You are biding to purchase a 1996 Volkswagen Golf GL 5 door hatchback that has been driven on average less than 2,200 miles per year, far less than 15,000 the industry average. These miles are confirmed thru Car Fax,Auto Check, the prior owner and without question the very nice condition of the vehicle. These are the kind of miles you would normally find on very pricey 2011 and 2012 models but hardly ever on a 1996.

                          ****************************************

In these difficult economic times and with the price of fuel steadily climbing we feel the fairest way to sell this vehicle is to let you the buyer set the price, yes you. After all isn't that the best way to buy,you price it?

                          **************************************

The Volkswagen Golf is a compact car produced by the German manufacturer since 1974 across 7 generations. They have a steller reputation for generous fuel mileage (19mpg city/26 mpg highway), above average safety ratings, reliability and the lowest cost of ownership in their class.Just plain good value for the dollar. They have been saving their owners many dollars over many years and continue to  do so today.

                           ************************************

We find this little VW clean from front to rear with minimal cosmetic imperfections (EG: dings, dimples scuffs ect.) We see no corrosion on the doors, fenders, pannels or undercarriage. All lenses, trim and moldings are clean and straight. The original factory finish (suede silver metallic) still has that new car luster (obviously this vehicle has spent much of it's time garaged). The windshield is clear and clean showing no stone bruises, cracks or wiper mar. There are a very fresh looking sel of all season steel-belted radials riding on the original factory rims with all wheel covers present and the unused spare and all jacking hardware stowed properly. The interior is as neat and tidy as one would ever expect to find on any vehicle of this vintage. The dash shows no sun fade or degradation, the original headliner is clean and tight with no evidence of any water leakage from the sunroof. The upholstery and carpeting show no signs of abuse or neglect with very little wear, without question very well looked after.

                                **************************************

After acquiring this vehicle we took it directly to our certified tech who has been with us over 25 years.Atfer a 1 hour road test at speeds to 65 mph and some routine service checks he had nothing but compliments saying ''that is a sweatheart''.The well proven 2.0l EFI four cylinder engine fires to life with the click of the key.We see no oil leaks or smoke around the block or from the exhaust. On the drive the acceleration is strong, the front end is tight and pleasing with no errant axle noises (as is sometimes the case with front wheel drive vehicles),the automatic transmission shifts on point thru the gears and the brakes stop the vehicle confidently with no pull or shudder. The air conditioner works quietly producing excellent cooling. There has recently been a very nice am-fm /cd player tastefully and professionally installed. We see no issues with the heat, defrost, power door locks, power sunroof or safety equipment. In our op[inion this little ''gas mizer'' has been very well maintained and is sure to serve it's next lucky owner with many miles and many years of trouble free service.

                                       *********************************

Whether you need a reliable little commuter or a great starter car for that new driver in the family that won't break the bank this little gem is certainly worth a look. Please keep in mind vehicles of this vintage in this condition with these kind of miles are few and far between and are rarely found on a ''no reserve'' auction but are normally passed down by a senior family member.Bid early, bid often and above all bid to win,you have found that ''needle in the hay stack''. This little beauty awaits the last bider.Someone out there is going to win this vehicle for a more than reasonable price, why not you? As always you are welcome to come take a look, listen or drive prior to biding and we encourage this.We are just west of Annapolis,Maryland, zip code 21061.To out of town winner we offer free shuttle service from Baltimore's BWI airport or Am track rail station.Any questions or concerns please e-mail or call Tom or Mike @ 410-207-2168.

VW redoes A-ha's 'Take On Me' music video

Wed, 18 Sep 2013

Volkswagen has been responsible for its fair share of witty, clever commercials. "Tiny Vader" might be the most popular, but somehow, we think this newest spot will find a big audience. VW delivers not so much a cover, but a reimagining, of 1980s Norwegian pop band A-ha's famous music video for "Take On Me."
The original opens with an animated motorcycle race, which is revealed to be part of a comic book. VW's version replaces the motorcycle with a Passat, which strikes us as an oddly sober choice when there are cars like the GTI and Beetle in VW's portfolio. But never mind that - take a look down below for the entire 46-second spot. For reference, we've also included the original music video. And if you aren't a fan of the musical stylings of A-ha, just think, VW's choice of 1980s music could have been much worse.

VW budget sub-brand stuck in limbo over VW standards, costs

Sun, Mar 2 2014

Reports in October 2012 claimed Volkswagen had begun investigating the creation of its own budget brand. This came after having failed to purchase Malaysian car company Proton or produce a meaningful partnership with Suzuki, and after watching Renault-Nissan make piles of euro on Dacia and plot the return of Datsun. For VW, more important than the question of what to call it was how to build it profitably and in a way that didn't damage the VW brand. According to a report in Autocar, a satisfactory answer still hasn't been found. The hurdle is how to hit "'necessary' quality and safety levels" at the price points needed to make the venture worthwhile. At the time of the 2012 report, German outlet Der Spiegel said VW was trying to get prices down to 6,000 to 8,000 euro ($7,784 to $10,379 US), about two thousand to four thousand euro under the price of the VW Up and in line with the cost of a 6,790-euro Dacia Sandero in Germany. In March 2013, VW announced, "We want to bring a true budget car to the market in China in the foreseeable future," the most concrete move in that direction after years of planning to make a decision. Working with local Chinese maker FAW, it was predicted that the vehicle in question would appear around 2016, but as of November last year a final vote on it needed to wait until this year because "We are still working on the cost side" and profit possibilities for a car that "has to be durable, it has to be precise, it has to be safe." Even Fiat, another automaker long considering a budget brand beneath its Fiat line-up, wasn't sure how to squeeze any extra money from lower-cost products but was sure that it couldn't be done by manufacturing in Europe. If VW hasn't yet made the math work with a joint venture in China, it will be interesting to see how it might build a European go-it-alone business case.
