Sad to sell my one of a kind VW GTI but I wont be driving it while away on military orders. I am the second owner, I bought it with 9,000 miles in spring, 2012. Apparently the original owner had several vehicles and kept this one in the garage for the majority of the time. It still has very low mileage (40,XXX) but is my daily driver for now and will go up some. It has a beautifully done white leather with red trim/embroidery that has no rips or stains, just some minor wear on driver's seat. The turbocharged engine runs strong, getting great gas mileage but still very quick on the road helped out by an APR stage 1 tune. I have matching white leather floormats and a set of black rubber mats in case you're like me and often have muddy feet. Also, a matching white leather privacy cover in the trunk. The seats were surprisingly not difficult to keep clean and are nice because it is a leather that wont burn your butt after sitting in the sun. The paint is glossy all around and there is no rust. Suspension is upgraded to Eibach springs that lower the car about an inch and ride much nicer in my opinion. There is an Evolution Motorsports intake. Brakes and tires have plenty of life. Clutch is good. Power locks, windows, and sunroof all work. All speakers sound good, 6-disk cd changer works perfectly. There is also a flip-down monitor behind the sunroof that can be linked to an aftermarket headunit to play DVD's if you desire. It could use a new temperature sensor (cost of parts and labor were estimated to be $151) and repair on 3/4inch crack in windshield. Never been in an accident or had airbags deploy but it was bumped while parked in front of my apartment resulting in a basketball-sized dent that I had professionally repaired by a recognized body shop in Pittsburgh. VW clubs pay it forward to fix elderly woman's vandalized '69 Bus

Not long after Thanksgiving, surveillance cameras caught four boys in Arizona throwing rocks through the windows of a 1969 Volkswagen bus belonging to an elderly woman called Ann. A few nights later they returned to the scene of the first crime and repeated it, smashing windows they missed before. Ann had no other car and no way to make a living, but when Jesus Aguilera – a member of the Arizona Bus Club Â– came across the incident on a Facebook page, he got to work. When he was finished, the AZ Bus Club and the Tucson Mob Squad had donated thousands of dollars to pay for new glass and get it installed, and now Ann has a magic bus she can drive again. European car sales up 8% in February

Three weeks ago an analyst increased projections for European car sales this year, expecting them to climb three percent compared to last year instead of 2.7 percent. That number is a postive sign after years of hard times but it turns out February was especially good, overall European sales climbing eight percent on a wave of southern European recovery and discounts - and this comes after five months of gains including January's 7.2-percent jump over the year before.
The only country of Europe's five largest markets to post a decline was France, just as it did in January, Germany, the UK and Italy posting solid double-digit numbers, Spain rocking the charts with an 18-percent increase because of a government program to encourage trade-ins.
The only brand to miss the wave was Volkswagen, dropping 0.8 percent as it watched the double-digit growth at sister brands Audi, Seat and Skoda lift the Volkswagen Group sales up by seven-percent. Peugeot overcame flat sales at Citroën to improve the group by 3.5 percent, BMW and the Mercedes-Benz/Smart combo rose by four percent, the Fiat group jumped 5.8 percent, Ford was up 11 percent, the Renault Group 11.5 percent, General Motors 12 percent and the Toyota clan by 14 percent.

VW beams in Star Trek stars to promote e-Golf EV

Volkswagen just set its e-mobility commercial phasers on stunning. The German automaker has cast Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock of Star Trek fame (i.e., actors William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy) in a new advertisement for its growing stable of electric vehicles. Even though it's in German, we think you can get the idea. VW went Hollywood and cast the two veteran actors in a futuristic-themed 45-second ad, which sees Shatner cruise up in the e-Golf (with a toothy Trek-fan kid in tow) while Nimoy rocks the XL1 and the Trek theme blares in the background. Forget for a moment that the kid in the commercial wasn't even born when Shatner started pitching for Priceline, let alone the original Trek series and just enjoy the wholesome good humor of Shatner saying that the electric powertrain is just like the one in a spaceship. If you've got any familiarity with Spock, you should be able to understand his punch line, too. VW will bring the e-Golf to the states in November at a price of $35,445, about $6,500 higher than the Nissan Leaf's starting pricetag.
