This van is currently not in a operational state. It is being stored at my mechanics shop in Mission Viejo, California. When we found the cost of repairs to be great, we chose to look for a new vehicle. The top end of the engine is partially disassembled, camshaft is out. My mechanic found that sludge build up is fairly great. With what work he recommended the cost just pushed us towards looking for something newer.

I you are a good mechanic, and know Volkswagon products, this would be an awesome project car. My mechanic suggests replacing the timing sensors, however he said there is a chance they are still good once the engine is thoroughly cleaned out. If it were me, and I had the time, I would remove the engine, disassemble, thoroughly clean and replace any warn parts, and you should be good to go.

The engine was running well, but slowly started to decline, which was the timing sensors not being able to read correctly due to the sludge build up.

This engine did have it's timing chain replaced a couple years back, a known Eurovan Issue.

The alternator was replaced VERY recently, probably less than 500 miles on it.

I'm told there is a minor water leak at the thermostat housing (I think that's the location) but is an easy fix when rebuilding.

No other known engine issues.

Original transmission.

The body is in OK condition, maybe a 6 on a 10 scale. It has never been in an accident, never severally damaged, however there is a lot of wear and tear. Many scratches in and around the sliding door area due to servicing my daughter's wheelchair ramp.

Volkswagen says goodbye to Eos, Routan in 2015 updates

Wed, 23 Jul 2014

Usually automakers announce changes to their lineup individually on a vehicle-by-vehicle basis, but sometimes it all comes at once - especially when the changes are ones we either expected or might not otherwise notice. That's the path Volkswagen has gone with changes to its US lineup for 2015.
The biggest change is what we already knew: that the new Golf arrives for the 2015 model year, bringing with it the new GTI, Golf R, e-Golf and Golf SportWagen (to replace the previous Jetta wagon). But there are some new details as well.
For starters, Volkswagen has finally confirmed that both the Eos and the Routan - both long rumored to be on their way out - will be exiting this year. The Eos hardtop convertible, pictured above, will linger for one last year, its Sport trim replaced by a new Final Edition with 18-inch wheels, two-tone leather interior and enhanced equipment.

Anti-UAW VW workers move to form own union

Sat, 30 Aug 2014

The struggle over unionization at the Volkswagen factory in Chattanooga, TN, continues to get more complicated. There's now a second union fighting to organize at the plant; although this one is staunchly against the actions of the United Auto Workers. At the same time, the UAW is still signing up voluntary members to its recently created Local 42 at the facility and is reportedly near having a majority of the hourly employees on its side.
The new, anti-UAW union campaign is being spearheaded by employee Mike Burton, according to Reuters, and he calls his group the American Council of Employees. He claims to already have 108 signatures in support of his organization. Burton believes that the UAW is harmful to businesses, and his goal is to force another vote to determine a preferred union among workers.
The UAW was initially defeated (712 to 626) when it attempted a union vote at the Tennessee plant in February. However, UAW secretary-treasurer Gary Casteel told Reuters that Local 42 has already signed up over 700 members. If it can reach a majority of the roughly 1,500 employees, the group hopes VW might consider recognizing it as the factory's union.

Next-gen Volkswagen Golf R spied while running the 'Ring

Tue, 16 Apr 2013

The launch of a new Volkswagen Golf is never a small thing, and things are already looking up for the subcompact hatchback after it was named 2013 World Car of the Year. While we've already seen the base and GTI versions of the next-generation Golf, now we're getting our first look at the sportier Golf R.
Although this prototype wears GTI lettering on the front fenders, it's more than just the roll cage and Sparco racing seat hinting that this is something a little more serious. Unlike the Golf and GTI, this car shows that the Golf R will continue to flaunt massive air intakes on each side of the fascia, and the rear of the car (though it's hard to see) has quadruple exhaust outlets. We still don't have an official word on power, but rumors indicate that the next Golf R could be pushing close to 300 horsepower, making it the most powerful production Golf ever. As much fun as we had during our first drive of the Golf R Cabriolet in the cold, snowy French Riviera last month, more power is a warming idea.
