2004 Volkswagen Jetta Gls Sedan 4-door 1.8l Turbo on 2040-cars
Columbia, South Carolina, United States
I am re-listing this auction due to non payment. The high bidder never showed or paid. Please, bid to own. You are looking at a great little car! 2004 VW Jetta GLS Turbo Sedan with manual transmission. It is very reliable, responsive, and fun to drive. This has been my daily transportation for almost 2 years. It has never let me down. I am the 2nd owner. The first owner meticulously maintained this car.I have only put about 10,000 miles on it. I hate to sell it but I needed a truck for my business.
This car still looks great for being 10 years old. It's loaded with options. It has a few dings and scuffs, but nothing out of the ordinary for a 10 year old car. Looking at it and driving it would make you think it has less than 100k. it is tight and doesn't drive like 170k. Props to the 1st owner for great up keep and service.clean and clear title. Original paint, No accidents, car fax certified. I will list the obvious flaws so that out of state bidders feel comfortable bidding without seeing and driving it. drivers side mirror operates normal, but had a broken piece of plastic at some point in its life. It has a piece of tape on it and has been their since I bought it. periodically the check engine light comes on. it does not affect the driveablility. Its usually something silly like a loose gas cap and it goes away next fill up. There are a couple of imperfections on the leather of the drivers seat only. One tear right on the seam and minor aging and wrinkling. missing 1 center cap on ally wheel. less than 10 bucks. I have tried to describe the car as well as I can, I don't think anyone will be disappointed at its condition. I photographed many of its imperfections so you could see. I just put brand new tires on. There is less than a thousand miles on them. Over $500 right there. I wasn't intending to sell it, so I had a set put on a couple of months ago. It also has a brand new windshield because of a rock chip that spread. I replaced it instead of having it repaired. I need to sell right away so please act quickly. I am marketing the car locally for 4500 but I am putting on Ebay with No Reserve to make sure it is sold quickly. Thanks for your interest and good luck bidding. |

2015 VW Golf R caught getting a flogging on 'Ring
Wed, 22 May 2013The upcoming version of the Volkswagen Golf R is nearly ready for prime time, if this video of the car flying around the Nürburgring is any indication. The all-wheel-drive R seems to make quick, neat work of the corners we see here, and sounds pretty devilish in the process.
Expectations are that the new Golf R will run a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder (what else?), tuned to produce even more than the current car's 256 horsepower. (Some sources have indicated outputs as high as 286 horsepower, with 280 pound-feet of torque. It's still not clear if Volkswagen will bring the six-speed dual-clutch transmission to the US-spec Golf R in this next go-round or if we'll stick to having only... eh... the stick.
In either case - watching the video below will only whet your appetite for the new, highest performing member of the Golf family.
Volkswagen Golf, Ford F-150 named 2015 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year
Mon, Jan 12 2015Congratulations, Volkswagen Golf/GTI and Ford F-150. You've just been named the 2015 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year, kicking off the first press day of the Detroit Auto Show. The Golf faced some seriously stiff competition from its runners-up, the Ford Mustang and Hyundai Genesis. But the Golf has been a highly awarded vehicle since its launch, including recently being named Motor Trend's Car of the Year. As for the Truck/Utility award, it wasn't immediately clear that the aluminum-bodied Ford F-150 would win the North American honor, topping the Chevrolet Colorado and Lincoln MKC. The Chevy, after all, has been widely praised since arriving this fall, including taking home MT's Truck of the Year award. In 2014, Chevrolet had a sweep of the NACTOY awards, with the Corvette Stingray and Silverado taking top honors. Here's a look at the 2015 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year voting breakdown. As you can see, it wasn't exactly neck and neck. Car of the Year Volkswagen Golf/GTI – 256 points Ford Mustang – 204 points Hyundai Genesis – 110 points Truck/Utility of the Year Ford F-150 – 297 points Chevrolet Colorado – 205 points Lincoln MKC – 68 points The winners were determined by the votes of 57 North American jurors who work in all forms of media – magazine, newspaper, television, online and radio, and their ballots were tabulated in secret by accounting firm Deloitte & Touche. Autoblog editors Sharon Carty and Chris Paukert are members of the North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year jury. VW adding particulate filters to gas engines
Wed, Aug 3 2016Volkswagen is working hard to overcome the PR disaster that is its diesel emissions scandal, and part of its efforts is focusing, weirdly, on petrol engines. Starting in June 2017, the embattled German automaker will add particulate filters to the gas-powered Volkswagen Tiguan and Audi A5. The change will eventually impact nearly every direct-injected gas engine the VW Group makes. Audi? Particulate filter. Seat? Particulate filter. Even Bentley is going to get the tech, all in a bid to reduce soot emissions by 90 percent. In fact, by 2022 VAG expects 7 million of its vehicles to boast the emissions-cleaning tech, which has long been a fixture on diesel engines. "Following increases in efficiency and lower CO2 output, we are now bringing about a sustained reduction in the emission levels of our modern petrol engines by fitting particulate filters as standard," Volkswagen Group research and design boss Dr. Ulrich Eichhorn said in a statement. "In the future, all models will be equipped with the latest and most efficient SCR catalytic converter technology." VW's initial rollout focuses on the 1.4-liter, turbocharged Tiguan and the 2.0-liter, turbocharged A5. Considering the popularity of the 2.0-liter across the VW range, we'd expect it's only a matter of time before VW expands its particulate filters tech to additional gas-powered vehicles.
