Hello all,
I am finally selling my VW Jetta Wagon.
I’ve had a company car for 4 years, and have come to the conclusion that
I should sell our “third” car. I’ve only
put about 1,000 miles on the car over the past 4 years, driving it to the
office once a week. It had a new battery
put in by AAA last year, and new brakes this year.
This car is in very nice shape, runs and drives great. The car has BFGoodrich Long Trail T/A tires that have a lot of tread left on them. I put these on because for my previous job I needed to go up and down steep gravel roads for a bit and the tires worked great (they are actually small truck tires). The air conditioner blows ice cold as it should. The interior shows a normal amount of wear for its age, but there are no rips or tears. The exterior paint is nice, but there are some minor scratches and dents (see photos). The front bumper was backed into in a parking lot, but other than that and some minor rust on the front drivers side wheel well the body is in great condition. Everything functions as it should, and it is a great car! I hate to sell it, but I feel it’s time to let someone else enjoy it since I’m not able too. The car
has the VW monster floor mats, as well as 4 extra steel wheels that are
thrown into this deal (see photos). Two of the hub caps have lost the "VW" symbols. I am the 3rd owner of the car and have had it since 2006. Even with the large tires it still shows I get 44 MPG, I am not sure how much the tires throw off the actual MPG. I had Sirius installed, so if you would like to use your portable face you will just need to get the adapter for your face. Otherwise you are good to go. I have two keys, the typical remote fob and a regular key. The battery in the fob needs to be replaced. No Reserve Local Pickup or buyer must arrange any shipping, $500 nonrefundable PayPal deposit required at end of auction. Please arrange to inspect vehicle if desired before bidding or auction ends. I do reserve the right to end it early, as it is being offered for sale locally. A non-refundable $500 paypal deposit is required within 48 hours of auction end, and full payment within 7 days. Feel free to message me here if you have any questions. I can meet you at the Columbus, OH airport (CMH) and you can drive the car home from there. I will have it the tank full so you can go about 500 miles before needing to fill up. Thanks for looking, and Happy Bidding! |

Watch the VW E-Golf get made
Fri, Jun 13 2014If you've ever been on a tour of an automotive factory, you know how mesmerizing it can be to see humans and robots work together to build our four-wheeled friends. The swift automation, the cleanliness, the trained hands deftly fitting pieces together and watchful eyes inspecting every piece of the car, it's all quite impressive, especially if the vehicle is one you, as an observer, are fond of. Even just seeing a fresh, gleaming badge being applied to immaculately painted sheet metal is enough to curl ones toes. Such is the case with this video from of the E-Golf being pieced together in the Volkswagen's Wolfsburg plant. There's no narration or music - just the sounds of production - so it's easy to follow the singular motions that go into the process without distraction, with a slight sense of actually being on the floor. This solo video is only seven minutes long, so it's not quite the epic that was the BMW i3 production series. Therefore, we miss a lot of the initial build, such as pressing the sheet metal, painting, and putting together a lot of the inner workings. What is refreshing to see is how much of the final touches of the electric Golf are done by hand using actual hand tools (and with typical German efficiency). There's even a person riding a bicycle through the factory at one point, which is common at Wolfsburg and also rather quaint. Enjoy the video below, and if you have a suggestion for a good soundtrack to go along with it, sound off in the comments. This content is hosted by a third party. Regulators consider adding more carmakers to Takata recall
Tue, Sep 29 2015Volkswagen's diesel emissions scandal has been getting a lot of press recently, but the Takata airbag inflator affair could be grabbing headlines again soon. According to Bloomberg, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is contemplating an expansion to the campaign that could add seven automakers to the 12 already affected. They are Jaguar Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz, Spartan Motors, Suzuki, Tesla, Volvo Trucks, and VW Group. To be clear, there's no recall for any of these automakers, yet. The government is simply asking for a full list of vehicles that each of them have with Takata-supplied inflators containing ammonium nitrate propellant. The agency is concerned this substance could play a roll in the ruptures. "NHTSA is considering not only whether to issue an administrative order that would coordinate the remedy programs associated with the current Takata recalls, but also whether such an order should include expansion of the current recalls," the letters say. All seven can be viewed, here. From a report supplied by Takata, the government already knows that the company supplied 887,055 inflators with ammonium-nitrate propellant to VW and 184,926 of them to Tesla. In an incident during the summer, a side airbag allegedly burst in a 2015 VW Tiguan. In early September, NHTSA put out a revised report that there were 23.4 million inflators to be replaced in 19.2 million vehicles in the US. An earlier accounting from the agency had about 34 million of the parts in 30 million cars. High humidity is still believed to be among the biggest risk factors for the ruptures. Although, if ammonium nitrate also gets the blame, some already recalled models might need to be repaired again. Related Video:
Former Audi chief designer Wolfgang Egger leaves Italdesign
Sat, Dec 27 2014The latest word from the international community of automotive designers has it that Wolfgang Egger is leaving Italdesign, but just where the accomplished designer will land next and who will take his place remain big question marks. Egger is a designer who has bounced back and forth between Italy and Germany over the course of his career. He was born in Germany but studied in Milan. He began his career at Alfa Romeo in 1989 and was named its chief designer by 1993 before being head-hunted by the Volkswagen Group in 1998 to head up the design department at Seat. A few years later he went returned to Italy to run the Lancia design department, and was subsequently renamed to the same post at Alfa Romeo. In 2007 he went back to his native Germany to head up the Audi design office, over which he assumed complete responsibility by 2012, but left Audi in 2013 to run Italdesign. For those unfamiliar, Italdesign is the studio founded by Giorgetto Giugiaro (pictured at left next to Egger) back in 1968 but which, along with many other Italian design houses, fell on hard times in recent years. The Volkswagen Group swooped in to rescue the troubled studio in 2010, turning it into something of an in-house advanced design department to provide an alternative perspective on the direction in which the group and its various brands could take their respective designs moving forward. With Egger now leaving its helm, Italdesign and its German parent company will need to find his replacement, and we're sure they'll announce one in due course. The bigger question on our minds, however, is where Egger himself will head next. Given the path his career has taken to date, we wouldn't be surprised to see him land elsewhere in the Volkswagen Group or find a new role in the expanding Fiat Chrysler Automobiles empire. Then again, Egger could find it time to open an entirely new chapter. Watch this space.
