This a beautiful 2002 Volkswagen GTI 1.8T, with approximately 152,000 miles on it. The car is still driven, so exact mileage will be slightly higher.

180hp 1.8L Turbocharged 4 Cylinder Engine and 5-speed Manual Transmission.

This GTI really is very nice. The exterior is sharp, with normal wear for the year and miles. As you can see in the pictures, it looks fantastic.....every person that walked by while I was washing it that night said, "wow, that's a great looking car!". All the paint is original, no accidents, it's a very straight and clean car. I've taken lots of photos to show up close the imperfections that do exist. The interior is in great shape as well, the seats show almost no wear, and it looks very sharp. There is normal wear on the "soft touch" surfaces that VW/Audi uses, and again I have included pictures of that. The car has never been smoked in, and has no strange odors at all. Probably the biggest flaw on this car is the crack at the bottom of the windshield. It is not visible from the drivers position, because of how low it is on the windshield. The ADR wheels are in excellent shape, only minor curb scrapes on a couple of them.

The engine runs very strong, it is a blast to drive. Boost holds perfectly, and the turbo is in excellent condition. The 5-speed manual transmission shifts great, and the clutch is strong. The car also sounds very good with the APR exhaust...not too loud, just a deep mellow purr at idle, and sporty snarl during acceleration. No leaks or drips, oil has been changed regularly and overall the car is very well maintained. I have the lug key for the lug nuts on the ADR wheels, it is with the spare tire tools in the hatch. The spare is full size and never used, I removed it to air it up just last week.

Everything works, all the power items function as they should. The trunk release button on the door works, but it doesn't spring back into place, it has to be moved back manually. A/C is ice cold, heat blows hot, no surprises with anything there. Please contact me with any questions, my name is Dave. Good luck and happy bidding!

Ecotricity offering 1,000 free EV miles to new customers

Thu, Feb 13 2014

Ecotricity is offering electric vehicle drivers in the United Kingdom an lengthy incentive for using green energy: 1,000 miles of free fast charging per year. Called "Green Electricity + Car," the program will power customers' homes with renewable power allow them to charge their cars through Ecotricity's national network of fast chargers, which the company has named the Electric Highway. It makes complete sense for Ecotricity. "To get the greatest environmental benefit from an electric car, it needs to be charged using 100 percent green electricity from the wind and the sun – otherwise you're still powering it from dirty fossil fuels," wrote Dale Vince, founder of Ecotricity. Ecotricity, a UK-based producer of green energy, wants to bring fast charging to 90 percent of highway service stations around the UK in the near future and four fast chargers are installed per week under the Electric Highway campaign, the company says. Users can fast charge their EVs in 20-to-30 minutes. Ecotricity recently instituted a price freeze for all gas and electricity customers until April 1, reducing energy costs below what's being billed by the country's "Big Six" energy companies. Green Electricity + Car coincides with Volkswagen bringing its electric e-Up! to the British market. Volkswagen Group (UK) Limited imports VW, Audi, SEAT and Skoda brand vehicles and has signed a deal with Ecotricity as its official green energy supplier. Volkswagen Group customers purchasing an EV through one of its brands can take advantage of a new, reduced-cost Ecotricity tariff and a free smart meter installation. 08 February 2014 Green Electricity + Car Drivers of electric cars will receive 1,000 free miles every year with a new electricity tariff being launched by green energy company Ecotricity. Green Electricity + Car – will not only power customers homes with green energy but also their cars (either 100% electric or plug-in hybrids), plus they'll get free access to Ecotricity's national network of fast chargers[1] – the Electric Highway. This latest move comes after Ecotricity announced a price freeze for all gas and electricity customers until the end of winter (April 1st), making them cheaper[2] than the standard tariff of the Big Six energy companies.

Tesla tires turning on Stretchla Vanagon EV conversion project

Tue, Jan 7 2014

It is one thing to say you are going to Frankenstein a Tesla Model S with a pair of Siamese-twinned Volkswagen Vanagons and quite another to actually start taking your newly-acquired, smashed-up electric sedan apart in an effort to bring it back to life. Otmar Ebenhoech is doing just that, and having no small successes along the way. The Stretchla project, as it is being called, has officially started and our protagonist has put together another bit of video to document his progress and let us know about some of the different challenges he's encountered and conquered. While our original post about this endeavor featured video of the stretched Vanagon's drivetrain removal, this latest installment focuses on the Model S. Otmar received the Tesla in less-than-operable condition. Otmar received the Tesla in less-than-operable condition and has been tackling some of the basic problems one might expect to encounter: lots of error messages and an electrically disconnected battery pack. Without the aid of a manual or technical diagrams, he's removed the battery pack and discovered why it wasn't sending power to the car. Scroll below to watch the ten-minute presentation and celebrate some initial victories. You can also check out the official Stretchla blog for more photos and updates, including the most recent one that discusses how he talked himself into paying (*spoiler alert) $42,000 for a wrecked, non-functional electric car, along with more recent struggles with the steering rack. Hit us up in the comments to let us know what kind of trouble you would get into with a Model S drivetrain of your own. This content is hosted by a third party. EU formally questions French government assistance of Peugeot's finance arm

Fri, 28 Dec 2012

Recently, the finance arm of PSA/Peugeot-Citroën was in such debt trouble that it was pricing itself out of the car loan market. The rates it was paying to service its debt, which was rated one step above junk, were so high that it was forced to charge car-buying customers higher rates than they could find elsewhere. This was adding to Peugeot's already impressive woes by sending revenue out the door to competitors.
Two months ago a deal was worked out with the French government whereby the state would provide 7 billion euro ($9 billion USD) in bonds to guarantee the finance arm's loans. The French government could nominate someone to join the Peugeot board, Peugeot would guarantee more French jobs, and on top of that deal, other banks would provide non-guaranteed loans. The government would take no equity stake in the car company.
Although not yet finalized, the arrangement is meant to create some breathing room for Peugeot Finance to lower its interest rates for customers, and a government-nominated board member, Louis Gallois, was recently named to Peugeot's supervisory board. The arrangement was also openly questioned by at least three competitors: Ford, Renault - which is 15-percent owned by the French government after it received state aid - and the German state of Lower Saxony, itself a 15-percent shareholder in Volkswagen.
