This auction is for my '91 golf. 8v. My situation has changed and it just doesn't make sense for me to own a car at the moment. I only drive 2 miles total a day during the week and roughly 25-50 miles total on the weekend! I have a new scooter that I have been using more regularly since spring and its time to move the Golf along to another enthusiast who can continue to love and care for this very clean dub. No mechanical issues at all! Runs great and drives great! This is really a nice example of a solid & reliable, daily driven Mk2. This car is by and far the most reliable and well sorted Mk2 Ive had the pleasure to own in a very long time. Doesn't even have that typical 8v lifter clatter! Nice examples like this are becoming very difficult to find for reasonable money. Don't miss this opportunity! If you've been wanting a Mk2 for some time; NOW is the time to buy!  ALL the neglected maintenance from 20+ years has been put right and brought up to date at great pain and expense by me! This car needs nothing mechanically and only very minor cosmetic attention.  The few very minor "flaws" are listed below. THANK YOU AND GOOD LUCK!

The Good:
NEW: Timing belt & roller (Dec 2013)
NEW: Water pump, thermostat, accessory & alternator belts (Dec 2013)
NEW: Battery & starter replaced (Dec 2013)
NEW: Vacuum hoses (Dec 2013)
NEW: Sylvania Ultra gold headlights (Dec 2013)
NEW: Drive axle replaced (Dec 2013)
NEW: Rear wheel bearings (Jan 2014)
NEW: Shifter bushings & rear motor mount (Jan 2014)
NEW: Tires & alignment (Mar 2014)
NEW: Throttle cable and distributor (May 2014).
.Clutch and trans are excellent and solid. (No grinds or pop-outs)

Bonus goodies:

.Bilstien sport/HD shocks w/ H&R springs. (Oct 2013)
.Corrado front seats (no real wear or tear). (Feb 2014)
.Custom stainless 2.5in Magnaflow exhaust (June 2014)
.Original wheels in nice condition.

.Several extra parts are included:  including New rear drums, pads, wheel-cylinders, etc.. too much to list!

The bad:

 .... NOTHING!.........

Minor Flaws:
. Few runs & over spray from repaint in (May 2013)
. Power steering Res. is cracked and fluid must be topped off each month.
. Headliner is solid but would look better re-covered
. Cluster replaced with junkyard cluster (orig miles 126xxx)

. Needs an oil-change.

Volkswagen tipped to launch turbocharged Up! with 100 hp

Tue, Jan 6 2015

Overseas customers enticed by the compact dimensions of the Volkswagen Up! but turned off by its diminutive 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine may be encouraged by reports that the German automaker is planning a more potent turbo version. Previewed by the GT Up! concept showcased at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show (pictured above), the more performance-oriented model is expected to pack the turbo three from the larger Polo, where it produces 100 horsepower channeled through a five-speed manual transmission. That may not seem like much, but it would put the existing 59- and 74-horsepower versions of the German city car to shame. That might not give it enough punch to keep pace with the upcoming Smart Fortwo Brabus (and its Renaultsport Twingo counterpart), tipped to pack as much as 130 hp, but it could stand to out-perform the existing 89-hp turbo models of both. Given that the reports are emanating from Brazil, however, it is possible that the Up! Turbo (or whatever it's ultimately called) would be limited to the South American market, if it's built at all. One thing's for sure, though: it's not likely to make it to North American showrooms anytime soon.

Piech and Winterkorn still at odds about VW leadership plan

Wed, Apr 15 2015

Volkswagen Group Chairman Ferdinand Piech (above, right) and CEO Martin Winterkorn (above, left) will be meeting in the coming days to discuss who the next leader of the Volkswagen Group will be. This, of course, comes after a report last Friday in Der Spiegel where Piech said he didn't want Winterkorn to be the automaker's next chairman. Oh, to be a fly on the wall of that conference room. As Automotive News reports, Winterkorn had been widely viewed as the probable replacement for the 77-year-old Piech, until last week, when the current chairman said he was keeping the CEO "at a distance," in the German paper. While Winterkorn confirmed to German media on Monday that he still had a job, analysts aren't sure what Piech's comments will mean for the 67-year-old CEO's future, with some indicating he may end up being a "lame duck" leader. According to AN, Piech doesn't think that Winterkorn has the vision to lead the sprawling Volkswagen Group empire, even though the current CEO has the support of a number of other VAG stakeholders. "Piech knows what he is doing and will assume that he can get the supervisory board to implement his decisions," former BMW executive turned analyst Helmut Becker told German media, AN reports. Winterkorn has just over 18 months left on his contract, while Piech's term has another two years left on it, meaning it will still be some time before we find out how the Volkswagen Group's leadership issues play out.

Volkswagen names new chief designer for Bentley

Thu, Jun 4 2015

The Volkswagen Group has named one of its own to head up the design department at its Bentley division. The role now falls to Stefan Sielaff, who has been with the group (off and on) since 1990. Sielaff is principally an interior designer, but has been tasked with setting up numerous overall design offices for Volkswagen and Audi over the years. In his new capacity he'll be reporting to the group's chief engineer Rolf Frech (and oddly not to Bentley chief Wolfgang Durheimer), but at the same time, Sielaff will retain his role as head of interior design for the entire VW group, reporting to its chief designer Walter de Silva. Sielaff replaces Luc Donckerwolke, who has headed up Bentley design since 2012 and is leaving the company. We'll be on the lookout to see where Donckerwolke lands next. Crewe/Wolfsburg, 04 June 2015 Stefan Sielaff to head design at the Bentley brand • Sielaff also responsible for Group Interior Design Strategy Stefan Sielaff (53), currently Head of the Volkswagen Design Center in Potsdam, will assume responsibility for design at the Bentley brand effective July 1, 2015 in addition to his present post as Head of Group Interior Design Strategy. As Director of Design at Bentley, Sielaff succeeds Luc Donckerwolke (49), who held this function since 2012. Stefan Sielaff joined the Volkswagen Group in 1990, beginning his career in the interior design department at Audi. From 1995 the design graduate was entrusted with setting up the Group's Design Center Europe in Spain. In 1997 he was placed in charge of the Design Studio in Munich and was appointed Head of Audi Interior Design in the same year. In 2003 Sielaff moved to DaimlerChrysler as Design Director of the Interior Competence Center, returning to the Volkswagen Group in 2006 to become Head of Audi Design before being appointed Head of the Volkswagen Design Center in Potsdam und Head of Group Interior Design Strategy in 2012. In his new function as Director of Design at Bentley, Sielaff reports to Rolf Frech, Board Member for Engineering. In his function as Head of Group Interior Design Strategy he continues to report to Walter de Silva, Head of Group Design. Luc Donckerwolke has decided to leave the company. De Silva said: "Luc Donckerwolke has played a key role in the design of various Group brands. We would like to thank him for his work."
