Selling a 2008 Volkswagen GLI.  Off white exterior with black cloth interior.  DSG transmission (automatic, with paddle shifters).  2.0 liter FSI turbo motor.

This car was a victim of vandalism.  As you can see in the pictures, somebody must have hated the previous owner of this car.  Going to try listing all things that need attention.  The seats look to have been slashed by razor blades.  Can probably be reupholstered.  Some of the air vents are broken.  The radio screen is cracked.  The gauge cluster is broken (speedometer, tach, gas gauge and temp gauge still work, but the center information center area, red part, is damaged).  There are a few dents on the exterior.  There are some aftermarket 18" wheels on the car, and the left rear tire needs replacing.  There is a bubble on the inner sidewall, and that tire has a slow leak.  The right front wheel has a small bend on the lip.  The larger engine cooling fan is missing (smaller one and complete shroud are there).  The car does not have a jack or spare tire.

This car does run and drive.  Engine is healthy, as is the DSG transmission.

With just the small cooling fan, we didn't experience any overheating issues on an 80 mile trip today.  However, this fan should be replaced (it's a $130 part).

This GLI carries a Pennsylvania rebuildable salvage title.  It does have to go through salvage inspection before a rebuilt title is issued.  It does have "not actual mileage" x'd off on the back of the title, because the insurance company that paid out on the car could not read the mileage off the car, as the digital section of the gauge cluster that shows mileage is damaged.  I do have a laptop with VW software (VCDS) that can read mileage off the ECU.  I will update this ad on the mileage section once I get the computer hooked up to it (probably tomorrow, Friday).  Autocheck last shows mileage of this car at 42,811 miles.  The mileage I will be pulling out of the ECU will be the ACTUAL mileage the car has.  The 50k miles listed is approximate.

Outside of this sale, I may have a brand new gauge cluster for this car for sale, as well as a factory radio with code (same radio as the one in the car now).  I can sell these to the buyer of this car.  Not looking to sell those to others.

Car is sold as-is, without any warranty, expressed or implied.

With the sale, I can deliver the car up to 50 miles of 07747.  I can also help arrange for towing or transport if yo are farther out than that.  You can also come pick the car up, but I do recommend that if you are driving this car any significant amount of distance, to at the very least replace the larger cooling fan and the left rear tire.  If buyer is willin g to pay for cooling fan, tire and labor, I can drop the car off at a shop to have that done before car is picked up.

Title in hand, ready to go.

Terms are as followed:  $250 deposit due within 24 hours after close of auction, via Paypal.  Balance is due within 7 days of close of auction, with bank check or cash.  Title and car will not be released until full payment is made.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Happy Bidding, but use buy it now if you want the car right now!!!  Thanks for looking!

The hottest modern sports cars rendered as rally racers

Thu, Jan 14 2016

The modern-day World Rally Championship a monumental amount of fun to watch – I should know, as I recently was lucky enough to head to the UK to watch WRC Wales Rally GB – but even the most monstrous of the current WRC cars are based on fairly pedestrian European hatchbacks. Back in the heyday of rally, the Group B era in the 1980s, much hotter cars were the basis of even more incredible competition machines, for the most part. Take the exotic Ford RS200, or the Lancia Delta S4 with its twin-charged engine. And the hatchback-based Group B cars were bonkers, too. So what would some of our favorite modern cars look like if Group B had never ended? A British site named CarWow hired an artist to reimagine everything from the Rolls-Royce Wraith to the Porsche 911 as a retro-inspired rally car, and they were kind enough to let us share the results in the gallery above. The gallery features an Alfa Romeo Giulia in Martini livery, an Audi TT in classic Ur-Quattro colors, a Fiat 500 Abarth sporting massive flares and a hood blister full of auxiliary lights, a new Ford Mustang in RS200 livery, a Lancia Delta in Alitalia colors, a Porsche 911 in Rothmans livery, a Renault-Alpine in classic blue, a Rolls-Royce Wraith tribute to the Jules cologne Corniche Coupe, and a relatively modern-looking VW Touran. So far, the favorite around the office is the incredible Mercedes-Benz S-Class that is an homage to the wonderful 300 SEL 6.8 AMG "Red Pig" that essentially put AMG on the map. Check out the gallery above and see which one you like the best. Related Video:

Weekly Recap: Mercedes, Volkswagen spend big as import automakers invest in North America

Sat, Mar 14 2015

Import automakers are on a building frenzy in North America as resurgent car sales have prompted companies to expand their manufacturing footprints to meet rising demand. That was evidenced this week when Mercedes-Benz announced plans to build a $500-million factory to produce the Sprinter commercial van, and Volkswagen confirmed a whopping $1-billion investment to expand its massive plant in Mexico. Meanwhile Jaguar Land Rover reportedly wants to build a factory in North America, but not for at least three years, and Hyundai is said to be expanding in the southern United States. The common thread in all of this expansion? Trucks, time and money. Mercedes wants to capitalize on the burgeoning work van segment in the United States and will break ground in 2016 on a 200-acre site in Charleston, SC, to build the next-generation Sprinter. The site will have a paint shop, body shop and an assembly line, and 1,300 people will be employed when production ramps up. Why do this, when Mercedes has immense van operations in Germany? It's cheaper to build in the US for the US market. Building locally allows Mercedes to avoid import taxes, forego a complex shipping process that involves partially disassembling German-built Sprinters and naturally, reduces the time it takes to deliver finished trucks to their buyers. "This plant is key to our future growth in the very dynamic North American van market," Volker Mornhinweg, head of Mercedes-Benz Vans, said in a statement. He was speaking about Mercedes and vans, but another German automotive giant, Volkswagen, had similar motives for its mammoth expansion plans in Puebla, Mexico. The added space and production capacity will allow VW to build a three-row version of the Tiguan, and provide another crossover for its US lineup that's light on SUVs. The current Tiguan has two rows. The factory will be able to churn out 500 units daily of the larger variant, and they will be sold in North and South America. It will arrive in the US in mid-2017, a spokesman told Autoblog. VW also plans to build another crossover, a midsize seven-passenger vehicle, at its growing Chattanooga, TN, site. "Localization has become key to safeguarding our competitive position on the global market, and manufacturing the Tiguan in Mexico will bring production closer to the US market," Michael Horn, CEO of Volkswagen Group of America, said in a statement.

German judge 'inclined to dismiss' hedge fund lawsuit against Porsche

Fri, Feb 27 2015

Last year, around two dozen investors, including hedge funds, leveled a 1.4 billion euro ($1.95 billion at the time) lawsuit against Porsche in connection with the automaker's attempted takeover of Volkswagen in 2008. The Stuttgart Regional Court dismissed the case. Around 19 of those plaintiffs are heading back to court to appeal the ruling and still hope to get 1.2 billion euros ($1.4 billion). However, according to one German judge, the chances for success aren't any better this time around. "On balance it's our view that we consider the lawsuit, or the appeal, to be unpromising for several reasons," Gerhard Ruf, a judge in Stuttgart, said to Reuters. "We are inclined to dismiss the case." The court's ruling on the appeal will be announced on March 26. The investors' case hinges on Porsche's strategy surrounding the botched takeover. The sports car maker said that it wasn't trying to control VW, when in fact it was. These hedge funds had bet against Volkswagen stock, but the share price surged when Porsche's plan inevitably came to light. Investors have sued the sports car company multiple times since then in attempts to recoup billions of dollars. However, none of the lawsuits have been successful, whether attempted in the US or Germany. Former Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking and and CFO Holger Haerter might still stand trial for the alleged stock manipulation, though.
