The good:

NO RESERVE!

Fast and handles very well.  Racing springs (lowered), upgraded struts and sway bar, Magnaflow exhaust, cold air intake, front mounted intercooler, GLI front seats, turbo boost has been increased.  Runs and drives.  After market stereo has aux in for iPod. Timing belt has been changed. Battery, rims and tires are fairly new.  Some maintenance records, not all.  Wiring run for external amp and sub in the trunk.  Front windows professionally tinted legal (back and rear by amateur one past legal).

The bad:

See pics.  Body, paint and interior are rough.  Front bumper and grill are missing (fell off and lost).  Windshield is cracked.  Water got in trunk and interior because sun roof left open, and it stinks inside (moldy/musty).  Glove compartment latch broken.  Center console arm rest broken.  hydraulic arms that hold the hood open are broken. Filthy inside and out.

I am not the original owner.  The previous owner did all the mods to the car.  It is possible that water only got in the trunk because the drain holes were clogged with leaves, but it stinks in the cabin as well so I believe the sunroof was left open during at least one heavy rain.  Please look at the pictures carefully.  If you want a picture of some particular part or area of the vehicle please ask BEFORE you bid.  It was rear ended before I bought it, and has been side swiped on the driver's front fender while my son was driving it.  It was aligned when I got new tires and rims with no problems.  I've done a bunch of work within the last two years like replace plugs and coil caps, valve cover gasket, fixed a/c, alignment, tires, wheels, timing belt, and battery.

There is absolutely no warranty with this vehicle.  I haven't driven it in about 2 years as my son had it.  The title is clear.  Buyer assumes all responsibility for any needed repairs or maintenance.  I'll describe as accurately as possible and provide any records I have. Actual mileage is 106,392.

AS IS! FINAL SALE! Local pick up or you TOTALLY arrange for pick up and shipping. AS IS!  Ask any questions BEFORE you bid.

FINAL SALE AND NO RESERVE!

Please only make a bid if you are serious.  All inspections must be done prior to auction end.  It is the responsibility of the buyer to register the car.
Winning bidder must contact me within 24 hours of auction end, and make arrangements for payment at that time.  If no contact is made within 24 hours I reserve the right to re-list the vehicle, sell it to the next high bidder, or sell it otherwise.

Watch the VW E-Golf get made

Fri, Jun 13 2014

If you've ever been on a tour of an automotive factory, you know how mesmerizing it can be to see humans and robots work together to build our four-wheeled friends. The swift automation, the cleanliness, the trained hands deftly fitting pieces together and watchful eyes inspecting every piece of the car, it's all quite impressive, especially if the vehicle is one you, as an observer, are fond of. Even just seeing a fresh, gleaming badge being applied to immaculately painted sheet metal is enough to curl ones toes. Such is the case with this video from of the E-Golf being pieced together in the Volkswagen's Wolfsburg plant. There's no narration or music - just the sounds of production - so it's easy to follow the singular motions that go into the process without distraction, with a slight sense of actually being on the floor. This solo video is only seven minutes long, so it's not quite the epic that was the BMW i3 production series. Therefore, we miss a lot of the initial build, such as pressing the sheet metal, painting, and putting together a lot of the inner workings. What is refreshing to see is how much of the final touches of the electric Golf are done by hand using actual hand tools (and with typical German efficiency). There's even a person riding a bicycle through the factory at one point, which is common at Wolfsburg and also rather quaint. Enjoy the video below, and if you have a suggestion for a good soundtrack to go along with it, sound off in the comments. This content is hosted by a third party. Volkswagen Golf Variant will make a lovely Jetta SportWagen

Tue, 05 Mar 2013

In addition to several other versions of the Golf, Volkswagen is debuting the new Golf Variant (read: wagon) here at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. And if this bigger version of the Golf looks like it might fit right at home in the States, it's because we could possibly see some version of this car as the next-generation Jetta SportWagen here on our shores.
Volkswagen is debuting the Golf Variant with two efficient diesel engines, rated at 110 and 150 horsepower, the smaller of which is good for an impressive 71.3 miles per gallon on the European cycle (when mated to a six-speed manual transmission). The Golf Variant also gets a version of Volkswagen's 4Motion all-wheel-drive system, making it incredibly all-weather capable.
It's a handsome estate, and it wears the new Golf's design language well. We can't say for sure if this car will actually make its way Stateside, but given the fact that the current Jetta SportWagen still rides on the old Golf platform, the odds look to be in our favor.
