You are looking at a 2006 VW JETTA TDI  169900 miles on it but currently driving this vehicle so this number may change within a few miles.   I purchased this Jetta to get it up to date and make it my daily driver for my work, but turns out the company I work for just purchased us new cars.  The car drives perfectly and is ready to go anywhere.  As you can see I have gone ahead and updated the the front clip with the GLI front (looks great) and replaced the headlights to headlights with Halo's and LED strips.  I will describe the car to the best of my ability, I have put a lot of money in repairs to get her 100% and should easily do 100,000 miles without any problems or any repairs.  If you have any questions please ask, I am a VW TDI fanatic, my wife owns an MK6 and I have always owned TDI's.  This is a great car, great future commuter car or just a great car to have a rare vehicle that looks like a real GLI but actually a TDI, you get the best of both worlds TDI MPG & GLI looks.  The 2005-2006 Jetta TDI's are the best TDI jetta's personally since they are Pre-DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) which reduces MPG significantly on the newer Jettas.
The Good:

  • Upgraded GLI front end upgrade
  • Upgraded Headlights with Halo's & LED strips
  • Taillights have been blacked out lightly to match the car
  • Replaced marker lights to match sporty style
  • All tires are 80% tread.
  • AC Blows very cold
  • Heated Seats work perfectly on both seats
  • Power Windows all work perfectly in all windows
  • Vehicle does not have a single leak (no engine, transmission oil leaks or coolant system leaks)
  • To get car ready for being my commuter car about 2 months ago I got the following work done (I have receipts)
  • Water Pump, Timing Chain, Serpentine Belt, Oil Change, Fuel Filter, Air Filter, Cabin Air Filter, Alternator, Battery (still under warranty for 3 years), Front          Rotors & Brakes
  • 1 month ago I got the Clutch and flywheel assembly done since the flywheel started to make some noise.
  • I upgraded the stereo system to the Double-din Pioneer App radio, works great with iPhones via bluetooth or cables provided
  • Tinted windows 35% legal & window sticker certification
  • Paint & Body get a 9 out of 10 paint is in great condition and overall looks great, no chips or faded areas
  • Interior get a 9.5 out of 10 looks great, all power buttons work, interior is very clean has original carpets, no tears and overall interior has been well maintained.
  • Vehicle recently passed NC inspection and has no lights on in the dash

The Bad:

This vehicle was involved in a wreck, the car damage wasn't actually that bad, airbags did not deploy and  parts replaced included hood, radiator support & fenders and this was when I took the opportunity to upgrade the front clip to the GLI style Jetta MK5 front.  The original cooling system was used and actually A/C system was never discharged or recharged since none of these items were replaced or damaged.   The damage was mainly on the upper section of the hood, taking most of the impact from the wreck, vehicle did not have frame damage and currently does not have any type of damage and as you can see from the pictures does not look as if it ever had been in an accident.  I drive this car regularly and enjoy averaging about 50 MPG easily and vehicle does not shake at all, drives great overall unfortunately the vehicle was branded Salvage (to be honest unjustly).  I currently have it insured with GEICO and didn't have any issues getting it registered.  Overall I give the car a 8.5 out of 10 and the 1/2 point loss would be due to the salvage title.  This vehicle has always had the routine 10K miles service and 100K and recently 160K Timing belt and clutch/flywheel.  You will not be disappointed with this car and if you are looking for a dependable car, this car cannot be beat since currently its fully up to date on service.

If you have any questions please ask, I can pick up anyone from RDU (Raleigh-Durham Airport) and this vehicle can basically drive anywhere.  As previously stated I am only selling this car because I honestly am not driving it much and after all of the upgrades and repairs I have done to this car its ready to go on the road.  I require a $500 paypal deposit within 48 hours of purchase, only serious buyers, I will report fake or spoof buyers.  I can hold on to car as long as needed and if you need the vehicle shipped I can help with making arrangements for shipping or dropping off at nearest port.  The remaining balance will be required within 7 days via wire transfer or as soon as vehicle is picked up with a certified cashiers check or cash.  I have used eBay over 10+ years and I can try to help and work with you as best as I can, within reason.
Happy Bidding and if you need any other information please feel free to let me know.  I will be uploading some more pictures of the car later in the week and if theres a picture in particular you would like feel free to let me know.

An inside look at VW's new California R&D center

    Thu, 18 Oct 2012

Less than two months ago, the Volkswagen Group opened a new facility in Oxnard, California (about an hour's drive west of Los Angeles). The $27 million investment, touted as Test Center California (TCC), serves as a research and development lab testing emissions for all brands under Volkswagen's umbrella, including its newest member, Porsche. While still not fully operational, we toured the new 64,000-square-foot building last week and had a first-hand opportunity to see just how much work is involved testing engines and meeting increasingly stringent government emissions standards.
Replacing a similar facility established in 1990 in Westlake Village (about 20-minutes east of the new location), our guide explained how Oxnard was chosen for its temperate climate, varied regional terrain for test drives and low altitude. (The area is only a few feet above sea level - a critical parameter when instrument testing emissions.) The new facility is capable of analyzing hundreds of vehicles, prototypes and customer-owned vehicles, annually.
Most interesting to us was the huge stainless steel climate chamber, with a massive four-wheel dynamometer that allows VW to test running vehicles in both scorching desert and freezing climates without ever leaving the building (an Audi Q7 was running in place during our visit). We were also mesmerized by the countless storage tanks and intricate plumbing of chemicals, stored in both liquid and gas states, needed to perform the variety of tests. Lastly, we took a look at Bugatti's service center on the west coast, located completely within the new center. While there were no supercars on site, the facility is equipped with plenty of spare forged wheels (mounted with expensive Michelin PAX tires) and a Veyron-specific repair jig that allows the vehicle to be completely disassembled, if needed. It is a shame that the facility, which set off all of our automotive geek alerts, is closed to the public.

VW recognizes second union at Chattanooga plant

    Wed, Feb 18 2015

The ongoing story of organizing workers at Volkswagen's factory in Chattanooga, TN, continues to get more complicated. Following an independent audit, the automaker has now recognized a second union at the plant called the American Council of Employees. The group was founded there last year to offer an alternative to the United Auto Workers. "I'm not anti-union. I understand that a properly run union can benefit people. We will be that union," Sean Moss, president of the ACE, said to Reuters, according to Automotive News. The group claims to represent at least 15 percent of the workers at the plant. Acceptance of the ACE has led to an interesting situation in Chattanooga because VW also recognized the UAW at the factory in December 2014, and the group has claimed to represent at least 45 percent of workers there. According to Automotive News, each union has access to management, but the UAW has more because of its larger contingent of supporters. However, neither organization has a collective bargaining agreement with the automaker. Moss may have a rough time increasing support among employees at the factory. According to Automotive News, many anti-UAW workers there are completely against unions in general. Getting these folks to join his group isn't an easy task. The UAW has been working to fully represent the VW factory for years. However, the group lost a vote to do so in 2014. It eventually created a union local there to try to build support. All of the effort comes ahead of a $900 million plant expansion to add about 2,000 jobs and build a new crossover in Tennessee. Volkswagen debuts MkVII-based diesel Golf GTD

    Thu, 21 Feb 2013

As Volkswagen prepares for the launch of the seventh-generation Golf, it continues to show off some of the car's different variants. With the standard Golf and the ultra-efficient BlueMotion Concept out of the way, now we're finally starting to see some of the sportier versions planned for the hatchback. Confirmed for a debut at the Geneva Motor Show, Volkswagen has now given us our first glimpse at the Golf GTD.
Just think of the GTD as a diesel version of the GTI with all the handling and styling upgrades, and then add a torquey engine to the equation. (We had the chance to sample the current GTD over the summer, so click here to read more.) To go with the new body style, VW also gave the GTD a new TDI engine consisting of a similar turbocharged and direct-injected 2.0-liter inline-four layout but with an output of 184 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque - that's an increase of 14 hp and 22 lb-ft over the current GTD. That's a pretty good oomph, but the GTD won't be setting any acceleration records with VW quoting a 0-62 mile per hour time of 7.5 seconds thanks to the car's 3,036-pound curb weight.
The styling of the MkVII Golf lends itself quite well to the more aggressive body kit found on the GTD (and likely matching the GTI). The new front fascia and blacked-out grille give the GTD a sporty look up front, while 17-inch sport wheels, rocker panel extensions and smoked LED taillights finish off the visual changes. The GTD will only be offered in three exterior colors: Tornado Red, Black and Pure White. As expected, the interior gets the plaid seat inserts and flat-bottomed sport steering wheel, but the car also gets stainless steel pedals, a black headliner, ambient cabin lighting and a specific gauge cluster readout.
