1998 VW MK3 Diesel TDI Jetta.  Great bio diesel or grease car project, or run on regular diesel and enjoy almost 50 mpg.  I currently drive another TDI and I purchased this car to build as a project for bio-diesel but have had no time to work on it, so need to get it out of the yard.  Starts & runs in cold weather, I do not have any records of when the timing belt was last changed so I had planned to replace it.  I have the new belt, rollers, tensioner, and a new water pump which will be included w/ the car.

Front brakes have brand new pads & rotors, rear brakes were good when inspected so I did not replace.  Glow plug harness was replaced which cured a difficult starting issue and check engine light for glow plug fault.

Known issues:  Electric sunroof does not operate, it is closed currently but unable to open it with power.  Both power rear windows do not open, this is a common VW failure item.  I have 2 new window regulators which will be included with the car, just haven't had time to install.  Both front power windows seem to work fine.  Muffler should be replaced, not currently leaking but the outer skin is peeling off.  The rest of the exhaust system looks solid.  Paint clearcoat is peeling on the roof, this is another common VW issue.  No rust and black paint underneath is ok, just peeling clearcoat.  The rest of the paint is what would be expected for a 1998.

Any questions feel free to email and I'll answer the best I can.  Thanks for looking.

VW TDI ads star four 'salty' ladies and a stinky dog named Tuna

Sun, Mar 22 2015

The Kim Kardashian sex tape just keeps on giving: it brought the Three Golden Sisters to our attention, and now Volkswagen has used their comedic, Bronx grandmother schtick to promote its TDI engines. The ads are another round in the fight against the malicious perceptions of diesel – like how they're slow and loud (they aren't), that it's hard to find a station to refill (it isn't), and that they stink (they don't). Tanner Foust makes an appearance in one spot to dispel the notion of sluggishness, and Tuna the Dastardly Dog proves that she (or he?) can outstink a diesel any day. You'll find Tuna in the ad above, the other three ads are below. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Volkswagen iBeetle gets integrated iPhone dock, little else

Fri, 19 Apr 2013

Apple fans have been itching to see the tech giant flex the full muscle of its iOS operating system in an automotive infotainment system for years, which is why we turned all sorts of excited when we caught wind of the Volkswagen iBeetle. The machine is headed to the Shanghai Motor Show for a debut, and VW promised it would be one of the "first cars in the world to have a genuine integrative interface for the iPhone that was coordinated with Apple." Listen closely, and you can hear the contented sigh of a million wallets opening.
Go ahead and close those up, kids.
In reality, the iBeetle offers little more than a dash-mounted dock and a special app that shows a few vehicle functions, which is about as far from an infotainment revolution as you're likely to find. In fact, the setup is little more than a factory rehash of aftermarket items, and hardly worth a whole model debut at an international motor show. And that's to say nothing of the fact that Apple relishes in changing the shape and form of its darling handheld at every generation. Volkswagen better be prepared to keep pace with appropriate docking mechanisms for the upcoming iPhone 5S, 6, 6S, et al.
