1981 Vw Rabbit Diesel With New 1.9 N/a Engine, Very Clean, No Rust, 45 Mpg on 2040-cars
Woodburn, Oregon, United States
Up for auction today is a 1981 VW Rabbit Diesel. This Rabbit has a new 1.9 Diesel engine. The long block is new from a builder out of Germany. The long block alone was over $3000. The new engine has only 3000 miles on it, and it runs pefect. The injection pump was rebuilt about 10k miles ago, with the alternator, and new battery. Radiator, water pump, and exhaust are also all new with the motor. One CV shaft was rebuilt, and motor mounts replaced. The brakes, are new, front and rear, shocks are about 3 years old, and the alignment was done 6 months ago. Tires are 95% good. All electrical works great. New headliner just put in on 3/7/14. Carpets look ok, no real holes, just some small stains here and there. Drivers seat is starting to show its age (See picture). Dash has some cracks. Paint on the car is in surprisingly good condition for the age, though its not perfect. Car has some small dents (See pictures) and ding here and there. Over all this is a very nice car that has a ton of money put into it. I have built a few of these Rabbits down through the years, and this one is one of the cleanest I have seen that is still mostly stock. This will make for a great car for the right person who wants great MPG, and amazing reliability. I have seen these cars with 500K or better.
If you are a bidder from out of state and wish to have the car shipped I will deliver the car with in 30 miles of Oregon 97071, or if you wish to fly in and drive it home, I can pick you up at Portland PDX and bring you to the car. I am listing the car locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. If you are local and wish to come see the car, and test drive it, or if you would like to make a offer, you can call Me at 619-243-0955 and I am Joshua. Please note the car is sold as is, no warranty. Thank you and happy bidding. On Mar-12-14 at 23:04:09 PDT, seller added the following information: The car is rust free from what I can see, and I have looked. |

Volkswagen Cross Coupe GTE is a sleek take on brand's future CUV
Tue, Jan 13 2015Volkswagen continues its long tease leading up to an eventual US-built, seven-passenger, three-row crossover with the Cross Coupe GTE at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. While it's still affixed with the tinsel of a concept car, there are a lot of details that will arrive on VW's eventual production crossover. The wheelbase of the GTE is said to be identical to the production model, although this five-passenger CUV is actually about a foot shorter overall, Volkswagen's chief of design, Klaus Bischoff, told Autoblog. The overall shape of the GTE's greenhouse, meanwhile, will also be very similar to the car that'll come to market, although more progressive from the C-pillar forward (that's right kids, that sexy sloping rear end isn't for production). Despite the aggressive rake, a peek in the GTE's trunk revealed room for the CUV's third row. Beyond hinting at a new addition to the company's lineup, the GTE also gives us a look at future Volkswagen design, including the use of four-element LED running lamps. Body lines will be as sharp as is feasible. Look for the production version of Volkswagen's seven-passenger SUV at the end of next year. Until then, check out the two-row concept, courtesy of our live images from the 2015 Detroit Auto Show.
Next VW GTI to get 10-speed dual-clutch gearbox
Wed, Nov 26 2014Following on Volkswagen's official announcement that it was working on a ten-speed, dual-clutch transmission, Auto Express has it on "good authority" that the new transmission will end up in the next GTI, GTD and Golf R. The brand's current seven-speed will be retained for lesser eight-generation Golfs. While the new gearbox won't be limited to just the higher-end Golf range, the new hatchback, expected in 2017, will be the first to get it, Auto Express reports. The new DSG is the same size as the Volkswagen Group's seven-speed dual-clutch, and will easily fit into VAG's MQB platform, so we should expect it to filter into the rest of the Group's vehicles, much like the seven-speed 'box has. The ten-speed is likely to see applications beyond even the small cars of the MQB platform. The gearbox can handle 405 pound-feet of torque, according to AE, making its application in larger offerings such as the gas-powered MLB cars and crossovers a likelihood. Beyond the new gearbox, Volkswagen is also toying with mild-hybrid tech for the standard Golf and better batteries for the e-Golf. As we said, expect the new Golf to arrive in European markets in 2017, with the current Euro-market Golf getting updated next year. As for the US, we wouldn't be surprised if VW followed the trail blazed by the Mark 7, with a North American arrival for the eight-gem Golf slated for a year or so after sales in Europe begin.
VW boss confirms Subaru-aping Golf Alltrack for US
Fri, Nov 21 2014Subaru needs to watch out, because the Japanese brand with a utilitarian image has a big bull's eye on its back. Not only is Acura considering going 100-percent all-wheel drive in a bid to mimic the successful automaker, Volkswagen has just confirmed that the Golf Alltrack is coming to the US as another competitor for Subaru's popular Outback crossover. Volkswagen Group of America CEO Michael Horn has confirmed the addition of the higher-riding, all-wheel drive version of the Golf SportWagen to Automotive News, indicating that the model will arrive in the US in 2016. "That's what our dealers, our customers, are asking us for," he said to the industry publication. The Golf Alltrack, which debuted at the Paris Motor Show in early October, has an extra 0.75 inches of ride height and protective black cladding all the way around. Its biggest mechanical differentiator from other Golfs is its Haldex all-wheel drive system, a setup that can completely unhook from the rear axle when not needed to save fuel. In Europe, the Alltrack is available with a turbocharged 1.8-liter with 178 horsepower and two diesels offering between 109hp and 182 hp. However, Horn made no mention of likely powertrains for the US. Horn tells Automotive News that all-wheel drive tooling is currently being installed at the Puebla, Mexico, factory where the standard Golf Sportwagen is built. VW might have tipped its hand about this possibility several months ago when press shots of the wagon were released for the US with TDI and 4Motion badges. Horn says he expects even the front-wheel drive version to be a sales hit here, suggesting it may eventually account for 50 percent of the Golf range's volume.
