factory workers have filed complaints against the UAW with the National Labor Relations Board, claiming the union "misled or coerced" them into formally asking for union representation.
The UAW has instituted a major push at the Chattanooga plant to represent the 2,500 hourly laborers that build the VW Passat by using what's called a card-check process. The tactic is opposed by the National Right to Work Legal Defense foundation, the group representing the workers. The card-check process demands that a company recognize a union that obtains the signatures of more than half its workforce, according to The Tennessean. This tactic is in contrast to the more traditional route, which sees employees vote on union representation.
The workers filing the complaint claim that the UAW told them the cards merely called for a secret ballot, rather than an outright demand for union representation. Workers also allege that the UAW has made it overly difficult to reclaim their signed cards, some of which were signed so long ago that they have been rendered invalid. Although the cards can force a company's hand, federal law still allows the company to ask for a secret ballot before yielding to unionized workers.
