This vehicle is my pride and joy. I purchased this vehicle from a VW/Audi dealer in Newton, NJ a little over 2 years ago. I am the second owner. I will explain this vehicle to the best of my ability and perspective buyers are welcome to inspect the vehicle upon appointment in central NJ.
This is the 2009 MKV Volkswagen GTI. I purchased the vehicle because I needed a daily driver that would be fun to drive, fit my family, and not beat me up on gas. The vehicle has succeeded beyond my wildest dreams. Taking this vehicle to work was simply a joy. It's hard to find a car that's as versatile and fun to drive at the same time.
This vehicle has been maintained and have all records to show. VW recommends oil change every 10k. I have done this every 5K with Castrol Edge 5w-40. Engine is smooth and vehicle starts, runs, and drives perfect as it should.
For the money this vehicle includes things that most cars in it's price range can not compete with.
- Heated seats
- HID adjustable headlamps w/ fog lights
- Ambient lighting
- Air condition glove box
- Sirius radio with ipod input jack
- 10 Speakers
- Automatic speed sensitive wipers
- etc, etc, etc.
The vehicle has had no real issues in the passed. The repairs made in the car are as follows:
- Seat making noise (Fixed under warranty)
- Brake wear sensor malfunction. Replaced with OEM part
Maininence items that have been done include:
- Oil changed every 5k miles
- DSG service completed at 39k
- Fuel filter changed at 39k
- Front brakes have less than 5k (New pads and rotors)
- Rear brakes are BRAND NEW (Still had meat on the pads, just wanted new parts on the vehicle)
- Brake fluid flushed and bled
- Tires have less than 5K on them.
Issues that a buyer may question:
- VIN History shows fleet and/or lease use. This vehicle was a lease return when I purchased it at 19K miles.
- VIN History shows front end collision. The dealer tells me it was a fender bender that was reported to police with no air bag deployment or towing involved.
- There are no TPMS sensors in the wheels. The wheels are from a 2012 GTI which had the TPMS sensors in a different location. They can be purchased and installed if desired. I can also include the factory wheels instead of these but they have curb damage and tires have about 15k on them.
- Smaller than a dime sized ding on the roof from Hurricane Sandy. This was a branch that fell. I do NOT live on the coast or anywhere near water.
- Small chip on shifter bezel. This is a common VW issue and can be fixed easily by it's new owner.
Why you should consider this vehicle over similar GTI's
- All maintenance records are in my possession
- Paint and interior are in VERY GOOD condition. Only high end products used on this car.
- Fuel has only been Shell or Sunoco 93 octane. No cheap gas every used.
- Vehicle is garage kept MOST of the time.
- Transmission still under 10 yr 100k warranty from VW.
- NO mechanical issues. Very quick and fuel efficient vehicle.
- This is a 2009 which includes updated TSI engine. Burns NO oil and has a timing chain instead of a belt on the FSI engine.
Car is priced to sell. I do not want to get rid of it but since I've been driving a company vehicle I have no need for a third car. Price is OBO but please do not waste my or your time with low ball offers or SPAM.

Auction for first US VW e-Golf raises $41,400 for Global Green charity
Thu, Nov 6 2014Would having Jay Leno on hand have changed the outcome? That's what executives at Volkswagen might be asking after the German automaker auctioned off the company's first electric car in the US for around $6,000 over MSRP. VW auctioned off the first Volkswagen e-Golf in the US to raise money for the environmental non-profit Global Green USA. Bruce Oberg, an EV enthusiast and previous VW owner, proudly cut a $41,400 check for the car, which has a 116 miles per gallon-equivalent rating and is said to be able to go about 80 miles on a single charge. At your local dealer (depending on where you live), the e-Golf starts at $35,445. Sales start later this month in 11 states: California, Massachusetts, New York, Vermont, Oregon, Maine, Maryland, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Washington, DC. The $6,000 premium for first-dib rights for the e-Golf is nice, but it doesn't compare to what BMW worked out this summer. In August, the first i8 plug-in hybrid in the US was auctioned off at California's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance for $825,000 (to an unidentified buyer). That's about six times the car's sticker price, but this special edition came with Louis Vuitton luggage and was presented by noted car buff Leno. VW's press release below. VOLKSWAGEN E-GOLF RAISES MONEY TO BENEFIT GLOBAL GREEN USA AFTER A SUCCESSFUL CHARITY AUCTION Nov 4, 2014 Winning bidder claims first VW electric vehicle as the car begins to ship to select U.S. dealerships Herndon, VA (November 4, 2014) – Volkswagen of America, Inc. today announced that the auction of the first 2015 all-electric Volkswagen e-Golf has raised $41,400, with proceeds benefitting the national environmental non-profit Global Green USA and its efforts to advance smart solutions to climate change. The winner of the auction, which ran from October 8–29 on CharityBuzz.com, became the first U.S. driver to own Volkswagen's all-new, fully-electric vehicle. "Volkswagen's commitment to e-mobility and sustainability runs deep. We could not be more proud that the e-Golf has helped raise money to benefit the efforts of Global Green USA, an organization that shares in our dedication to the environment," said Michael Horn, president and CEO, Volkswagen Group of America, Inc.
Fully Charged rolls into season 3 with VW XL1 and electric Land Rover
Sat, Jan 18 2014It's been some time since last we visited with British actor and electric car proponent Robert Llewellyn and his web-based video series, Fully Charged. The show, now sponsored by Ecotricity, has started rolling out its third season and now has available two episodes featuring a pair of truly unique – and diametrically opposed – vehicles. The first installment starts with some interesting numbers involving the host's Nissan Leaf and its energy consumption over the past 36,000 miles, but soon moves on to the ultra-aero, ultra-expensive Volkswagen XL1. Now, if you've already seen the footage from our own XL1 first drive review, there's not a lot new here except, perhaps, more enthusiasm and a better listen of the two-cylinder diesel kicking in. Still, it's a great reminder of a truly unique vehicle and we enjoyed the segment. The second episode features an electrified Land Rover Defender 110. This is a vehicle you'd more likely see on an African safari than at the local mall. It's not a home-built conversion either, but rather, something the company has put together "for the boffins to create the ideas and see if they work." Boasting a 50-mile range, it's certainly something we like to take on an off-road adventure. Llewellyn is given the chance to do just that, and though the course is somewhat milder than what we might attempt, it does feature a stretch of river and some rough, rutted tracks. You can watch both episodes by scrolling below let us know which vehicle you'd prefer in the comments. This writer is going with the four-wheel-drive. This content is hosted by a third party. Volkswagen Cross Up! aimed at rugged lifestyle folks, complete with plastic cladding
Wed, 06 Mar 2013If you thought there was nothing wrong with the Volkswagen Up! that a little body cladding wouldn't fix, you're in luck. VW has officially pulled the wraps off the production version of the Cross Up!, and its wheel arches and rocker panels are full of the black plastic cladding you've been yearning for.
In addition to the "particularly rugged design and tough, lifestyle qualities" that the cladding exudes, VeeDub has also seen fit to put its Cross Up! on a new set of 16-inch alloy wheels clad in 185/50-series tires. Inside, there are new kick plates to go along with a dash pad that can be had in red, black or silver.
All that cladding must equal additional off-road readiness, right? Well, sure... just so long as you're fine with the same 75-horsepower three-cylinder engine that all other Up! models also feature, along with a five-speed manual transmission sending power to the front wheels, again, just like all other Up! models. The Cross Up! appears to have a taller ride height than other models, but we haven't been able to find out what - if any - changes have been made.
