For Sale: 2011 VW Jetta TDI w/ 6 speed manual trans. Car was involved in a minor front end collision resulting in the issuance of a salvage title. Absolutely no frame damage occurred. All parts have been replaced with 100% VW OEM equipment (all receipts available). This car is scheduled for a NYS safety inspection and will come with a NYS rebuilt title for ease of registration. Please be aware that this car was meticulously repaired and has been stored in a climate controlled garage for the duration of the project. Steering wheel light (orange) is illuminated indicating possible bad sensor on electronic steering rack, I do not have time to replace but this has been considered when determining asking price. I also have pre repair pictures if you would like to see them.

Car is absolutely like new inside, (I do not think anyone has ever sat in the back seat). Exterior is a 9.5 out of 10 in my opinion with a couple minor chips/scratches that have been touched up. These cars regularly get fuel mileage between 40 and 50 mpg on the highway, and 32-35 around town. We do not need this vehicle as it turns out and have decided to sell it.

I will be glad to deliver the vehicle to you (within a reasonable distance) if we agree on the transaction. I have a car trailer and am willing to make this as easy as possible.

Also, I may consider some partial trades towards this car; 4 post car lift, 4- GM Truck wheels/tires for a '99 1500 series Silverado (OEM wheels to be used in place of aftermarket wheels/tires for winter use).
ANY POTENTIAL PARTIAL TRADE MUST BE IN VERY GOOD TO EXCELLENT WORKING CONDITION TO BE CONSIDERED.

Any questions please call 518-281-8847, thanks.

Jalopnik and Consumer Reports see who can pull off the best snow drift

    Fri, Feb 20 2015

The weather throughout much of the United States is pretty awful at the moment with some combination of extremely low temperatures, inches of snow and maybe some ice underneath it all. The folks at Jalopnik and Consumer Reports are making the absolute best out of a difficult situation by heading to CR's snow-covered test track and attempting to make the longest drift in a quartet of very different performance vehicles. Jalopnik brought along a Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S Wagon, a Subaru WRX STI, a BMW 228i and a 1973 Volkswagen Baja Bug (heck yeah!) for the challenge. Also, the track was perfect for this group, with a mix of packed snow in places and still a few inches of unsullied powder in spots too. Ostensibly the goal was to get the tail to step out through a particular corner, but in reality this was more about having hilarious fun in the snow with fast cars. The result just looks like the best time humanly possible in this weather.

UAW angered over VW workers getting right to defend anti-union vote

    Thu, 13 Mar 2014

The United Auto Workers have called a decision by the National Labor Relations Board allowing anti-UAW employees at the Volkswagen factory in Chattanooga the right to defend voting down unionization at the plant "an outrage."
You'll recall that the union was defeated by a vote of 712 to 626 in a contentious February election. The UAW claims the outcome was unfairly swayed by pro-business, anti-union forces, including Senator Bob Corker and political advocate Grover Norquist.
This new decision by the NLRB essentially gives workers backed by the anti-UAW National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation and Southern Momentum a formal voice in the impending hearing on the UAW's appeal of the vote.

Defying Trump, major automakers finalize California emissions deal

    Tue, Aug 18 2020

WASHINGTON — The California Air Resources Board (CARB) and major automakers on Monday confirmed they had finalized binding agreements to cut vehicle emissions in the state, defying the Trump administration's push for weaker curbs on tailpipe pollution. The agreements with carmakers Ford Motor Co, Volkswagen AG, Honda Motor Co and BMW AG were first announced in July 2019 as voluntary measures prompting anger from U.S. President Donald Trump. A month later, the Justice Department opened an antitrust probe into the agreements. The government ended the investigation without action. The Trump administration in March finalized a rollback of U.S. vehicle emissions standards to require 1.5% annual increases in efficiency through 2026. That is far weaker than the 5% annual increases in the discarded rules adopted under President Barack Obama. The 50-page California agreements, which extend through 2026, are less onerous than the standards finalized by the Obama administration but tougher than the Trump administration standards. The automakers have also agreed to electric vehicle commitments. Volvo Cars, owned by China's Geely Holdings, said in March it planned to join the automakers agreeing to the California requirements. It has also finalized its agreement. The settlement agreements say California and automakers agreed to resolve "potential legal disputes concerning the authority of CARB" and other states that have adopted California's standards. In May, a group of 23 U.S. states led by California and some major cities, challenged the Trump vehicle emissions rule. Other major automakers like General Motors Co, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV and Toyota Motor Corp did not join the California agreement. Those companies also sided with the Trump administration in a separate lawsuit over whether the federal government can strip California of the right to set zero emission vehicle requirements. Ford said the "final agreement will reduce emissions in our vehicles at a more stringent rate, support and incentivize the production of electrified products, and create regulatory certainty." BMW said "by setting these long-term, predictable, and achievable standards, we have the regulatory certainty that is necessary for long-term planning that will not only reduce greenhouse gas emissions but ultimately benefit consumers as well."Â
