No mecanical problems with car"

I am selling this car because I no longer drive far to work. I have owned it sense September of 07. The car runs and drives great with  no mechanical issues and I have all maint records from 07 to present. It had the timing belt, water pump, tensioner, cam seal, and all pulleys, rear brake calipers pads and rotors replaced 15k ago. The egr cooler is deleted along with the egr valve and exhaust port blocked off, the check engine light comes on and off intermittently because of this. It has stainless intercooler tubing instead of the original plastic The dash is in metric because it was orignaly purchased in Canada but the odometer reads in miles. The michelin tires have 120k on them from freeway driving and are worn evenly. The interior is in good shape except for one hinge on the glove box(still works fine), cup holder is broken, rear ash tray borken, broken hinge on arm rest lid. The front left fender had ben painted before I got it and the body has small scratches hear and their but in good shape overall for the year and miles.  Non smoker. Has keyless entry, plower windows, locks, heated seats(drivers side does not work), rear defrost, ac, cruse, tilt, power mirrors. I have always used vw antifreeze and Amsoil full synthetic oils in the engine and transmission. The best fuel economy it ever got was 52mpg and the worst was 45mpg with me driving it.Feel free to contact me with any questions. 740-572-1873

VW invests in QuantumScape for potentially fireproof, long-range EV batteries

Mon, Dec 8 2014

VW might be getting ready to push its plug-in technology in a big way thanks to an investment in the battery startup QuantumScape. Key point: the solid-state battery is said to be fireproof and will offer tremendous range advantages. Details are not abundant yet, but according to Bloomberg, VW of America bought a five-percent stake in QuantumScape (and has an option to raise its holding). The tech could "more than triple" the EV range of VW, Porsche and Audi plug-in vehicles as soon as the middle of 2015, according to unnamed sources that Bloomberg talked to. Former Stanford University researchers started QuantumScape in 2010. The bare-bones QuantumScape website (there's nothing there other than some contact information) doesn't offer many hints about what's happening at the company, but GigaOM's Katie Fehrenbacher notes that QuantumScape is licensing tech from the "All Electron Battery" project at Stanford a few years ago. It certainly sounds amazing: [It's] a completely new class of electrical energy storage devices for electric vehicles that has the potential to provide ultra-high energy and power densities, while enabling extremely high cycle life. The All-Electron Battery stores energy by moving electrons, rather than ions, and uses electron/hole redox instead of capacitive polarization of a double-layer. ... If successful, this project will develop a completely new paradigm in energy storage for electrified vehicles that could revolutionize the electric vehicle industry. If that's what's coming in a future e-Golf or E-Tron, sign us up.

UAW angered over VW workers getting right to defend anti-union vote

Thu, 13 Mar 2014

The United Auto Workers have called a decision by the National Labor Relations Board allowing anti-UAW employees at the Volkswagen factory in Chattanooga the right to defend voting down unionization at the plant "an outrage."
You'll recall that the union was defeated by a vote of 712 to 626 in a contentious February election. The UAW claims the outcome was unfairly swayed by pro-business, anti-union forces, including Senator Bob Corker and political advocate Grover Norquist.
This new decision by the NLRB essentially gives workers backed by the anti-UAW National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation and Southern Momentum a formal voice in the impending hearing on the UAW's appeal of the vote.

US-spec 2015 Volkswagen Golf and GTI to finally debut in New York

Tue, 12 Mar 2013

The seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf is hardly new to us. In fact, we've already driven it. And elsewhere in the world, the new Golf is already winning awards. Even so, we still have yet to see the US-spec version of the car, though that won't be the case much longer. As part of the New York Auto Show festivities later this month, Volkswagen will finally show off the 2015 Golf models destined for our shores.
Three different versions of the Golf will debut under the lights of New York City's Javits Center: the turbocharged TSI, oil-sipping TDI and hotter GTI. The first model in that list uses Volkswagen's new 1.8-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine, replacing the outgoing 2.5-liter naturally aspirated inline five-cylinder. The latter two models use familiar engines: the 2.0-liter TDI diesel and 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, respectively.
Even though the new Golf officially debuts later this month, it won't go on sale in the US until the first quarter of 2014. We'll be waiting patiently.
