1993 Volkswagen Eurovan Mv Westfalia Pop-up Camper on 2040-cars
Laguna Niguel, California, United States
Very Clean 1993 Volkswagen Eurovan weekender westfalia. 2.5L 5 cylinder
automatic. ~179K miles (we're still driving it). Sleeps 4. two rear facing seats. Back seat folds
into a queen bed. pop-up table. Awesome family mobile.
Over $4.5K of service was done in the last 2 years including new head, valves, cylinders, water pump, timing belts, gaskets, fluids, a/c compressor, and transmission service. Runs Great and shifts great. We just completed a 1K roadtrip, and it ran perfectly with the A/C on. Averaged 20-21 mpgs. Pop-up canvas is awesome (two tiny little holes from where the clamp went down on it. common on these campers) seats are clean, carpet is clean. Had seat covers its whole life as well as a large mat in the back and front, so carpet is in great shape. Has refrigerator under rear facing seat. Aftermarket CD player, speakers, and Sirius radio. Clean and clear title in hand from Oregon. There is some surface rust by a left rear window and on the front right windshield pillar. See pics. Also some normal wear and tear with some small scratches, some normal rock chips on the front, and a few little dings here and there. I'd still say less wear than you would think for a 20 year old car that drove 180K miles. The left mirror moves up, down, and out, but doesn't seem to want to go inward. The aftermarket fog lamps don't seem to work. The horn works, but is pretty quiet. The passenger "oh sh*!" handle is broken. Mostly small stuff, but little things here and there. The aftermarket foglights don't turn on. Continental tires still have plenty of tread. Have all curtains. I'd say interior is a 9.5, exterior an 8. I'm sure I'm forgetting something. Sorry if I miss anything. I just want to disclose everything I know. NADA Blue Book has it from $6K-16K. Middle is $10K. Although I believe it is on the nicer end of 93 Westies I've seen, we have it for sale locally for $9K. Feel free to email with any questions. Please check my feedback. I try to be as honest as I can. I may miss stuff, so we encourage a visit and test drive. Mechanics welcome. |

VW Beetle R is one mean bug
Wed, 02 Oct 2013Volkswagen's R lineup currently consists of the Golf R in North America, and the too-cool-for-school Scirocco R in Europe. It hasn't exactly been a secret as to which VW would next get the R treatment; the German manufacturer reportedly confirmed that a hotter Beetle would be coming to the US. That announcement, in August 2011, was followed up by a production-ready Beetle R Concept at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show.
After some wait, we're finally seeing spy shots of the Beetle R in Germany. The mule shown in the images here is wearing the R-Line bodykit, which adds sportier front and rear fascias, side skirts, dual exhausts and a not-so-subtle spoiler. Topped off with Volkswagen's traditional, five-spoke R wheels, we'd be just fine with the Beetle R coming to market as is.
Our spy photographer, though, seems to think that the production R will get even sportier sheetmetal, which we take to mean the more assertive look shown on the Frankfurt show car. Larger intakes on the front fascia, a bigger rear spoiler and vertical vents on the rear bumper could all be upcoming. Whether a production model will include the concept's polished wheels (R cars haven't traditionally embraced that look), vented hood and the quad-tipped exhausts remains to be seen.
European new car sales drop nearly 8% in first half of 2019
Thu, Jul 18 2019PARIS — European car sales dropped 7.9% in June, led by bigger declines for Nissan, Volvo and Fiat Chrysler (FCA), according to industry data published on Wednesday. Registrations fell to 1.49 million cars last month from 1.62 million a year earlier across the European Union and EFTA countries, the Brussels-based Association of European Carmakers said in a statement. Calendar effects resulted in two fewer sales days in most markets, accentuating the decline. Registrations for the first half closed 3.1% lower, ACEA said. For European carmakers, weakening demand at home compounds the pressure from a sharper contraction in China and emerging markets that may yet bring more profit warnings. NissanÂ’s aging model lineup contributed to a 26.6% June sales slump while Volvo Cars, owned by ChinaÂ’s Geely, saw deliveries tumble 21.7%. Registrations also fell 13.5% last month at FCA, 10.1% at BMW, 9.6% at Volkswagen Group and 8.2% for both Mercedes parent Daimler and FranceÂ’s PSA Group. The Peugeot makerÂ’s domestic rival Renault suffered less, posting a 3.9% decline. By the Numbers BMW Chrysler Fiat Nissan Volkswagen Volvo Peugeot Renault
Volkswagen posts quarterly profit despite drop in sales
Thu, Oct 29 2020Volkswagen returned to profit in the third quarter as surging Chinese demand for luxury cars helped offset a 1.1% drop in vehicle deliveries due to the pandemic, sending its shares as much as 3% higher on Thursday. The German automaker's return to the black comes amid spiking coronavirus cases in Europe that led governments in France and Germany to order their countries back into strict national lockdowns on Wednesday. "The coronavirus remains a central problem," Volkswagen Chief Financial Officer Frank Witter said in a conference call with reporters. "This situation now is anything but relaxed." But Witter said the group expected the economic recovery to continue and did "not anticipate any nationwide lockdowns in larger markets." Witter said the takeover of U.S. truck maker Navistar International by Volkswagen's trucking unit Traton was an important acquisition, but the "current economic climate will not make this easy." Volkswagen reiterated it expects to post a profit for the full year, saying its business "recovered noticeably" in the third quarter as sales in China of premium vehicles, including Audi and Porsche sports cars, rose 3%. The quarterly performance was also aided by a series of cost-cutting measures launched earlier this year. Volkswagen said its net liquidity rose to 24.8 billion euros from 18.7 billion at the end of the second quarter. Excluding one-time items, third-quarter operating profit was 3.2 billion euros ($3.8 billion), down from 4.8 billion euros a year earlier, but up from a second quarter loss of 1.7 billion. In a note to clients, Jefferies analyst Philippe Houchois described the results as a "solid performance with strong cash, but relatively muted in the context of the (auto) sector recovery." Last week, German rival Daimler reported a record 24% jump in Chinese demand for its Mercedes-Benz cars, boosting its margins in the third quarter. Italian-American Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Peugeot manufacturer PSA Group both also posted solid results this week. Witter said Volkswagen could not say for sure whether it would meet EU CO2 emissions targets this year, adding "it will be a tough race." At 1030 GMT, Volkswagen shares were up 2.9% at 129.20 euros.
