Hello fellow VW enthusiast, meet my MK4 1999.5 fully custom turbo GTI VR6 which represents all the best of speed, style, and sound! When I say custom, I mean there is NOTHING stock about this car... $20,000 in the engine bay and drive train, $20,000 in custom paint and body work, $10,000 in the suspension, brakes, wheels, and tires, and $5,000 in the interior and sound system. This beast is ready to plaster you into the back of your seat and is currently tuned with full stand alone engine management to over 400 whp. The motor is fully built top-to-bottom and ready to make over 600 whp if you so desire. The car has been transformed into a real wide-body (not using a body kit) with all body moldings and door locks shaved and has a custom black and siLver two-tone paint job along with Audi door handles. In addition, it has huge Porsche brakes, a fully adjustable coil-over suspension, and staggered wheels and tires for an aggressive stance and fly-paper adhesion to the road. Add to that tastefully done black alcantra door panels, headliner, and pillars with a great sounding custom sound system! Everything has been done meticulously and to the highest standard. The car runs and handles great and will make a true enthusiast very happy. The chassis has 82,485 miles on it, but the engine build only has about 7,000 miles on it. The stand-alone engine management system is Lugtronics (Megasquirt) and gives you full control over tuning with my Dell laptop which is included with the car. You can easily monitor and adjust every parameter of fuel, ignition, etc. and document the results via the Mega Viewer program. You also have control over launch, rev limiter, NOS, or any other output. There is an RS-232 data cable inside the car which connects to the included Dell laptop and has all the tuning and documentation software on it. Just plug it in and start tuning with this amazing software! This car is absolutely incredible, but since I am very particular, I think there a few minor things that you should know about: the gap between the front bumper and fenders is not perfect and there are some minor stone chips (the car has been driven and is not a trailer queen after all). In addition, there are two pieces of trim missing on either side of the radio/climate control in the dash and the back window tint has a bubble in it. Other than that the interior and exterior are immaculate! Also, the back seats have been removed but are included with the sale of the car. Well it's time for the CHA-CHING portion of the listing... Here are all the parts and modifications on this one-of-a-kind vehicle: ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION: 2.8 Schimmel stage 2 CRATE long block, ported and polished head 8.5:1 JE pistons, Schimmel Performance rods New lifters, retainers, timing chain, guides, and tensioner All 3 VF polyurethane and billet engine/tranny motor mounts Kinetic exhaust manifold Schimmel Performance short runner intake manifold Garrett GT 35/40r turbocharger (1.06 ar) TiAL 38mm wastegate Custom front mount intercooler and piping 42 lb./hr. fuel injectors Lugtronics (Megasquirt) stand alone engine management system with Dell laptop included Greddy Type-S blow-off valve Rebuilt transmission with Peloquin differential Greddy Profec B Spec I electronic boost controller GHL 3" Stainless steel exhaust with hi-flow catalytic converter Custom 3" heat wrapped downpipe Optima Red Top battery New O2 sensors SPEC Stage 3 clutch and flywheel Schimmel Performance Stage 2.9 DSS axles INTERIOR: Garrett boost gauge with New South single pod New OEM black carpet Black alcantra headliner, door panels, and pillars Euro head light switch Rear seat delete (Stock back seats included with sale of the car) Pioneer CD head unit with accessible USB jack for digital music play back Infinity front door and rear speakers Infinity capacitors and crossovers Custom flush mounted subwoofer enclosure with 10" JBL sub Custom side mounted JBL amplifiers (2) EXTERIOR (all body work professionally done): Custom two-tone black and silver paint job Custom boser grafted onto hood Euro Gear R32 front bumper Euro Gear R32 rear bumper Wide body pulled/extended fenders (done perfectly) Shaved hatch Shaved antenna Shaved all body moldings Entire body smoothed Audi door handles Hella smoked tail lights In.Pro projector angel eye head lights Smoked marker lights 35% window tint BRAKES AND SUSPENSION: ECS Stage II v2 Porsche 13" front big brake kit Rear cross-drilled and slotted rotors Weitec Coilovers New upper strut mounts and bushings WHEELS: 19" TSW Kyalami staggered wheels (8.5" front / 10" rear) Toyo Proxes tires H&R wheel spacers So, basically all you need to do is put gas in it, step on the pedal, and try not to destroy the car or kill yourself! hahaha This beautiful thing is wicked fast and a blast to drive and is worth every penny! Please email me with questions and do not send me ridiculous low-ball offers. Thank you!

Honda wins Commercial of the Decade, but not for the ad you think [w/VIDEO]

Honda's Commercial of the Decade: "Grrr" - Click above to watch video
The mad men at Adweek recently voted for the Commercial of the Decade (Super Bowl commercials not included) and Honda took top honors over memorable ads from the last ten years by companies like Nike, Budweiser and Sony. That's not a big surprise considering Honda often puts a huge amount of effort into its on-air spots. However, the Japanese automaker didn't win for the commercial you might have expected: "Cog." Though Honda's famous commercial that breaks down a European Accord Tourer into a Rube Goldberg-esque machine was also a finalist, it was beaten by another Honda commercial called "Grrr" that's narrated by Garrison Keillor of all people. You've probably never seen it, but you can after the jump.
Volkswagen also made the list of finalists, but the particular ad chosen out of all the comical VW ads we've seen was unexpected as well. Most surprising carmaker with a commercial in the finals: Saturn. Who knew...

McLaren F1 poaches Jost Capito from VW WRC

Mon, Jan 18 2016

The executive shuffle continues at the McLaren Formula 1 team with news that Ron Dennis has lured Jost Capito away from his position as head of Volkswagen Motorsport. Capito will become the CEO of McLaren Racing, replacing Jonathan Neale who took the position on an interim basis at the beginning of 2014 to replace Martin Whitmarsh. Whitmarsh, who had been with McLaren for 24 years and spent five of them as F1 team principal, left the company after being moved out of the CEO position. Neale, on the other hand, who has been with McLaren Racing since 2001, is moving over to the newly created position of COO of the McLaren Technology Group. Capito left the Ford SVT division in 2012 to run VW Motorsport, and has spent the past three years shepherding the brand's World Rally Championship to three consecutive driver's and manufacturer's titles. Before that, his lengthy racing resume includes developing high-performance BMW engines, winning the Dakar Rally as a co-pilot, executive positions with Sauber in the early nineties, and managing Ford's WRC team. Dennis, who first approached Capito last summer, called him, "extremely impressive, competitive, and ambitious." The Woking team has some great parts, but it hasn't been able to make the most of them comprehensively since the end 2012 season. Autosport says that Capito has the ability to make the best pieces work together, which will probably be his biggest challenge at McLaren. Capito will remain at VW until a successor is found.
