2010 VW GTI, 4 Door with DSG (dual clutch) transmission. 6 Disc stereo that will also attach / control your iPod. There is an Aux-in (3.5mm) jack as well as bluetooth phone and bluetooth audio streaming. I bought this car in California as a Certified Pre-Owned car 3 years ago. The CPO warranty is transferrable and goes to 60k miles. When I was looking for GTIs to buy, I was convinced I needed the 6MT variant, but then I drove the DSG and the rest was history. This transmission is brilliant--I've never had a car shift so quickly and smoothly. With the paddle shifters and sport steering wheel, the car is a ton of fun to drive. The title is clean and clear, in-hand. I have NEVER had a problem with this car except for a window switch that got stuck (my own doing). It has been flawless and was even on the cover of Consumer Reports in 2010. The car is up to date on major services and just had the oil changed about a month ago. The service interval on oil changes is 10K so the new owner is set for a while. No accidents or paint work. The car does have a couple of door dings (I have kids) and the wheels have some rash (I have a wife); otherwise, it's in great shape. I just put a K&N filter in recently and upgraded the engine coils from the stock parts to Audi R8 coils because they're far better. The tires are Falken ZIEX all season tires that've been siped for better winter traction. I have an extra set of summer wheels (Audi 6-spoke) and tires if you're interested. I'll throw those in for free but you might have a hard time getting them home--I don't think they'll fit in the car. TWO MORE "EXTRAS": 1. APR tuned. . . there are 4 different modes to pick from. Stock tune, 91 Octane (about 260HP), 93 Octane (about 290HP) and 100 Octane (over 300HP). You can pick among these tunes by pushing the buttons on the cruise control stalk. There are no added parts or controllers to worry about--the upgrade is seamless and brilliant. It was truly the best upgrade money I've ever spent and is entirely safe for the engine, transmission, etc. 2. Currently there is a 12" Cerwin Vega sub and amp in the trunk. The subwoofer box is easily removable (about 10 seconds) so you can have more storage space in the back. Or, I'm happy to just pull the gear out before you take delivery. Keeping this stereo set-up is your choice. Lastly, the car has the all weather honeycomb floor mats that show some signs of wear; however, I have a set set of carpeted mats BRAND NEW, IN THE PACKAGE, that come with the car. Skoda plans big investment into electric cars as part of rebound effort
Wed, Mar 24 2021PRAGUE — Czech carmaker Skoda, part of the Volkswagen Group, said on Wednesday it would invest around 2.5 billion euros over the next five years on future technologies, with more than half going to electric vehicle investment. The Czech Republic's largest exporter is hoping for a rebound in 2021 from a global car sales drop but faces uncertainty over the coronavirus pandemic and a semiconductor shortage rattling the industry. "This year is likely to be another big challenge," finance director Klaus-Dieter Schuermann said. "We expect Skoda Auto's group performance to improve, with sales revenue significantly above the level of last year." Skoda reported on Wednesday a 54.5% drop in 2020 operating to 756 million euros ($894 million). Sales revenue dropped 13.8% to 17.1 billion euros. Global deliveries remained above 1 million cars for a seventh straight year despite a 19% drop after production outages at the outset of the pandemic and a fall in China, its biggest single market. Chief Executive Thomas Shaefer said the car company was managing the semiconductor shortage "but it will follow us for awhile" and the impact was not visible yet. Skoda's core market in Europe would be electric in the future, Shaefer said, although it was still not time to completely switch away from traditional models, which include the launch last year of a new generation of its flagship Octavia model. It has also started production of the all-electric Enyaq iV model, which is a version of Volkswagen's ID.4. Skoda plans investments of 1.4 billion euros into electromobility development as part of its five-year investment plan. VW confirms development of 10-speed dual clutch, 134-hp/liter diesel
Fri, 26 Apr 2013Each year, the Vienna International Motor Symposium showcases some of the up-and-coming technologies automakers are engineering for the use in passenger cars, and Volkswagen AG CEO Martin Winterkorn revealed some big developments VW is working on for its future products. Winterkorn discussed a multi-faceted approach that VW is looking to reduce its fleet fuel consumption and exhaust emissions.
Some of the bigger news he discussed included a "high-performance" diesel engine that will produce 134 horsepower per liter and a 10-speed DSG automatic transmission. While no specific applications were mentioned, we can only hope this is for the Audi R4 we keep hearing about.
Another topic he touched on that caused us to perk up our ears was had to do with VW's plug-in hybrid technology. While we know the PHEV versions of the Audi A3 and Porsche Panamera are on the way, Winterkorn also said that these two models will be followed up by Golf, Passat, Audi A6 and Porsche Cayenne plug-in models.
