I love this car and am sad to see it go... only selling because I moved to the heart of uptown and work from home. Not in a hurry to sell! It drives very well and has a great driving feel that can only come from German engineering. It also has an after-market stereo (w/ Bluetooth for phone integration) that matches the look of the rest of the console - looks and sounds great! A/C is ice cold and all the automatic parts (windows, mirrors, etc) work perfectly.

I've taken great care of it and kept all of the maintenance records. Recently had the backup radiator fan replaced even though it worked through the Texas heat in August like a champ without it. Only full synthetic oil used and changed regularly. I've never had any real problems with this car because I follow VW's maintenance schedule perfectly. Tires are in decent condition and won't need to be changed soon.

There are some very small paint scratches and a fist-sized dent in the front tire well (see pictures) from a stray truck backing into it about a year ago, but it's hard to notice and easy/cheap to fix if that's your thing. I just had a full detail done and it looks fantastic for a 7 year old car with this mileage.

Note: it didn't come with floormats when I bought it, and I'm not a dirty person so I let it slide. As you can see from the pictures, the floorboards are in great condition.

Since I work from home I'm available on most days between 11am and 7pm. Email to set up a time to meet - local pickup only! Thanks!

Volkswagen formally introduces super-efficient XL1

Mon, 04 Mar 2013

Lightweight and low drag are hallmarks of great sportscar design. But when paired with a super-efficient, hybrid powertrain, you have the Volkswagen's XL1 that has been formally introduced in Geneva today.
When the 1,700-lb, carbon-fiber-bodied two-seater hits the road, its claimed 261 miles per gallon will make it the world's most-fuel-efficient production car. Though "production car" might be a stretch since VW said in a February press release that the XL1 would be built using "handcrafting-like production methods." We translate that to mean you won't be seeing many of these cars on the road. Though no one at VW has mentioned pricing yet, early rumors suggested a six-figure price tag.
That's supercar budget for a vehicle that has a 47-horsepower, two-cylinder diesel engine and a 27hp electric motor. With numbers like that, owners can expect 0-62 mph times of 12.7 seconds and top speed near 100 mph.

Volkswagen drops "GTi" lawsuit against Suzuki

Tue, 02 Oct 2012

Way back in 2004, Volkswagen took umbrage with Suzuki being granted permission to use the nameplate "SWIFT GTi" for a performance variant of its small-car offering (2012 equivalent seen here). Now, eight years and surely some very steep legal bills later, VW has finally dropped its claim against Suzuki.
The General Court of the European Union stated, back in March of this year, that Suzuki's GTi registration could not be confused with VW's "Golf GTI." Volkswagen had appealed that ruling, though has now reportedly called off the dogs. In fact, Germany's Die Welt reports that the appeal has been dead for several weeks now.
This news comes amongst continued arbitration acrimony between the two automakers, all revolving around VW's forced divestiture of nearly 20-percent stake it purchased in Suzuki some two years ago.

Former Porsche boss Wiedeking won't face criminal charges over VW bid

Mon, 28 Apr 2014

Hedge fund managers have been suing Porsche for years now, alleging that the car company lied about its intentions during its failed attempt to take over Volkswagen, a gambit that caused them billion in losses. Over the same period, authorities in Stuttgart built a criminal case against former CEO Wendelin Wiedeking (above, left) and Chief Financial Officer Holger Härter (right), filing charges in December 2012. When those fund plaintiffs lost their most recent court case, one of the dimming lights in the dark and receding tunnel was that the criminal investigation might unearth more evidence about Porsche's actions that could help the plaintiffs in pending litigation.
Bloomberg reports that another light has gone out, though, with a Stuttgart court dismissing the market manipulation case before going to trial because, as a court spokesperson said, "there wasn't enough evidence backing up the charges." When prosecutors get the files back from the court, they have a week to decide to refile, but unless they've been sandbagging evidence that could bolster the case, the only lights at the end of the tunnel will be those welcoming Wiedeking and Härter back to the world of legally unencumbered men.
