Up for auction is a 1995 Volkswagen Eurovan Camper. Runs and drives as it should, well maintained . Has minor defects in paint and finish, it has some small chips with surface rust as pictured on tailgate. Two small tears in pop-up canvas at front corners, can be easily repaired also support struts need replaced as shown in picture. Stove, refrigerator and heating system all work properly. A/C need serviced. Recently changed oil, Has mobil 1 full synthetic 10/30. Transmission filter, gasket and valvoline extended life ATF. Replaced Timing belt and tensioners. Volkswagen drops "GTi" lawsuit against Suzuki
Tue, 02 Oct 2012Way back in 2004, Volkswagen took umbrage with Suzuki being granted permission to use the nameplate "SWIFT GTi" for a performance variant of its small-car offering (2012 equivalent seen here). Now, eight years and surely some very steep legal bills later, VW has finally dropped its claim against Suzuki.
The General Court of the European Union stated, back in March of this year, that Suzuki's GTi registration could not be confused with VW's "Golf GTI." Volkswagen had appealed that ruling, though has now reportedly called off the dogs. In fact, Germany's Die Welt reports that the appeal has been dead for several weeks now.
This news comes amongst continued arbitration acrimony between the two automakers, all revolving around VW's forced divestiture of nearly 20-percent stake it purchased in Suzuki some two years ago.
VW pondering low-cost sub-brand for China?
Wed, 30 Jan 2013More detail is being sketched into the Volkswagen Group's plan to launch a low-cost brand for emerging markets. Late last year a German report quoted a VW rep saying that the brand has been interested in building a no-frills car, the kind that would challenge Dacia and Datsun, for a while. With both Proton and Suzuki effectively out of the partnership picture, a report in Reuters suggests VW could go straight to China, developing a car with its joint venture partners and building and selling it there.
Officially, company CEO Martin Winterkorn said the issue of a model for emerging markets would be decided this year but VW isn't any closer to confirming any kind of plan for a car in its portfolio underneath the Up!, remarking to Reuters about the China possibility, "That's an issue we're currently looking at."
