A few scratches and small dings, but no rust or major damage.

Still has a lot of good miles left.

Tires are in great shape.

We have all original manuals & documentation of regular service available for inspection.

My son, the owner's husband, is very familiar with the car & has provided the following detailed write-up:

2004 Volkswagen Jetta GLS 4 door sedan for sale.  101k miles.  1 owner car.
Garage kept for majority of its life. Oil always changed at 5k mile intervals or
less.

Black Leather Interior
2.0 Liter Engine
Automatic Transmission
A/C
Heated front seats
CD Player
Power Windows
Power Sunroof
Alloy Wheels
2 Keys with Remote Keyless Entry
Audio Controls on Steering Wheel
Cruise Controls on Steering Wheel

This car is owned outright (no loans, lease, etc.).  It is a one non-smoking  family owner car from
new. It is well taken care of and currently has no mechanical issues as far as I
know.  I have never had an electrical issue with this car.  I have never had any
leaking associated with the car.  I have full faith and confidence in this car
and never doubt its ability to get me where I need to go.  In the last year, I
have driven it to California and back once and to New York and back twice (I
drove it to 36 states this past year). This car has always been reliable for my
wife and me and has never had even a minor malfunction.  We have the car
maintained regularly.  The car has never been wrecked or stolen.  We are selling
the car because we bought a new car and we don't have space in our garage, so
this one has to go.  If you are thinking to yourself that this car is priced
under the market, that's because it is.  I don't want to haggle over price and
wait around for the car to sell.  I just want to move it.  And I'd much rather
have someone get a good deal on this car than sell it to someone like CarMax and
have them make a huge profit off it.

The "Best Offer "option is also available.

We have pretty comprehensive service records of the car from new.

Cosmetically, the car is solid, but we do live downtown so there are certainly a
handful of nicks and scratches on the front and rear bumpers.  There is no rust
that I am aware of.  The interior is nice.  There are a couple small scratches
on the backseat, but nothing serious and no tears.  The floormats have devices
that keep them attached to the floor.  One of these has had the device come off.
There is also a rock chip in the front windshield from a truck carrying gravel
on the highway that had some stones fall out of the truck.

The only other problem I can think of is that the trunk is difficult to open and
close (takes more effort than you would expect).  It has been this way for
almost the entirety of the car's life.  We had the dealer look at the pneumatics
once, and they sprayed some lubricant on it which helped for awhile, but
ultimately reverted back to being difficult to open and close.  The trunk has
never had any damage to it.  This is just purely a problem with the pneumatics
that keep the trunk elevated when open.

Clear title available for transfer.

Extra set of keys included.

Please see all 24 pictures & ask for more if you so desire.

Again , please call or text Lynn at 937-546-5511 with any questions.

I will also be watching ebay messages & will respond to any questions ASAP.

Questions & answers will be available for all to see at the bottom of the listing.

Brazil contemplates safety exemption for VW Kombi as it goes out of production today [w/poll]

Tue, 31 Dec 2013

Brazil: the country of carnivals, indescribable beauty adjacent to abject poverty, Ayrton Senna and old Volkswagen models. Only they're not old - they're new, they're just based on old designs. The original Beetle continued production there long after it had been phased out elsewhere, but the original Kombi van has lasted much longer. That ends today, however, with the iconic VW Microbus ambling out of production on the last day of 2013.
VW kept making the van in Brazil with the original air-cooled 1.2-liter boxer four until 2005, after which the original design was updated with a 1.4-liter water-cooled engine. Today, however, it ultimately falls prey to safety regulations that mandate that all vehicles - no matter how old their design - need to have airbags and ABS, forcing Volkswagen do Brasil to cease production of the Microbus after a 56-year production run. But the latest word is that the Kombi (as it's presently known) could get a stay of execution - or at least a resurrection in short order.
According to reports, the Brazilian government is looking into granting the Type 2 Microbus an exemption from said safety regulations, reasoning that the van was designed long before the advent of airbags and ABS. If the measure goes through, the Kombi Last Edition (pictured above) could prove not to be the last at all. So what do you think, should the Microbus get an exemption from Brazilian safety regulations for nostalgia's sake? Vote in our poll below, then have your say in Comments.

Porsche 911 with VW turbodiesel prepares for LeMons assault

Fri, 21 Mar 2014

LeMons racing is a wonderful example that setting limits can actually breed creativity. The series mandates that all entries must cost $500, not counting safety equipment, and that cap forces teams to be ingenious in how they build a racecar. Take for example this diesel-powered Porsche 911, which its creators have dubbed Ferkel the Nein-11, that will be racing in the Sears Pointless race this weekend in Sonoma, California.
This Frankenstein combines a 911 chassis that was originally bought just for its European powertrain and a Volkswagen TDI diesel engine mounted in the rear. After deciding the shell could still be of some use, the team decided to go racing. "We began brainstorming what replacement drivetrain to use for maximum offense and there was really only one answer: a diesel," said Philipp von Weitershausen, one of the team captains, to Jalopnik. They bought a 1998 Jetta TDI on the cheap and started figuring out a way to hack the engine into the bay. To pay respect to the donor, the VW's trunk was highly modified (and drilled) and grafted onto the back of Ferkel.
This team isn't a newcomer to LeMons. Its last car was a classic VW Beetle with a Subaru engine and dual controls, named Ferdinand the Bug, which could be driven from the left or right side. It's quite a sight.

Ferdinand Piech (1937-2019): The man who made VW global

Tue, Aug 27 2019

Towering among his peers, a giant of the auto industry died Sunday night in Rosenheim/Upper Bavaria, Germany. Ferdinand Piech, a grandson of Ferdinand Porsche, who conceived the original Volkswagen in the 1930s, was the most polarizing automotive executive of our times. And one who brought automotive technology further than anyone else. Ferdinand Porsche had a son, Ferdinand (called "Ferry"), and a daughter, Louise, who married the Viennese lawyer Anton Piech. They gave birth to Ferdinand Piech, and his proximity to two Alfa Romeo sports cars — Porsche had done some work for the Italians — and the "Berlin-Rome-Berlin" race car, developed by Porsche himself, gave birth to Piech's interest in cars. After his teachers in Salzburg told his mother he was "too stupid" to attend school there, Piech, who was open about his dyslexia, was sent to a boarding school in Switzerland. He subsequently moved on to Porsche, where he fixed issues with the 904 race car and did major work on the 911. But his greatest project was the Le Mans-winning 917 race car, developed at breathtaking financial cost. It annihilated the competition, but the family had had enough: Amid growing tension among the four cousins working at Porsche and Piech's uncle Ferry, the family decided to pull every family member, except for Ferry, out of their management positions. Piech started his own consultancy business, where he designed the famous five-cylinder diesel for Mercedes-Benz, but quickly moved on to Audi, first as an engineer and then as CEO, where he set out to transform the dull brand into a technology leader. Piech killed the Wankel engine and hammered out a number of ambitious and sophisticated technologies. Among them: The five-cylinder gasoline engine; Quattro all-wheel drive and Audi's fantastic rally successes; and turbocharging, developed with Fritz Indra, whom Piech recruited from Alpina. The Audi 100/200/5000 became the world's fastest production sedan, thanks to their superior aerodynamics. Piech also launched zinc-coated bodies for longevity — and gave diesel technology a decisive boost with the advent of the fast and ultra-efficient TDI engines. Less known: Piech also decided to put larger gas tanks into cars. Customers loved it. Piech's first-generation Audi V8 was met with derision by competitors; it was too obviously based on the 200/5000.
