East Hampton, Connecticut, United States

I purchased this car brand new with 11 miles on 6/13/2011.  This vehicle is in perfect mechanical condition with good brakes and brand new tires.  I have clear title in hand and car is ready to ship or be picked up by buyer.  I can arrange to meet buyer at BDL.  I have sold cars, boats and motorcycles on EBay and will gladly assist in any reasonable way.  Even shipped a boat to Germany once.

What is wrong with the car?  Vehicle has small scratch on left rear panel under tail light.  See photo for detail.  That is all.  Everything else is as it should be

Car runs great.  I used to go across the state of CT and get 43-48 HWY mpg in the summer, just returned from VT tonight from a ski trip and pulled into the garage with 43 MPG.  This car has never had any accidents and never had any paint work.  I thought of getting scratch fixed but felt the new owner should take it to a place they trust, should you decide to fix it.

I am selling the vehicle because I used to drive across the state often and now no longer have a job which requires me to travel as much.  This is a third car for my family so I really have no need for it any longer.  This car has never had a pet in it and has never been smoked in.  It is always garaged.  I had intended on keeping it for far longer and maintained it perfectly.  I just had brand new tires put on the car last month and brakes were checked by dealer who said they are good.  VW approved synthetic oil changes were done to manufacturer's specs and always done exactly on time.  Next oil change is due in 2000 miles.  Fuel filter changed at last oil change as well as air filter.  Wipers are also brand new.  All service records from dealer work come with car.

Interior is black and is in perfect condition.  No tears.  Glass is perfect all around detail.  No windshield chips or cracks.  Headlights are clear with no cracks or chipping.

Windows were tinted last year with 3M tint at a local shop called Attention to Detail--located in Middletown CT.  This car looks sharp and is very economical, you will not be disappointed.

Please email me with any questions and I will promptly reply.  I have been part of eBay since 1995 and have 100% positive feedback rating.

VW Golf R pre-order sells out in less than 11 hours

Fri, Jan 9 2015

Volkswagen fans had to be pretty quick if they wanted to ensure their pre-order for one of the first 500 units of the 2015 Golf R to enter the US. The German brand opened the books online at at 12:01 AM EST, and according to company spokesperson Leigh Anne Sessions speaking to Autoblog, by around 10:30 AM EST all of them were snapped up. VW's pre-order page currently shows these vehicles as no longer available, and the company confirms the news on Twitter, as well. There's still a chance to get an early Golf R by signing up for the waiting list and hoping one of the 500 orders falls through. VW Customer Care will contact people if there's an opening. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. This entire allotment of the Golf R comes in Lapiz Blue Metallic paint with VW's adaptive damper system, navigation, a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox and more. To further sweeten the pot, the company is also giving these folks a watch, key chain and certificate with their vehicle's VIN. The 500 models were priced at $39,090, plus $820 destination and delivery, but only $500 was required to reserve one online. The amount was refundable if a person backed out.

Volkswagen considering a four-door, four-seat XL1

Fri, 22 Aug 2014

According to a report in Autocar, Volkswagen might have more in mind for the XL1 than mining it for advances to grace the next-generation Golf. Aiming to fight the Honda FCEV due for public consumption next year, we're told VW executives have put a four-door, four-seater version of the XL1 - it could be called XL2 - on the drawing board. The impetus is said to come from the top, with VW Group chairman Ferdinand Piëch intent on staying in the deep end of "super-efficent vehicles."
Autocar suspects the necessary changes could raise the weight of the car from 1,749 pounds to 2,068 pounds, which would make it four pounds less than the 2,072-pound Up! we drove a few years ago. Crucially, however, the mag thinks the extra capacity wouldn't change the two-seater's 310-mile-per-gallon rating, with tech tweaks and the aerodynamic benefit of a longer car offsetting the weight. Speculation is that the back seats would be staggered like the fronts in order to maintain the XL1's overall profile.
We recently heard about another XL1 variant that's gone off the radar entirely, the Ducati-engined XLR that we thought we'd see at the Geneva Motor Show and that was said to be going into production, so this one could go the same way. The biggest hurdle to making such an idea a reality, though, could be the price: the current XL1 costs 110,000 euros ($146,116). If VW really is going to compete with the Honda FCEV and the Toyota FCV - $70,000 in Japan - that might be where it wants to start.

VW to relax ambitious US sales targets?

Fri, 16 May 2014

The Volkswagen brand sold 407,704 cars last year, a 6.95-percent decline compared to 2012, and it's down a further 8.36 percent through the end of April 2014 compared to this time last year. In order to to put the sales football between its Strategy 2018 goal posts, the brand would need to add 100,000 more sales every year to achieve the lofty 800,000-unit target. Coming to grips with how unreasonable that is, VW US CEO Michael Horn has said, "For now, we have to have realistic targets."
The reasons for the brand's slow-down are imprecise, but lots of folks are throwing lots of reasons around. Last November, VW Group Chairman Ferdinand Piech told Bloomberg, "We understand Europe, we understand China and we understand Brazil, [but] we only understand the US to a certain degree so far." Analysts say the brand hasn't had midsize and compact SUV offerings, especially an overdue retail version of the CrossBlue, and the ones it does have are priced too high for their segments. It "didn't introduce enough new engines, or alternative technologies or model variants" for the Passat and Jetta. It devoted so many resources to China that the US market suffered. It was being outspent two-to-one on advertising by competitors. Its J.D. Power dependability ratings aren't high enough to overcome its past. It "has never really taken the US customer seriously." And so on.
There's still no official admission of defeat concerning the target, but reading between the lines there are some VW execs that appear to accept it won't happen short of some deus ex machina. Still,
