There is a picture that shows this. Should be able to buff it out, I would think. It is hardly noticeable."

Positives:

Vehicle is very dependable and has no mechanical issues.  We have had the local VW dealer in Springfield maintain it for us, since we have owned the car.  We have all the service records on it, while we have owned the vehicle.

It has a couple of fairly new tires on it.  The other two tires have about 50% tread life left.

It passed Missouri state vehicle inspection without any issues.

We put a brand new VW factory transmission in it early this summer.  It had some slippage issues in the gears, so I opted to have the VW dealership put a new transmission in.

Recently tinted all the windows.

Just had new brakes put on the front.

Just had turbo injectors replaced.

Gets great gas mileage.

Changed oil regularly.

Negatives:

Has standard wear and tear for this old of a vehicle, but I think still looks fairly good.

Some small dings and nicks in the paint.

Observable surface scratch on drivers side door, that is hardly noticeable.

I planned on keeping this vehicle forever, but have to sell it for financial reasons.

I know that I will take a loss on it, based on the money that I have put in to it since I bought it.  I put $5,000 in the transmission alone.

Recommend:

I would recommend that you come drive this vehicle if you can.  It is a great car.  It has an Oklahoma tag.  We have recently moved to Missouri from Oklahoma, hence its location near Branson Missouri.

I can send more pictures if you would like.  Just send me your email address.

VW announces recall of 26,000 2014 models with 1.8T engines

Tue, 22 Apr 2014

Volkswagen has followed up on a stop-sale order from earlier this month, announcing a voluntarily recall of 26,400 vehicles that are powered by the brand's 1.8-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The new mill replaced the despised 2.5-liter five-cylinder in the Jetta, Passat, Beetle and Beetle Convertible last year. Weirdly, though, of the 26,452 units covered in the recall, only 1,655 are customer vehicles.
According to VW, the affected models were built between February 1 and April 6 of this year, and feature bad O-ring seals in the transmission oil cooler. Apparently, the faulty O-rings could cause a fluid leak, as they won't seal between the oil cooler and transmission. VW is blaming a material change from a supplier for the problem.
There have been no fires, injuries, accidents or fatalities relating to this issue, which VW will be fixing free of charge. Customers will need to report to dealers to have the O-rings replaced.

VW Up Buggy may be headed to showrooms

Tue, 02 Jul 2013

Volkswagen showed six conceptual takes on its Up at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, one of those being the Up Buggy. Although few will probably remember it, VW has not forgotten it, applying for a patent for the Meyers Manx revival roadster way back in March 2012 and being approved in June of this year, according to a report in Autocar. That will give the automaker a 14-year lock on the design while it decides whether to move forward with a reboot of its past.
A patent doesn't mean the Up Buggy will ever move beyond the sheet-of-paper stage, but Autocar says VW is studying the market to see if a production version is feasible. We can't see North America ever getting it, but even so, we wouldn't complain if they made it - especially if they put an exposed engine in back that was set off by 18-inch-long twin tailpipes jutting straight up into the air. However, for a company that aims to be the world's number-one automaker by 2018, a niche vehicle for its mass-market brand would be a surprising use of resources.

VW Golf GTI wrung out by Chris Harris

Thu, 27 Jun 2013

Enthusiasts like nothing more than to crucify modern interpretations of their favorite performance models for failing to live up to some imagined ethos. Even the Volkswagen GTI has suffered its fair share of slings and arrows for growing in size and curb weight. Chris Harris recently spent some time with the all-new MK VII GTI to find out if growing up means giving up on what makes the machine so special.
Judging by his comments, Harris certainly doesn't think so. Yes, the new GTI is considerably more comfortable than its predecessors, but that's hardly a bad thing. The multitude of driving modes actually seem to add depth to the car rather than simply try to force one tool to do many jobs, and Harris even finds the machine's electronic power steering tolerable. As a result, Harris goes so far as to call the Volkswagen GTI "one of the best cars to actually own." How's that for high praise? You can watch the video for yourself by scrolling below.
