It drives straight, pulls and stops hard. The car is in the highest available trim level - Autobahn. Hatchback 2-door with 6-speed manual. All of the car's technical systems work - no warnings on the cluster, check engine lights, airbag lights etc. Car will come with a set of weather mats, set of keys and original owner's books. This is the perfect opportunity to purchase a like new VW GTI Autobahn thousands of dollars below the market price. The car is fully loaded - new it costs over $30k!

If you would like to see a copy of the title or receipts feel free to ask and I can send them to you by text or email. The car had the right fender and right door replaced - I supervised the work myself and made sure that the paint was matched perfectly. The car has been fixed to factory specifications and I made sure it was fixed properly before it was painted (can provide pictures). After the car was done, the oil was changed and all the system have been cleared by a certified Volkswagen technician at Gunther VW.  Vehicle has already been state inspected and the DMV has issued the Rebuilt title - it is just as good as a clean title but with salvage history, allowing the car to be registered anywhere in the US or CANADA.

I encourage getting the car inspected before you bid either personally or by a professional. I am confident in the condition of the car because I care for every detail. I have over 40 years of experience working with cars. Every function of the car works as it has been designed to. I can vouch that this is a great car given this is my fourth GTI! This car is being sold as is, where is. Buyer covers any transportation costs, but I can help the buyer organize it as well. Any sale within the state of Florida will add a charge of $150 for title transfer - does not apply to out of state sales.  $500 nonrefundable deposit 24-hours after the auction ends. Full payment within 5 days.  I reserve myself the right to end the auction if the car sells locally.

VW modular platform strategy goes all-in on EVs

Tue, Jan 7 2014

The Volkswagen Group has already revealed or put on sale a broad slate of new electric vehicles: the E-up, the E-Golf (shown above), the Porsche 918 Spyder, the Panamera S E-Hybrid and the XL1. In 2014, there will be at least six more models, including the A3 Sportback E-Tron. And after that? Well, to hear Rudolf Krebs, Group Commissioner For Electric Vehicle Drive Systems, tell it, VW's future is full of plug-in goodness. "With our platform strategy, it is quite easy to bring a lot of electrified vehicles to the market for the different brands in a very short time," he said. "We try, with a minimum of those components, to produce a maximum number of variants of cars" That strategy starts with three platforms: MQB for small cars, MLB for midsize models and MSB for sporty and premium products (there's also the NSF for cars like the E-up). Speaking to AutoblogGreen, Krebs said VW has designed modules, things like engines and electric components (think: AC compressor, on-board chargers and battery management systems), to be used across all three platforms and across all brands all. "We try, with a minimum of those components, to produce a maximum number of variants of cars," he said. "This is only possible if, at an early stage of the design of new vehicles, we implement the idea that these cars are not only designed for gasoline and diesel powertrains but that we can also include CNG concepts, flex-fuel concepts, pure electric vehicles or plug-in hybrid vehicles. With minor changes in the body in white, we can produce those vehicles, bumper-to-bumper, in one factory." "VW wants to be the leader in the electrification of vehicles" In this way, customers can choose the powertrain that they want, or whatever powertrain their local regulations demand. Politicians have already put a lot of pressure on the automotive industry, with ever-stricter CO2 regulations coming into effect in all of the major markets. In the US, the fuel economy regulation numbers require the equivalent of 101 grams of CO2 emissions per kilometer by 2025. Europe, it's 95 grams by 2020. And China, which is asking for 118 grams by 2020, will be a tough scenario, Krebs said. Today, by optimizing conventional technologies and supporting things like CNG and biofuels, more than 300 VW Group models emit less than 120 g/km. A hundred of those are even under 100 g/km. But this is not sufficient, and VW admits that conventional powertrains will not be not enough.

2015 VW Golf R caught getting a flogging on 'Ring

Wed, 22 May 2013

The upcoming version of the Volkswagen Golf R is nearly ready for prime time, if this video of the car flying around the Nürburgring is any indication. The all-wheel-drive R seems to make quick, neat work of the corners we see here, and sounds pretty devilish in the process.
Expectations are that the new Golf R will run a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder (what else?), tuned to produce even more than the current car's 256 horsepower. (Some sources have indicated outputs as high as 286 horsepower, with 280 pound-feet of torque. It's still not clear if Volkswagen will bring the six-speed dual-clutch transmission to the US-spec Golf R in this next go-round or if we'll stick to having only... eh... the stick.
In either case - watching the video below will only whet your appetite for the new, highest performing member of the Golf family.
