2007 Vw Gti, 6 Speed, Low Miles, Airride, Bbs, Shaved on 2040-cars
Vernon Hills, Illinois, United States
Here is a totally one of a kind GTI with low miles. This car garners attention wherever it goes, and has had a ton of online exposure as well. This car means a lot to me and the only reason I'm selling is because I have too many cars as it is. Lets start out with the basics: it has 46,000 miles on it with no mechanical issues present. The car is far from stock, however mostly oem parts were used in the build. The exterior is in 9.9/10 condition with a lot of tasteful, subtle mods: the front end was lightly damaged by a tire tread on the highway, which coerced me into buying a Jetta Wolfsburg front upper and lower center grille ($300) with r-line fog grilles ($120) housing projector foglights ($120), the front bumper is a stock gti bumper with the ugly washer covers and sidemarkers professionally shaved ($600-$800) and an oem Votex Lip installed ($300). The fenders aren't mangled like many lowered cars are, and neither are the quarters. The stock body has ugly rubstrips running down the sides, with something like 18 holes to hold them in. These strips have been shaved, filled, and welded like they were never there. The sideskirts are votex sideskirts ($200), and the rear bumper is an oem r32 unit ($800+paint) with a rare shaved lower valence ($300). The entire car has been resprayed in a custom pearl white (looks hyper white in most light, but put it under a parking lot light or in a parking garage and the blue really comes out (my favorite feature on the car) The taillights are oem euro led's ($550). The car will come on a set of rare BBS Impuls in MINT condition, and sized at 18x8/9et38 with good tires ($2,500 before tires). Also included are the factory huffs with Michelin Pilot Aplin 2/3s with tons of tread left. The car is sitting on a top of the line airride system, no cheap parts anywhere in this system. It has airlift slam series front bags, with ss5 rears mounted in d-cups. The management is accuair e-level (the best) with a cleanly installed rocker switch to control it, with dual 444c compressors, 3/8 inch line, dual watertraps (the airride kit without the trunk setup is $4000)The trunk has a completely custom dual tank hardline setup painted to match the exterior of the car ($1500 just for the parts and hardware alone). Inside you will find a semting touchscreen navigation headunit with wiring that needs to be checked since it produces a lot of static, a complete oem leather seat swap, a euro dash cubby euro lower dash cubby, euro switch, full led lighting, (the sub and amp will not be included, but the wiring will be left in. Move on to the engine bay and you will find a neuspeed pflo intake, an external oil catch can, oem rev D diverter valve, APR stage one ecu, full mount kit including engine, trans, and dogbone mounts to make the car more dynamic ($500 for the mounts). Any issues the car has are extremely minor, and like I said this is a well known and appreciated car in Chicago, with a bit of a following. I was going to part it out but decided that someone on here might be able to get as much enjoyment out of it that I did. Its a great driver with an almost perfect exterior, and an almost perfect interior (no blemishes or tears anywear).

VW to unveil diesel-electric Twin-Up! in Tokyo
Fri, 08 Nov 2013We've received multiple reports that Volkswagen will be bringing a diesel-electric concept to the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show, set to take place later this month. The car, called the Twin-Up!, is based on the Up! city car, with some sources claiming this is a thinly veiled concept that will eventually enter production.
According to Automotive News Europe, the Twin-Up! will reportedly return 214 miles per gallon on the US cycle by combining an 800-cc, two-cylinder diesel and an electric motor. It will also boast plug-in capabilities, and will be able to cover 30 miles on electric power alone.
Autocar has a more complete picture of the Twin-Up!'s powertrain, though, claiming it's a modified version of the hybrid system found in the Volkswagen XL1. The Twin-Up! will get a more potent, 47-horsepower electric motor to the XL1's 27-hp unit, but will retain that car's 47-hp turbodiesel. The battery pack will also grow, from 5.5 kilowatt hours to 8.6 kWh. Both of these increases are necessary due to the increased weight of the Twin-Up! - it's some 900 pounds heavier than an XL1.
Autoblog's Editors' Picks: Our complete list of the best new vehicles
Mon, May 13 2024It's not easy to earn an “EditorsÂ’ Picks” at Autoblog as part of the rating and review process that every new vehicle goes through. Our editors have been at it a long time, which means weÂ’ve driven and reviewed virtually every new car you can go buy on the dealer lot. There are disagreements, of course, and all vehicles have their strengths and weaknesses, but this list features what we think are the best new vehicles chosen by Autoblog editors. We started this formal review process back in 2018, so there's quite of few of them now. So what does it mean to be an EditorsÂ’ Pick? In short, it means itÂ’s a car that we can highly recommend purchasing. There may be one, multiple, or even zero vehicles in any given segment that we give the green light to. What really matters is that itÂ’s a vehicle that weÂ’d tell a friend or family member to go buy if theyÂ’re considering it, because itÂ’s a very good car. The best way to use this list is is with the navigation links below. Click on a segment, and you'll quickly arrive at the top rated pickup truck or SUV, for example. Use the back button to return to these links and search in another segment, like sedans. If youÂ’ve been keeping up with our monthly series of the latest vehicles to earn EditorsÂ’ Pick status, youÂ’re likely going to be familiar with this list already. If not, welcome to the complete list that weÂ’ll be keeping updated as vehicles enter (and others perhaps exit) the good graces of our editorial team. We rate a new car — giving it a numerical score out of 10 — every time thereÂ’s a significant refresh or if it happens to be an all-new model. Any given vehicle may be impressive on a first drive, but we wait until itÂ’s in the hands of our editors to put it through the same type of testing as every other vehicle that rolls through our test fleet before giving it the EditorsÂ’ Pick badge. This ensures consistency and allows more voices to be heard on each individual model. And just so you donÂ’t think weÂ’ve skipped trims or variants of a model, we hand out the EditorsÂ’ Pick based on the overarching model to keep things consistent. So, when you read that the 3 Series is an EditorsÂ’ Pick, yes, that includes the 330i to the M3 and all the variants in between. If thereÂ’s a particular version of that car we vehemently disagree with, we make sure to call that out.
Jalopnik and Consumer Reports see who can pull off the best snow drift
Fri, Feb 20 2015The weather throughout much of the United States is pretty awful at the moment with some combination of extremely low temperatures, inches of snow and maybe some ice underneath it all. The folks at Jalopnik and Consumer Reports are making the absolute best out of a difficult situation by heading to CR's snow-covered test track and attempting to make the longest drift in a quartet of very different performance vehicles. Jalopnik brought along a Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S Wagon, a Subaru WRX STI, a BMW 228i and a 1973 Volkswagen Baja Bug (heck yeah!) for the challenge. Also, the track was perfect for this group, with a mix of packed snow in places and still a few inches of unsullied powder in spots too. Ostensibly the goal was to get the tail to step out through a particular corner, but in reality this was more about having hilarious fun in the snow with fast cars. The result just looks like the best time humanly possible in this weather.
