2010 Volkswagen Jetta Tdi Cup Edition, 6-sped, 85,000 Miles, 42 Mpg on 2040-cars
Kalamazoo, Michigan, United States
2010 TDI Cup Edition – Candy White, 6spd. Currently at 85,XXX miles and will not be rising as it’s not being driven. I am the second owner, I purchased the car at 9,000 miles as a highway commuter… I used to commute 120 miles/day to work. The exterior of the car is in good shape with only normal rock chips on the front end. All 4 wheels are in good condition with the exception of 1 which has some light rash. The only things not stock on the car are the addition of a honeycomb grille kit with fog lights and the removal of the stripes on the side. The original chrome grille will come with the car. The interior is very clean and has never been smoked in. It includes the touch screen radio – no navigation, and Bluetooth phone. The car has been incredibly reliable and gets great gas mileage. I used to see anywhere from 40-45mpg on my 75-80mph commute. The car is priced to sell… |

VW's Winterkorn tells 20,000 staffers of big cost-cutting plans
Thu, 24 Jul 2014During a gathering of 20,000 Volkswagen Group employees at company headquarters in Wolfsburg, Germany on Wednesday, CEO Martin Winterkorn dropped a bombshell. The boss stated that the automaker isn't operating efficiently enough and admitted the company needs to radically start cutting back to raise its profit margins. To right the ship, Winterkorn has proposed killing off less profitable models and spending less on research and development.
According to Reuters, Winterkorn wants to raise the VW brand's profit margin from about 2.9 percent in 2013 to a target of 6 percent. To make that possible, his plan amounts to increasing cost cutting until Volkswagen reaches about 5 billion euros ($6.7 billion) per year to get things back in order. "Over the short-term, we urgently need more efficiency and higher profit," the CEO said during his speech, according to Reuters.
However, Winterkorn can't make these decisions unilaterally. Volkswagen's works council also has a seat on the supervisory board to represent laborers, and it isn't likely to take the proposed cuts sitting down.
Tanner Foust checks out his new VW Beetle GRC rally car
Thu, 11 Sep 2014Racing driver and Top Gear USA host Tanner Foust is a very busy guy. After all, he's competing in rounds of both Global Rallycross series and FIA World Rallycross Championship, not to mention his TV duties. However, we probably shouldn't feel too sorry for him, because his job puts him behind the wheel of some truly crazy machinery.
Case in point is his latest ride in Global Rallycross - the Volkswagen Beetle GRC. The German company claims that this all-wheel drive Bug makes around 540 horsepower from its 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and can shoot to 60 in under 2 seconds. Plus, if this video is any indication, this Volkswagen sounds like a machine gun when throwing revs at idle, and it can do some wonderfully easy four-wheel drifts.
Previously, Foust was driving a VW Polo for Andretti Autosport in GRC, but the team unveiled the look of the Beetle GRC at the Chicago Auto Show. Now, Foust is finally getting to show off his new office to the public, and like VW's tagline for the new car claims, it's way hotter than Herbie.
