Jetta Sedan Tdi 2003, One Owner - No Reserve! on 2040-cars
Onancock, Virginia, United States
This is a great little car that has had one owner since it was new. It shifts (5 speed) and drives well, still tight and smooth. It gets 45 MPG and over 800 miles to the tankful. It has never been in a wreck. There is some rust starting on the front left wheel well (see photo) from a minor fender bender repair, and rust dots on the front of the hood. The interior is in good shape, no rips or tears, just some rubbing in places like the driver's seat. The seats are leather and the driver's has a 5 position heater. No smoking and no odors. Note you can play either CDs or cassettes, nice radio. It has been serviced by the book. Synthetic oil. Timing belt has been changed twice, once at 100,000, second time 38,000 miles ago. 2 keys and the original owner's manual are included. The car is being sold as is. It is in use and is in Wilmington DE over the weekend until Tuesday Nov 5. After that it will be home in Onancock VA (Eastern Shore). It is the buyer's responsibility for pick up or shipping. I require a $150 non-refundable deposit within 24 hours of the end of the auction. Please ask any and all questions. |

Carlex Criollo is a Volkswagen Multivan shrine to Alcantara, leather and... fish
Wed, 10 Jul 2013A keen angler recently went to Polish tuner Carlex Design (the same folks who did that steampunk Mini Countryman a while back) for a revamp of his Volkswagen Multivan. What resulted is perhaps the most striking - yet fishing-unfriendly - interior we've ever seen in a van. Below the shoulder line, if a surface isn't covered in cross-stitched Alcantara, then it's covered in cross-stitched leather. Even the steering wheel airbag boss. And the seat supports. And the cupholders.
The brown hue of the Multivan's interior is called Criollo, named for an especially fine specimen of cocoa. The finishing touch on the overhaul is a fileting knife that Carlex made for the owner. We imagine he'll use the knife for the marine life, but keep his van far away from it.
Volkswagen Golf R 400 Concept still makes us swoon
Fri, Nov 21 2014We know, we know – this hot little guy isn't really new or anything. Volkswagen first rolled out the Golf R 400 concept in Beijing earlier this year, and since its debut, we've heard rumors that the German automaker might-perhaps-maybe-hopefully build the thing. Its showing here in Los Angeles simply marks the first time it's debuting in America, and honestly, we can't get enough. So here it is, again. Hello, Golf R 400 – we love you. And what's not to love? What starts as a normal Golf R gets better with a more aggressive appearance, big wheels, some tasteful neon yellow accents, and a whole mess of power. The original concept packed 395 horsepower from an overblown 2.0-liter turbo-four, though the most recent reports suggest a production version could produce over 400 hp. To keep it all in line, the concept has all-wheel drive. And inside, it's the same functional, comfortable Golf we've always loved. There's nothing left to say, really. We love this car, and you should, too. Check it out in the gallery above.
Anti-union group files lawsuit against VW and UAW
Fri, 14 Mar 2014The fight for unionization at Volkswagen's Chattanooga, TN, factory isn't letting up. Yesterday, the National Labor Relations Board decided to allow anti-United Auto Workers employees at the plant the right to defend voting down the measure. Now, a group called the National Right to Work Foundation has filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of five workers against VW and the UAW for allegedly working together to organize.
The group says in a release that it wants "to block further collusion between the company and the United Auto Workers." It alleges that VW forced workers to attend "mandatory pro-union meetings" and prevented managers from opposing. In a rebuttal on its website, the UAW called the claims "baseless" and said its actions were entirely legal.
One possible problem faces the carmaker in regards to the lawsuit. According to the Detroit Free Press, a recent US Court of Appeals ruling found that neutrality agreements like the one the business had with the UAW could be illegal if the company provided "things of value" to the union. The newspaper also claims that VW held a mandatory employee meeting concerning the election, but workers were free to leave during the UAW's presentation.
