2005 Volkswagen Gti 1.8t. 78k Miles. Very Clean!!! on 2040-cars
South Elgin, Illinois, United States
For sale is a very well maintained (and documented) 2005 Volkswagen Golf GTI. All maintenance that has been performed is documented with receipts from mile 1 with this car. I am the second owner, and have had this car for around a year and a half. My family is growing, so I need a 4-door car...thus the GTI has to go. I recently (at 76k) replaced the timing belt, serpentine belt, and water pump. The car currently has 78,100 miles, and that will go up relatively slowly. It is a great car to drive, gets great gas mileage, and runs like brand new.
It has 18" BBS RC rims (from a Jetta GLI MK4), Eibach Pro-Kit Lowering Springs, Pioneer AppRadio2 (with Bluetooth), Retrofit Homelink (for garage door functionality), DEPO HID Projectors (with Fog-Lights and Euro GTI Headlight Switch), and 35% Window Tint all around. I have the stock components to include with the sale for any modification that required OEM components to come off the car. There are no modifications to the engine, and there never has been. Here are the specs: 2005 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF GTI Hatchback 2 Door Clean Title Two Owner Car 5-Speed Manual Transmission LOW MILEAGE, ONLY 78K Miles Engine: 4-Cyl. 1.8 Liter Turbo Traction Control Adult Owned GAS SAVER Silverstone Grey Exterior/Dark Leather interior Heated Driver and Passenger Seats GREAT CONDITION Extra Clean Well Maintained, and Well Documented Recent Emissions Loaded AC/Heater Power Steering Power Windows Power Door Locks Tilt Wheel Cruise Control Pioneer AppRadio (with stock Monsoon Headunit included) Homelink Garage Door Opener Depo HID Headlights with Foglights (and switch) Premium Sound ABS(4-Wheel) Dual Front Air Bags Side Air Bags 18" BBS RC Rims (with 16" stock rims included) and much more |

Volkswagen Golf R Variant ready to haul ass, stuff
Thu, Nov 20 2014Volkswagen seems to be playing a cruel trick on the American automotive public at the Los Angeles Auto Show. It's displaying its sexy Golf R Variant with no clear intention of actually selling the model here. The hot wagon launches in Europe in the spring, but the automaker makes absolutely no mention of the model's prospects in the US. Hopefully, its appearance in LA at least indicates VW is considering bringing it stateside. The great thing about this wagon is that it has everything that the regular Golf R offers, but there's even more room to carry stuff. The same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine makes 296 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque with a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox and 4Motion all-wheel drive. Performance is very close, too, with the Variant R taking 5.1 seconds to get to 62 miles per hour versus the 4.9 seconds the standard R needs to read 60 mph. The two of them also have the same tech goodies like ESC Sport stability control and multiple damping modes. The real advantage to opting for the estate is its ability to carry up to 57.2 cubic feet of cargo in the back. This hot rod wagon would seem to be perfect for the family that needs to haul some extra junk in the trunk, but doesn't want to sacrifice performance. Whether the Variant R makes it to the US remains a mystery, though. Scroll down to read the specs and feel a twinge of jealousy.
VW to relax ambitious US sales targets?
Fri, 16 May 2014The Volkswagen brand sold 407,704 cars last year, a 6.95-percent decline compared to 2012, and it's down a further 8.36 percent through the end of April 2014 compared to this time last year. In order to to put the sales football between its Strategy 2018 goal posts, the brand would need to add 100,000 more sales every year to achieve the lofty 800,000-unit target. Coming to grips with how unreasonable that is, VW US CEO Michael Horn has said, "For now, we have to have realistic targets."
The reasons for the brand's slow-down are imprecise, but lots of folks are throwing lots of reasons around. Last November, VW Group Chairman Ferdinand Piech told Bloomberg, "We understand Europe, we understand China and we understand Brazil, [but] we only understand the US to a certain degree so far." Analysts say the brand hasn't had midsize and compact SUV offerings, especially an overdue retail version of the CrossBlue, and the ones it does have are priced too high for their segments. It "didn't introduce enough new engines, or alternative technologies or model variants" for the Passat and Jetta. It devoted so many resources to China that the US market suffered. It was being outspent two-to-one on advertising by competitors. Its J.D. Power dependability ratings aren't high enough to overcome its past. It "has never really taken the US customer seriously." And so on.
There's still no official admission of defeat concerning the target, but reading between the lines there are some VW execs that appear to accept it won't happen short of some deus ex machina. Still,
German judge 'inclined to dismiss' hedge fund lawsuit against Porsche
Fri, Feb 27 2015Last year, around two dozen investors, including hedge funds, leveled a 1.4 billion euro ($1.95 billion at the time) lawsuit against Porsche in connection with the automaker's attempted takeover of Volkswagen in 2008. The Stuttgart Regional Court dismissed the case. Around 19 of those plaintiffs are heading back to court to appeal the ruling and still hope to get 1.2 billion euros ($1.4 billion). However, according to one German judge, the chances for success aren't any better this time around. "On balance it's our view that we consider the lawsuit, or the appeal, to be unpromising for several reasons," Gerhard Ruf, a judge in Stuttgart, said to Reuters. "We are inclined to dismiss the case." The court's ruling on the appeal will be announced on March 26. The investors' case hinges on Porsche's strategy surrounding the botched takeover. The sports car maker said that it wasn't trying to control VW, when in fact it was. These hedge funds had bet against Volkswagen stock, but the share price surged when Porsche's plan inevitably came to light. Investors have sued the sports car company multiple times since then in attempts to recoup billions of dollars. However, none of the lawsuits have been successful, whether attempted in the US or Germany. Former Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking and and CFO Holger Haerter might still stand trial for the alleged stock manipulation, though.
